A short note to express our appreciation of the notable experience we had at Barkhan Lodge, on 30 June 2020. Other than the the striking setting and amazing sundowner, we find the new rooms to be unique, spacious and clean. Over and above however the praise goes to Nicky and Gerda, who ensured we had a memorable stay. They spoiled us with delicious food and catering for our every need. Thank you Barkhan for a spectacular experience! We were treated with delicious food, and friendly hospitality. Beautiful decorated rooms with an uncluttered view over the valley of silence! We took full advantage partaking in the many activities available at the lodge. It is unbelievable how easy it is to ride the e-bike and the solar buggies are a must to explore the surroundings. We will definitely come back again soonest. Next time we will the bring the family.

Barkhan was a wonderful experience. The owners, the couple that mange it and all the staff were extremely friendly. The food is to die for.... The room was soooo nice. The owner took us on a tour around the lodge as well as a game drive. Definitely worth a second, third and fourth visit.

Our story is a bit unique here because it starts with us breaking down right at the Spreetshoogte Pass. Barney pulled over to check on us and after multiple attempts to jump our battery, swap our fuses, and inspect the engine - he drove an hour round trip to return with another vehicle and Niekie who literally ripped out the battery in his own truck while it stayed running so that we could all make it down to the resort together. As soon as we arrived, Gerda hands us two pints to calm our nerves and a comfortable seat looking out on a spectacular landscape. After some great conversation with the three of them, our car was up and running on a fresh battery they took out of a spare vehicle and got us on our way to Sousseveli. Let’s get the obvious out of the way, the resort is gorgeous. It’s in a perfect location, has incredible views, and wonderful accommodations. There is literally no question I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. But the reason we’ll be returning is the people themselves. Barney, Niekie, and Gerda were the most helpful and hospitable folks we’ve ever come across in our years of traveling and we’re forever grateful for their care and thoughtfulness. What could have set us back by days on a desert overpass was washed away with the kindness of strangers and a cold beer. Many thanks for everything and we look forward to seeing one another again. We stayed here on our first night in Namibia and it was a great place to start our adventure! We made so welcome by the couple who manage the place and the room we had was superb. It was a detached bungalow a little way out in the desert with the most superb views of the mountains and the valley in front. The large patio windows meant that we woke up to the view from our bed in the morning. The outside bathroom facilities were a great experience and they were built into the landscape beautifully. We had dinner at the main house which was superb and it was nice to meet the managing couple who joined us for the main meal. This is a lovely place which is being upgraded right now so I am sure it will be even better soon. They even have a pet meerkat there as well, and very cute it is as well!! I would highly recommend a stay here, we used it as a sop off between Windhoek and The Namib Naukluft mountains and Sossusvlei.…
