So... some context. We moved to this hotel from a truly low-end, depressing place that was the same price as this hotel. As such, we were happy to be here. However, this hotel is suggested as a luxury hotel, and I would say that's not entirely true. On the surface it may appear that way, because it's spacious and has a cute pool with a waterfall.. BUT, the rooms need some serious TLC. They are falling apart a bit. Our bed sheets had stains, the chairs were old and kind of gross, and the mattress wasn't the most comfy. Yet, the balcony had a nice view of the mountains and the bathroom and shower were great. Also, we paid extra for a room with a fan... imagine our surprise when they gave us some old, crappy fan on a stand! Why should we have to pay extra for that??? If it's not a ceiling fan, there shouldn't be an extra charge. The breakfast is OK, but the biggest issue is that they started it late every day - which is unacceptable for a tourist location in which people are up super early to do activities. I'm not even going to get into the crappy wifi, as this is an issue almost everywhere in Brazil. Overall, this hotel was OK - but you need to manage your expectations. The best point I guess is that it's the same price as many hotels and pousadas that are actually much worse. Also, I would say that the staff people we spoke to were helpful.

While the staff was pleasant and the hotel was very clean, we experienced a few problems that lowered our rating of this hotel. 1. There was not a constant supply of hot water. Twice during our two-night stay, once before breakfast and the other before dinner, the hot water system couldn't keep up with the demand, and no hot water was available for showers. 2. The air conditioner in our room wasn't functioning - at all - and the staff told us they couldn't do anything about it. They said that they couldn't give us another room because the hotel was full, and left it like that without making any attempt to compensate for the problem. We had to suggest/demand that they at least provide us with fans. The fans were eventually provided, but we felt that the staff should have offered the fans before we had to ask. Despite those problems, we enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was served in typical Brazilian style with a nice selection of fruit, breads, cake, and scrambled eggs and hot dogs in a red sauce. We found bargains on handicraft-style jewelry in the gift shop, and, despite it being a bit campy, we smiled at the "alien" style theme throughout the hotel. This is definitely an acceptable place to stay in Alto Paraiso, but next time I think I'll try one of the quaint looking pousadas.

I am usualy not that critical and trying to relax but this was one very bad experience since the beginning to the end of my stay. The whole hotel is naming room like "luxury" and "luxury superior" this is very funny and recomending all the staff and especialy the owner to se what those word is mean in reality. this hotel is absolutely without any direction and supervision. Front desk staff doesnt know anything and are unable to help. Breaakfast is nevere ready befor 9am when almost everybody are leaving. One day come to play a smal band during the breakfast.... vasted money guys... spent them for breakfast staff to serve the guest...The hotel is full of UFO figurines and this seams to be main focus of the owner. There is no management at all! Of course the rooms are spacious and the view to the mountains is very nice, bud dont look downstairs becaise the field is in mess and no one care. Honestly, I dont care to find cockroach in the room, we are in the pure nature, this is not comfortable but nothing to complain for me... worst the very bad bed and broken furniture. Aircondition with remote which doesnt work and have to regulata manualy...etc WIFI.. very very week and bad connection. One good point of this place is close to thee mai street with all the restaurants and shops... so only the posivitev is location... as other says no TripAdvisor! DONT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! There are many smal "pousadas" in the city, clean, sharming, confortable and with more atractive prices for what you expected!!!
