My husband and I spent a wonderful long weekend at Auberge Therese. We received first class treatment from the time we arrived to the time we left. From a beautifully stocked fridge with all sorts of tasty treats to helpful advice on wine farms and restaurants. The loft room is tastefully decorated with all amenities, and we genuinely lacked for nothing. Thank you Theresa for making us feel more like family than guests, we had an amazing time and will definitely be back.

I stayed over for 2 nights in the Le Grenier room. Beautifully decorated room with ample space and lovely views of the mountain. Theresa was very friendly and helpful. It is centrally located in Claremont with easy access to all main routes.

This B&B is located ideally in the heart of leafy Claremont, with very easy access to most areas of tourist interest. The neighborhood is quiet; and the Grenier, where we stayed, afforded a sense of privacy and seclusion. However, a few remarks to temper an otherwise positive review. (1) The Grenier's single-layer wooden floor is directly over the owners' twin garage, and the electric gate wakes one up! (2) If one goes in winter, the Grenier is almost impossible to heat. (3) the owners are charming and laid-back; but also hands-off. Our stock of breakfast was allowed to run out twice in our week stay. (The Grenier has its own little breakfast area and fridge, with stocks of coffee, cereal etc supplied.) All in all, would definitely stay again!

As a couple we stayed 4 nights at Auberge Therese.

It must be noted that both my partner and I are well travelled around Cape Town and overseas. Separately and together we have stayed at many different hotels, boutique hotels, BnB's and in peoples homes.
This was probably one of the worst accomodation experiences either of us have ever encountered.

On arrival we could not rouse anyone (16:00) to welcome us. After calls to the owners cell phone and the land line eventually we resorted to shouting for attention.

We stayed in the room at the back of the property for more privacy and because it has a kitchenette.
The room itself is "well appointed" emphasise on the "".
Basics are provided for but many of these are outdated, old and in urgent need of repair or replacement. The look and feel of the BnB is French Chic and we both chose this BnB because of this. However the room was more French Dirty Falling Apart than Chic.

The most urgent item is the bed.
IT IS HORRIFIC.
BOTH my partner and I could barely sleep on it.
BOTH of us needed chiropractic treatment after this stay.
The pillows are also lumpy and old. I eventually SOS'd a friend to borrow a pillow.

Other than that:
1.) The shower head is completely broken and was held together with cellotape (this very much irked my partner especially on seeing the owners installing expensive trellises and plants in the entrance to the hotel - why could they not take some of that money and replace a vital component of the bathroom!)

2.) The kitchen is well stocked but has an awful musty smell whenever one opens the cupboards

3.) The room is carpeted but on inspection is filthy. We had to wear our shoes constantly for fear of dirtying the bedclothes when walking to and from the bathroom

4.) There is not enough cubboard space - my partner did not unpack

5.) The wireless internet does not work continuously and should not be relied upon at all if one needs to do work

6.) The towels in the bathroom are in DIRE need of replacement - they are very old and almost threadbare

When we could sleep we were not bothtered by noise, the area itself is nice and quiet. Its also close to all ammenities and the high way.

The owners themselves do make themselves scarce in a good way - leaving guests to potter along.
However there is a downside to this:
Unfortunately I made the error of leaving my friends pillow behind.
By the time my partner and I realized we were half way to friends in Franshoek.
We called the owner - no reply on her cell phone (do not attempt to call her - she never picks up the phone). I then sent an email.
After a full week and a good number of emails and attempted calls that were never properly answered I eventually announced via email that I would be arriving back in Cape Town and would retrieve the pillow. No reply.
This kind of äfter sales service"is especially worrying if someone had to leave behind an item of value or a treasured "lovie"of a childs.
When I arrived to fetch the pillow it had been put in the laundry by the very astute helper. However the owner was less than aware nor that concerned.

The entire experience left both my partner and I thinking that the owners dont really give a damn about their guests.
I have stayed in BnB's in Cape Town that cost less and deliver 1000% better appointed rooms and service.

There is PLENTY of competition to choose from in the Cape- if I were a potential guest I would NOT choose this BnB.

Response from oceanauberge, Owner at Auberge Therese
Responded 25 Jul 2016
We are both concerned and mystified by the guests' response. The leaking shower hose was replaced the morning after discovery of the leak the previous night. The carpet is in good condition, and it is vacuumed daily. The suite regularly accommodates patients undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals, who would be the first to complain about an uncomfortable bed, and we have had no such complaints. The towels are good quality, and are replaced regularly. Our guests were repeatedly asked, during their stay, whether all was in order. They voiced no complaints.

Gracious host Theresa organised a wonderful celebratory brunch for us. The food was perfect, the setting was beautiful, and the effort that she went to to make it even more enchanting was much appreciated. Staying at Auberge Therese was an absolute pleasure, our room was so charming and the atmosphere so relaxing. We look forward to visiting again.

I spent a week in le Bijou, my own little corner of this gracious, old home. It felt like I was at home! I came and went as I pleased and at no time felt unsafe or uncomfortable as a single traveller. I would recommend Auberge Therese to anyone needing accommodation in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town.

I first chose the Auberge because of proximity to family in Cape Town, but would definitely return because I had a marvelous time there! The room was spacious, clean, comfortable and nicely decorated (I was in the Bijou). It had all the utensils I needed in the kitchen. The shoulder of Table Mountain was a lovely backdrop as I enjoyed the fresh air with my tea and rusks every morning in my private yard. Towels were changed daily except Sunday. The bed was very comfortable. At my request Theresa left me shampoo in the bathroom but there was also body lotion, cotton wool and lovely liquid hand and body soap. A warm welcome note awaited me, along with a lovely arrangement of lavender flowers and some wine for a sundowner! Theresa has a hands-off, non-interfering approach, which I liked, but was always immediately responsive whenever I communicated a request or had a question and gave me spot-on touring advice (even lent me an umbrella). When I left hand made biscuits awaited me in the room with a warm farewell note and a little branch of rosemary. I highly recommend staying here, I had a wonderful time! It is centrally located and the free Wifi worked very well.

My wife and I spent 3 months there. We had a wonderful comfortable stay which we thoroughly enjoyed. Theresa and Walter the owners made us feel at home from day 1 and we would certainly plan for another stay in the future. The accommodation is in a nice residential area with close proximity to some of the major places of interests in and around Cape Town. Thanks for making our stay so great. Andre and Micheline (Mauritius)

What a wonderful setting in beautiful Cape Town. We were made to feel very welcome and the rooms were lovely and cosy. The accommodation is very central and all of Cape Towns sites are easy accessible. We would definitely go back when in Cape Town again.

Our family spent the Easter weekend at Auberge Therese. We were welcomed eventhough we arrived early and were able to drop off our luggage. It was very well situated with easy access to shopping centres and main roads. Theresa recommended places for us to eat lunch, taking into account we had a small child with us, and advised us on takeaway places for our evening meal. The accommodation is very comfortable with a fridge, crockery, cutlery, tea, coffee and milk supplied. It was serviced daily, including Sunday, and always had clean, dry towels available. We were made to feel very comfortable in very relaxed surrounding. On Easter Sunday, our granddaughter loved her Easter egg hunt in the beautiful courtyard garden. It felt like home away from home and definitely worth another visit.
