Staff tried hard, but are restricted.
Kitchen could hardly be used.
Many facilities were out of order (e.g. tv, oven, panels, toilet seats).
It takes not much to upgrade the place to a highly acceptable level.

We were initially thrilled when we arrived. Great house in a great location. Unfortunately the painters were in the house. You couldn't go out on the balcony and the pool smelled like paint. All the loungers had been cleared away. The pool was very dirty. There were no bathrobes because you have to go through the restaurant to the pool and there is no changing room there. It was not possible to stay by the pool because a painter was spraying paint on the ceilings with a compress. The spray mist was basically everywhere. Why do you do renovation work just 4 weeks later when the season is over? The windows were so dirty that you could hardly see out. We were not offered anything to drink.
No drinks menu, nothing!
The television was missing, but we didn't miss it given the beautiful view with the smell of paint.

This is a rubbish place: We were there for a anniversary but extremely disappointed; Booked for 2 nights but only stayed for 1 at the end.
We booked a luxury room but were offered a standard room on arrival. Aki could not "remember" our call to him prior to arrival... The Manager Samantha were not available and to date have not returned our request to speak to her. Extremely unprofessional service. The "private patio" was a shared patio with 4 rooms - No Privacy at all; could never sit out on the patio in privacy. No TV set. They call a "empty mini Fridge" a Mini Bar, With the closest shops in the next town Houtbay. There is sewage smell from the bath room the hole time. No Aircon. Not close to the beach, have to drive there where very limited parking far away from the beach. The main photo to the beach on there page is not from the premises. Parking is small extremely tight and very steep to get in and out. Pillows are very old and "chunky thin". Vibrating noise through the night from maybe a water pressure pump? Water pressure in bathroom is terrible and often absent. Have to wait very long time for hot water. What they call continental Breakfast is disappointing. Want to charge R8 extra for a "flap Jack" and at R3500 a night "with breakfast included" you still have to pay extra for beacon and eggs... At 00h30 in the morning when guests return and they had to much alcohol, according to the duty manager, they were allowed by the same duty manager to have a party in the jacuzzi together with the Uber driver with very laud voices and music. Not only us, but also neighboring rooms got up to to try them to quit down so we can sleep. This rubbish place is completely over priced, deceiving and not even worth one star. When we complaint the next morning my wife were being accused of being a racist.... etc. What a terrible place. One good thing, they at least offer to pay back the money we paid for the second night after only staying for one night. You will not see us or any of our friends again.

First of all don't call yourself a 5 stars hotel when you are only a 1 star shared house. The view is beautiful but guess what ? You share the balcony with others .. what a joke. Once you step in the house everything is at a extra rate but a way too much overpriced ( tiny bottle of water : 20 Zar) wifi wasn't working in our room but why would you need wifi when there is no TV in the room (suppose to be a 5 stars hotel right ? ). And guys at night there will be a vibrating noise that keep you up all night this is the cheap CCTV they have put up there for your safety lol. So once you realised you in jail with everything overprieced you wanna go out but the uber don't come often up to the hill ( 18 and 21 mins for each uber we took). The continental breakfast was disgusting by the way. So yeah just stay away from this share house this is not romantic at all. And a special one for the owner, in france we have this phrase : too much art kill the art and you definitely destroyed the art. Poor set up

A stunning property the view faultless. Biggest problem an extremely poor breakfast on offer cheap products bread and lurosck served in their containers and wrappers. A small amount of fruit on offer . We and other guests went yo the supermarket to buy fresh bread proper butter cheese salmon eggs etc. I would go again are the owners aware of the poor breakfast situation in this beautiful property .

We are currently staying at the Marvel on Beach and unfortunately it is a TERRIBLE experience:

The view from the room is good but this is where it ends.

1. No privacy: shared balcony with no barriers.
2. No safety precautions: steps kept dark at night, when I went down to seek help with hot water, I could not locate the light switches, tripped and injured my toe (actually bled)!
3. You are locked in during the night as they do not provide you with key to the front door like similar facilities we stayed at on Garden Route.
4. Hot water takes ages to run which means wasting enormous volume of water in a water scarce area like the Cape; total shame!
5. No air condition which meant having to keep the windows open and in the absence of mosquito nets or screens sleep was impossible.
6. When I asked about water they said they only have large bottles and when I said they should have warned us before we went off for dinner so we could buy our own they then reluctantly gave us two small bottles last night.
7. Location: it is sea front NOT beach front. There is NO beach infront of the property. You have to drive to the beach and parking there is really difficult, I had to return to facility.
8. Breakfast is a sham and not even a continental breakfast!
9. Nearest restaurants in Camps Bay or Hout Bay, both are a drive of few KMs away
10. Certainly over priced.

We asked to speak to the manager “Samantha” this morning to cancel the next two night. We were told she is busy and does not want to talk to us. We were advised to go through booking.com. We know this will take at least 24 hours! We are also told this is not a hotel but a guest house.

Shame this is the last leg of our visit to this beautiful country and we shall unfortunately leave with such v bad memories!

The advertisement of this property is deceiving and is no more than 3 stars facility at most.

We had the Atlantic studio and it was incredibly beautiful. The view was fantastic. The room was clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious. After a few meters walk you are at Sunset Beach.
We would book this accommodation again. We had also booked a picnic on the beach, but due to the bad weather we had to move it to the room. However, this was still unforgettable due to the lovely decoration with blankets, pillows and lanterns and the fantastic view of Table Mountain and the sea.

The Marvel is truly marvellous. Tucked away in Llandudno, the 180 degree ocean view takes your breathe away. The house is luxurious and the staff are very attentive to your every need. Kalua and Alick went over and above to ensure our every need was catered to. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Thank you!

I have actually stayed at The Marvel on more than one occasion and the only words I can describe is absolutely MARVELleous...

From the time of arrival, the attention to detail and the service of staff made us feel totally at home. Each room is somewhat slightly different so each stay is a different experience and have noticed them also making constant improvements.

The staff is super friendly and helpful and the view with pool and jacuzzi is Heaven on Earth.

Walk to the private beach and Llandudno and Sandy Bay is only but a few mins away. I felt totally at home, and as a matter of fact, felt like it was home away from home. Am looking forward to my next trip and stay again. The chef is amazing and of course the coffee is the absolute best. Thank you Team Marvel 💞
