The Lord Milner is a lovely Victorian Hotel, full of history and atmosphere, begging to be explored. Matjiesfontein, the town itself has wonderful gardens to leisurely lose yourself in, interesting museums abundant with all sorts, as well as the typical general store/gift shop, a small chapel, a coffee house full of homemade goodies, an old courthouse, a recently renovated church and The Laird’s Arms Bar. Most evenings, one can enjoy a ride on the old London bus and tour the grounds with our entertainer Johnny. Then experience sundowners in the Laird's Arms. Dinner is served from 7-9pm in our beautiful candlelit dining room. We’ve hosted some beautiful weddings and outrageous birthday parties in our transport museum or the old Courthouse. We are only 3 hours from Cape Town by road or take the train.. "The Train to Matjiesfontein".

Very good experience at the Lord Milner. Hotel had lots of character and the London bus tour is a must. Can't remember the tour guide's name but he made it good fun, especially finishing at the Lairds pub.

If you like old-world charm and boutique hotels then you have to visit Matjiesfontein and stay at the Lord Milner hotel. The town is gorgeous (but tiny!) with so much quaint, colonial charm. They have an old red bus where you can catch a short but highly memorable bus-ride. Take

Dear Guest Thank you for your question. We do have free WiFi and this is available on our terrace in front of the hotel and in our small lounge at our reception area. We have a couple of rooms in the main hotel that falls in range (some balcony rooms), however we do not have WIFI available in any of our other rooms, including cottages and motel rooms. I do hope this answers your question. If you need any additional information, feel free to let us know. Kind Regards Johan

"One of the rooms outside of the main building would our choice."
"Front rooms face the railway, which is not busy, but the rumble of the occasional train might disturb some, although I find it soporific."
"Riverside rooms, The Motel section. Lovely deck, very quiet furthest away from main hotel, sunny in winter, leafy cool in summer."
"Do visit the motor museum, the haunted room, the station, and the very pleasant bar whilst you are in Matjiesfontein."
"We stayed in room 15 (lovely, over-looking back of the hotel) - a note that the en-suite bathroom is down some stairs"
