The complex is clean and well maintained. We stayed one night which suited our needs. The food and drink was average but the eating area [there is only one] is plastic chairs and tables and semi outside. So it attracts a lot of insects and bugs. You definitely need insect repellent to avoid the bites. The staff were good and friendly. The grounds kept nice. The lodges were clean but again we found lots of bugs in our room. The cleaner obviously keep the door open when cleaning. The tv in the room had one channel. Facilities in the room are modern but the double bed was small and mattress a bit soft. We had a treatment before leaving which was very reasonable but not the kind of resort we would probably come back to. I would rate the resort to a Butlin's type environment, absolutely great for families on a budge [the food and drinks bill was very reasonable] just not a lot of quality.

Dear Sam, Thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback and have taken note of the matters raised. Owing to our bushveld location and it being the height of the South African Summer our resident insect population is currently in greater numbers than usual. Our house keeping team do fumigate our suites, chalets and villas as and when deemed necessary. Kind regards The Kingdom Resort

Everything at this establishment works, we received a warm, friendly hello at reception when we arrived. The staff were well presented and friendly. Our self catering unit was, private, clean, well decorated, stylish and simple, without the usual cheap African curios and pictures which has become so synonymous with mid range resorts in the bush in SA, our unit was roomy and well laid out for our needs . The gardens were immaculate and all the public amenities were clean and well maintained . We would recommend The Kingdom resort to anyone travelling to the Pilanesburg area!!

Lets begin with any story at the start as soon as we got to gate we were welcomed by the friendly security and explained the protocols to check in great! The reception was friendly and explained about all the amenities which sound amazing to be honest for a first timer there.

The unit itself was great lots of space 2 rooms had its own bathrooms which was very nice. 3rd room was communal but there was no problem with it as we expected this of course. There was a dishwashing machine in our unit which is a first for me on a holiday unit. There was a lot of privacy as well.

They did advertise that there is a king size bed in the main room but yet there was 2 single beds and not covered so it can act as single bed which was a little disappointing as we fell through the middle of the two beds. Only real complaint but that is minor

But unfortunately our holiday wasn't as smoothed as we hoped as our geyser decided it wasn't making hot water no more and there was 3 ladies there who of course who needs their hot shower or bath after a day in the Pilanesberg. Called up reception they send maintenance to come and check it out but it was late and of course I can't expect him to sort it out at night so next morning comes. They go up in the roof and says they need more tools, well that is a shame no quick fix unfortunately. While they draining the geyser it leaked somewhere in the roof and leaked into my room and got my suitcase wet. Called up reception told them the problem and they immediately sent housekeeping and they dry cleaned some of my clothes that got wet which was nice and they even gave us restaurant vouchers for breakfast on Monday. They also allowed us to check out later than usual very nice

Now breakfast even though free was very disappointing the least we the food took about an hour to get out and not even at the same time. The food was cold and not very good unfortunately the manager was nice gave us free cappuccinos and even tried to entice us with free pizzas which we couldn't accept as we did not want anything else but only trying to inform them where to improve so that when we do go back it will be a better experience.

For many people these problems will be a bigger issue but I still enjoyed my stay there and will definitely return their customer service was great. If you have children they will love it there as there is many activities to do

So in September my wife booked the Kingdom resort. She made a booking on bookings.com and then I told her lets stay another night and then she found on another site for the same price but including breakfast so she booked that.
She called Kingdom asking can they arrange 1 room for us even though it was 2 separate bookings and was told to just come and sort it out with reception. Upon arrival the reception told us no we have to move rooms because of our booking was seen as separate, she would not give us one room that we could spend 2 nights ? Then it got worse our room that they booked , other people was staying in our place, looks like they messed up the bookings. I was given a card and walked into people laying on the bed, the receptionist couldn't believe it then all of a sudden we got our 1 room for 2 nights, what a joke, if they just gave that in the beginning like we asked that wouldn't of happen. also we asked since it was my birthday we paid the same amount on different sites can we get a breakfast voucher, she said Noooo! The service is kaka, they dont explain where the rooms are or take you to the rooms, they dont explain the shuttle times, they dont offer you complementary drinks or at least i wasnt offered. The bar at the slides was closed on a Monday unsure why reception could not inform us. you know, tell us how we get to the water park , tell us where is the cafe shop on the premises, say something dont just take our money and give us a key card because that is what happen to me, nothing special to rant about on my trip here, Ive had a better welcoming at the Spur restaurant . The rooms are basically shared in a house, the website does not explain this, we could hear the neighbors tv. lol the receptionist couldnt believe other people was in our room, I had to tell her if she doesnt believe me come and see for yourself, She was like "How I cant believe?" lol . anyway your water is freezing cold. Your receptionist messed up our first impression of the place on my Birthday of all days hence you get a 1 star for terrible. I dont remember my room number but apparently we did get an upgrade of which the cost is only like a 50 rand difference a day, didn't feel like it counted just to get a bath added to the bathroom.

Dear Guest Thanks so much for telling us about your experience way back in September ! Your input is appreciated and I am just sorry that it has taken this long to provide this feedback as it is obviously difficult to address these issues the longer they are left. The title of your posting says it all & it appears that some extra TLC from Reception would have made all the difference. This is not our standard procedure nor is this what we aspire to and I apologise unreservedly for this poor experience. As you will obviously appreciate, first impressions are vitally important in our industry and, from your feedback, it appears that we failed dismally. Please accept my apologies as well as the assurance that this has been addressed with the emphasis and importance it deserves Kind regards Dave Johnson - Resort Manager

We stayed at the Kingdom resort mid February 2020 as a party of 6 travelling from the UK. We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa with a splash pool. The room is fitted out to a high standard and there is everything you need in rooms. We had a BBQ and took advantage of this next to the pool. The restaurant is great and very good value for money, which was unexpected as we thought it would be the same prices as Sun City. There is a hourly shuttle which takes and returns you back to the resort.Sun City is a 10 minute drive.
You can book all the trips from the resort. We did a game drive and was picked up and returned back to Kingdom.
In summary i would recommend the hotel if you are looking for a cheaper option stay at Sun City.
One thing for the hotel to think about would be having beer on tap and not in bottles?

I was at the Kingdom Resort for 3nights and the treatment we got at the Body Bliss Spa on the 2nd day of our visit is shocking and agitating. The staff are so incompetent, unreliable and oblivious of customer care. Went to the spa for massage wearing my watch... before the massage session I innocently asked the therapist if I could remove my watch and I placed it with my phone on a chair underneath the headrest face.. after massage therapy the therapist took us pictures with my phone that she grasped from the chair and she placed it on the shelf after taking pictures and left us in the room. After I got dressed I took my phone from the shelf and entirely forgot to take back my watch from the chair and left the spa. When I went back to the spa the watch had magically disappeared. 3 ladies were on duty that day... none of them had seen my watch how shocking! and they said that no customers came for massage therapy in that room after we left. I reported the matter to the management and he sent the security who came in for our statements and said that he'd probe. It's been  2MONTH ever since the incident happened and as of now there's still no update from the security and as for management I'm the one who always call for update and last week he said that he would call during the week and  that he spoke to the director and he's waiting to hear from him on whether the insurance company would pay off or not. Still waiting no call whatsoever! This thing is so frustrating, not fair and becoming weary. I would really appreciate it if I could get my watch back /get it replaced please!!  Lastly, should my last appeal not be taken seriously I'm going to circulate my reviews on various networks such as email lists, Facebook, Twitter profiles, Hellopeter and on various travel sites.

This is a nice resort for families with small children, the staff were friendly and the unit quite modern and clean, although we had an aircon issue that only got sorted after two days, The resort definitely can do better with maintenance. I found the pools quite dirty and the main pool’s water was green as grass. The sitting areas around the pools were also not cleaned regularly, so we had to remove empty cups and bottles ourselves before we could sit down and the side tables needed a good wash. The bathroom amenities were surprisingly very clean. At 10:00 the staff were still cleaning the pools so the pipes of the pool vacuum was all over the pool as they are still cleaning till after midday. This should be done early mor before guests start using the pools. The sprinklers at the pool area went off around 12:30, waking my hubby and spraying him wet as he was dozing off for a quick nap. I mean it’s 36 degrees, such a waste to have grass watered at midday never mind spraying all the guests wet that are trying to relax. This resort is quite pricey, but just not wort the cost - we expected a lot more so we ended up being annoyed. The kids had fun though.

This was our third visit to the resort. We love its proximity to Pilanesburg for safaris, and to Sun City. Other visits have been marred a little by the haphazard service in the dining area. What a pleasant surprise this time! We had rented a two bedroom villa, spacious, clean and well-appointed. The a/c was not working properly in the front bedroom when we checked in, but within minutes of reporting the problem, staff were on hand to sort it out then and there. Our meals were all excellent, served in a timely manner with politeness and good-humour, and the changes to the design of the bar and restaurant areas make them more welcoming

I had high hopes for this resort but was rather disappointed in the end..

We stayed in Unit 4, its part of a block of units situated about 100m from the main road and entrance to the resort, the noise from the cars was irritating but barrable, but the noise from staff chit-chatting at the gate especially in the early mornings was extremely frustrating. The airconditioners are prepaid, and one would expect from the price they charged that this would be included. Needles to say, one of the airconditioners in one of the bedrooms didn't work, it had a gas leak and although the maintenance staff did fill it up twice, it last about an hour and then its empty again... The pool at the water slides is extremely filthy with black/brown residue all over the pool floor as well as green water.. I would not let my children swim in that pool. We were constantly remind to wear our mask in the convince store, but a manager was roaming around freely inside the store without a mask covering his mouth and nose. We had a wasp/hornet problem at our patio, maintained came once to spray it with doom, but we eventually went and bought our own insect Repplier to spray the wasps as we had young children with us. Our unit also had an ant problem in the kitchen, and if you didn't clean everything immutably after use, you would find the kitchen sink overrun by ants. The mattress in the main bedroom was properly worn out and it felt like we slept on the base itself...

I will not be visiting again, there are a few family resorts in and around the Pilansberg / Hartebeespoort area, the are cheaper and offer a much better empierce and value foe money...

Dear izaks2022, Thank you very much for your candid review of your recent stay at our resort. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us, as we strive to improve with each and every stay. We greatly appreciate your comments about aspects of the room and general areas in the resort that need updating. Regarding the swimming pool, sadly, the quality of our Municipal supplied water has steadily deteriorated and it appears that the mineral content of the same is even higher than it was previously. This results in erratic reactions to chemical dosing which discolours the water as you describe. This effect is amplified at the Waterpark where a combination of the high mineral content of the water and the chemical dosing react with the steel structure of the waterpark, creating the "rusty" sediment which makes this problem worse. As you will appreciate, there is no easy fix, we are looking at various options & hope to be able to resolve the problem as soon as we can. We are disappointed that these unresolved issues prevent you from visiting us again. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and for providing the opportunity for us to respond. Kind Regards The Kingdom Resort

Stayed 2 nights and it met our needs very well (chill after time in the Black Rhino reserve). They keep things simple (pay in advance, check in, check out, any extras inc breakfast settled at point of sale). Nice pools, uncrowded midweek. Modern, well equipped rooms with private sit out areas. Cafe/bar good for families, basic menu but good pizza. We had 3 issues with our room (bathroom flood, leaking AC unit, locked safe) which could possibly have been avoided with regular maintenance checks, but all were solved very quickly. Don't expect much from the "convenience store" unless you just need water, breakfast cereals and braai wood, and it closes at 1800 (inconvenient!?)
