I have been in the travel industry for over 20 years and I can honestly say this lodge's villa is top notch. The staff, amenities, peace and quiet, ambience and privacy are all excellent, the owners should be very proud. The attention to the finest detail in the villa are really impressive. Gerd accommodated us at the last minute and Cindi, Cynthia, Piet and all the staff made this a wonderful experience. Thanks so much to all. The only thing I would recommend is air-conditioning. While the fans help slightly, the stifling heat may prove a bit much for some at the height of summer. The private splashcpool came in very handy indeed. Btw, I LOVE your extremely professional and diplomatic reply to the ONLY two idiots who left bad reviews!

Second visit to ikhaya lamadube in 2023, but still haven't had enough of the place. From the reception you feel welcomed. Philip, Cynthia and all staff members are stars on customer care. The was a power failure during our stay but the owners didn't fold their arms and say it's Eskom problems. They Provided all guests with bags of wood and Ice. That's what I call hospitality.

One of the best places we have visited. The staff were friendly and helpful, from arrival to departure. Cynthia welcomed us with a welcoming drink. She and Phillip checked in with us every day to ensure we had everything we needed. Even with some power problems (due to an Eskom fault) the staff looked after us. We did not even miss the electricity and decided to stay an extra night. The staff provided us with gas, wood and ice- what more do you need!!!! We had an amazing time and could really relax from the everyday rush. We will definitely visit again

Worst customer service experience I have ever experienced. Talking as a individual who has over 22 years of customer service experience. I booked this getaway for my parents. I flew all the way from Abu Dhabi. I have never stayed in dinokeng and have only heard positive reviews. I booked 1 villa and 2 chalets. However, when we got there they checked us in as if nothing was wrong. When we noticed there was no electricity we asked the receptionist what was wrong with the power she could t answer. We later found out that they had no electricity since the day before and they failed to mention this to us. She checked us in as if it’s normal it was so hot it was at least 36-40 degrees C And they wanted us to stay there without ventilation and no power. And this is self catering units which means whatever food you bought was going to get spoiled and they had no idea what time the power was going to be switched on. Myself and my family was very uncomfortable I tried to get more information from the receptionist and she could not provide me any. I asked to speak to the owner. I was told that I the customer was being unreasonable because as a customer I have to accept that I am paying for luxery accommodation in South Africa that doesn’t always have electricity. But then they didn’t have any back system in place if the electricity gets cut. And you the customer just have to deal with it. Then have to be told that I the customer who paid 15 500 Rand to stay there was asking to much and being unreasonable for the fact that they could not be asked to send and email to inform us that hey had No electricity since the day before or try to accommodate us on a future date or half of the refund or a coupon. I was made to feel like I was a problem and I should accept it because this is South Africa. I have stayed in other places had problems and solutions was provided straight away. And I have gone back, I will NEVER GO BACK OR BOOK THIS PLACE AGAIN. They stole my money and made us feel unwelcome. And refused a refund. The owner was so rude she even told me that I had no reason to complain because she had cancer, and have been dealing with ESKOM all day. How dare you. Not to mention that with no electricity there is no security the gate is open. Meaning anyone can just walk in and they definitely do not have any sexy personnel on the property we checked.…

Dear Chantal, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely regret that the experience at iKhaya LamaDube didn't match your expectations. We always value feedback, as it provides an opportunity for reflection and growth. Please allow us to address and provide clarity on some of the points raised: Electricity Outage: While South Africa does face sporadic load-shedding challenges and has done for almost a decade now, our location has the privilege of often being exempt from such disruptions. Upon arrival, all guests including yourself Ms. de Waal, were briefed about an unexpected power outage by our receptionist, Cynthia, who has been with us for years and has never received a complaint about her service - the same receptionist who was in tears and distraught after this particular stay was concluded. Our check-in processes and in fact - laws of the country were also disregarded when guest identification was requested. “THE IMMIGRATION ACT 13 OF 2002 Guest Identification Requirements in South Africa This regulation is relevant to all establishments where lodging or sleeping accommodation is provided for payment or reward (including hotels, motels, boarding houses, lodges, guest houses, and apartments). Section 40(1) of the Act, read together with Regulation 36, states that all establishments must keep a register containing details of all persons who are provided with lodging or sleeping accommodation. This information must be collected irrespective of whether the guest is a South African resident or not, and must be kept for a period of 2 years.” Despite the power outage, our team immediately swung into action, providing solutions above and beyond to minimise the inconvenience. A generator connection was offered, as well as arrangements to preserve food in our freezers. Additional lighting was also offered. Unfortunately, this power issue was not something we could predict a day in advance and despite this being an isolated incident, our team recognised the potential inconvenience and relentlessly pursued solutions for your comfort. We’re certain that with the understanding you hold in the hospitality industry, you empathize with the fact that some situations are completely out of anyone’s control and cannot be predicted nor can guests/passengers be forewarned. Facilities & Amenities: In spite of the power challenges, our accommodations - as an authentic African bush experience, are geared to allow guests to continue their stay largely unaffected or dependent on electricity, with the availability of gas stoves, braai facilities, and gas geysers. Comfort and luxury is a very crucial part of our offering and it's also important to note that all our units are designed with ample windows and doors for natural airflow and ventilation. Security: It's important for us to set the record straight regarding our security infrastructure. Our electric fences are always operational - regardless of power outages. We have wild animals that roam the reserve and would be facing far bigger problems than intruders if our fences weren’t in working order. In our 20+ year history, we’ve prioritised and ensured guest safety, and there has never been an incident of crime. We always have staff on site and they are all thoroughly informed of security protocols and are extremely competent and vigilant. In fact, special care was taken to monitor the lodge because of your concern. Refund Policy: Even for larger more commercial lodges, last-minute changes and cancellations pose challenges. While understanding the concerns, providing a complete refund for an unpredictable incident, especially when mitigation efforts were in place, will not be possible. Every opportunity and offer we made to set any perceived grievances right was denied, rejected and met with hostility. While the circumstances were regrettable, it was not due to any oversight or effort on our part. Feedback from Other Guests: We feel it's essential to provide a broader perspective and we have subsequently considered your feedback, Ms de Waal, among the feedback from other guests during their stay. During the same period, not only did other guests acknowledge and appreciate our efforts but some even chose to extend their stay – a testament to our team's resilience, dedication to a stellar guest experience and reflection of true circumstances. Staff Appearance: As for the mention of our staff's appearance, it's quite bemusing. At iKhaya LamaDube, we hire staff based on their skills, competencies, and dedication to service, not their looks or “sexiness”. After all, guests typically visit us to immerse themselves in and admire the wildlife and tranquility, not to critique the physical appearance of our team. But, if you were looking to appreciate beauty, the serene environment and rich biodiversity here offer plenty which you may have experienced. Feedback propels our journey towards better and better customer service, however, maintaining factual integrity is pivotal. Nevertheless, we genuinely value your feedback and thank you for it and we remain devoted to the guest experience and shall continue to provide unmatched service, as we always have over the years. PS. It's disconcerting to see personal health challenges alluded to in this context. While the owner did disclose this with you in person, it was in an attempt to reason and connect with you considering the circumstances and done so in confidence. The personal nature of these remarks was entirely uncalled for and borderline abusive considering the serious nature of it.

We had a beautiful stay at iKhaya LamaDube Lodge. My husband and I booked the Log Cottage and to say it exceeded our expectations is an understatement. Beautiful, luxurious and tranquil. That's how I would describe our stay. The staff were also super attentive and very friendly. They are our stay comfortable. We loved our weekend there and would definitely visit again!

We were travelling to SA on a quick trip to JHB from Dubai. A friend recommended this place as we just wanted to get away for a few days. Wow, all I can say is Wow. We relaxed, saw nature at it's best and were introduced to the owners, Tienie and Gerd. Well done on creating such a sanctuary in the middle of JHB chaos.
