I want to say horrible things about this place, as I want it to stay the blissfully quiet place it is at the moment, buy it would be unfair. Pearl Beach is a little slice of heaven. It has 15(?) bungalows well spread out in a good size garden. Rooms are large, clean and airy. There is no aircon, but I never needed it as the seabreeze kept the island a lovely temperature but if you struggle with the heat this might put you off. You are straight on a lovely bit of beach and you can snorkel directly off it. The coral is beautiful with a good variety of things to see. Don't expect spectacular but it kept me busy. A delightful surprise was the food, which was freshly cooked with good local ingredients. The breakfast was also good. The staff are very sweet, with some amazing staff like the manager. Be warned - no WiFi and limited and not v reliable.in the restaurant if that is a problem for you.

We will definitely return to this place. There is shade and lots of special seating areas for everyone from the ‘library’ to the bales. The beach is clean and easy to swim and snorkel. The sea grass area left of the resort is good. Snorkeling trip to Gili Layar, Ringgit and Gede was very good. Only a short boat ride away. We were in the garden/Seaview room which we loved but moved to the Garden Villa further back from the ocean so that we could experience the birds and the extra huge porch. WOW. The bird life is one of the best we have experienced in Indonesia. We stayed a week. Found the staff faultless, friendly and efficient. The restaurant food and breakfast was delicious especially good is the homemade bread, flat bread, hommus and curry. The whole place and beach is clean. Massages are in a dedicated garden bale where you can hear the birds and feel very special. There is a gentle breeze that keeps you comfortable day and night, don’t need aircon here. Looking at the older pics I think this resort has been completely renovated as it is a lot smarter than those pics. There were no power cuts while we were there.

Pearl Resort Gili Asahan 4 night stay in a beautiful location away from the crowds. A nice yellow sandy beach and coral reef very good for snorkelling. This is a small resort with a slow and quiet feel. There are 10 or so very comfortable villas which have good privacy. 4 have Aircon and the others not. Ours didn’t have but we slept with the 2 large French windows open and mosquito nets over us. Virtually no mosquitoes around. Bathrooms very nice and outside. Completely private. Staff very attentive. Breakfast was fruits and cooked option with cereals. Good quality but they are only cooking for a small number. Only 4 villas were occupied when we were there. Lunch menu Indonesia but reasonable. Dinner only 2 main course options available which is too light. We took a snorkel trip to 3 other nearby islands which was excellent. Also I took 5 dives including 1 night dive. Jake at the next door small dive shop is excellent whether for expert or total beginner. Equipment is all brand new. He was a commercial diver before coming over 5 years ago. English guy. At the resort were particularly looked after by the manager Dayat who did a great job. Whole experience more Robinson Crusoe relax than busy 5 star resort. We will go back. There is a second resort on Gili Asahan which is a 10 min beach walk. It has a great Italian restaurant with good food and ambience. This side of the island doesn’t get the sunset and has a little mainland road noise but is also very nice.

This is not a place for those who want 5 star cookie-cutter "luxury". This is a place to dive, swim, read, sleep, eat fresh simple food with a beer or a glass of wine with minimal connection to the outside world (ie very intermittent wifi in the restaurant only). As others have noted, it's comfortable in the bungalows and with fans it is cool enough to sleep. The open-air bathroom is a pleasant touch with the lovely smell from the frangipani tree which makes use of the shower water. Lots of open shelters and lounges to get some sun or quiet. We came as a family on a dive trip from Kuala Lumpur (with the fantastic Scuba Mike's of KL). Fresh air and children running around outside- this was a good long weekend break. It's a fair trip- 1.75 hours from Lombok Airport across the island, then the short boat trip. But the moment you hop on the boat the world recedes and you see sea, stars and a simpler life. Jake at the dive shop runs a good shop- friendly, local. Visibility was amazing for both shore diving and off the boat- turtles, white tip reef sharks, nudibranches and fish galore. Loved it. We have just returned from our second holiday at Pearl Beach Resort, and wanted to let everyone know how lovely this resort is. The bungalows had been refurbished since our previous visit and are perfect, and the open air bathrooms are lovely. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is amazing (particularly the chicken satay!) and, as much as we want to keep it to ourselves, we highly recommend Pearl Beach for a relaxing holiday. We'll definitely be going back. Thank you to everyone who made our holiday so special!
