We had the most amazing 2 days with Dorie and Johan our hosts at Calourful manor. We celebrated a birthday and had special treatment with a lovely barbecue.
A real jewel of a place.
Spacious rooms, with a beautiful view of the mountains.
We had snow on the mountains when we visit and to have breakfast with a warm fireplace going, was just so amazing overlooking this spectacular views.

I booked a one day/night stay over just for me and my wife. WOW, is all I can say ..the hospitality, friendliness and overall WELCOME feel has captured by heart. My wife had such a beautiful rest with all her business. She is still speaking about our breakaway and we planning to definitely do another with our daughter.

Thank you!!!! Dorie and hubby

We stayed 3 nights in Colourful Manor. The views of the mountains are great. The view of the village and the sea is mediocre. Our room was big, but tired. No table to put our suitcases on. Some of the bedlinen had grey paint on it, towels were worn out and had holes in them. Although we pointed this out, they were not replaced. The Manor was run on a daily basis by a very young unexperienced couple who were hired by the owner to do the job on a low cost basis. The owners clearly have other interests to look after. The female part of the couple owning Colourful Manor did not do anything for the guests and was not interested at all in their well-being. It was quite clear that the guests were merely tolerated. Not more then that. She made us feel really unwelcome. We felt we were intruding in her day to day life and that she would prefer the guests to go. She and here teenage son used the guests pool on a daily basis and the were quite present. She must have noticed the chairs around the pool, which were in a dilapidated state and other things in desperate need of repair. Screws were sticking out of the deck, which is dangerous. This wasn't repaired either not even after showing this to the care taker. In short: no value for money, owners are clearly not interested in their guests, only in their money.

Colourful Manor was booked on my behalf and i was disappointed with the property. The people were lovely and when I addressed my concerns with them the owner did half the bill but I flet he would still do nothing to correct the faults. I have visited S Africa 16 times and this was the poorest Guest House I have stayed in. - Andrew Hill

I booked this hotel for my honeymoon trip to south africa. When I arrived at the lodge, it was not exactly as published on the website. It says 4 star on the website, but I would not advice to believe the ratings as the rooms did not have the air conditioning. It gets really hot in the noon without the AC. And in addition, the hotel is a little too far from the town. So if you are relying on taxi, you would have to spend a very huge amount for commute into and out of town.
However, I would still give this property a 3 star because of the owner(Lady). She was very humble and helpful. As soon as we told her that the property was not suitable for us, she agreed to refund the full money without any arguments.

What a disappointment!!! Website looks fantastic but you very soon on arrival realise you have wasted your money. Rooms are old and dated. Paint peels off in places. No air conditioner, no minibar, no fresh drinking water available in rooms. The little coffee station in your room gives you the idea of being in the army or in boarding school. The cheapest coffee stocked, old, crusty and not in enough to serve 2 people. No milk. You don't even get proper toiletries. Bathroom is stocked with the cheapest shampoo, I don't even bath my horses at home with. Towels are old and rock hard, you basically get a body scrub when you towel off. I was so grossed out. This place is a total ripoff and not worth a penny spent. Go read my other reviews of places we've stayed, I am not a grumpy old hag...just a very unhappy guest. We will be checking out early, and this place won't see us again.

We gladly offer you a two nights stay free of charge and i personally will overlook that your room is 100% in order. For any next time please let us know your complaints so we can solve any issues while you are staying with us. Paul Langeveld Owner

I booked my room 2.5 months in advance. They deducted the deposit the same day. I arrived to find that my room looked nothing like the photo's they use for marketing. The room was small, poorly furnished, had no air-con or fan, no TV and no fridge and all round very unappealing. The bedroom had no window, only a sliding door, resulting in the room being unbearably hot at night time. Breakfast was disappointing and the lodge was surrounded be the stench of sewerage. The bathroom was unpractical, there was no space to hang clothes. Staff could barely speak English and wasn't very friendly or accommodating. I would not recommend this "4-star luxury lodge" at all.

Absolutely fabulous settings for a guesthouse. The rooms were very spacious and the numbering was rather unique.Definitely has huge potential but there needs to be some changes made inorder for the place to rated higher. I was a bit disappointed that there was no door leading to bathroom hence no privacy if two people shared a room, a window pane at the entrance of the room was missing, the linen was not clean, the only available beds were twin beds( with no double duvets) which is not ideal if you planning a romantic weekend for two. The breakfast was very limiting The load shedding meant that there was limited ability to shower as there was no water available and when the electricity was turned on, the water was extremely cold, would be advisable for the owner to invest in a generator. Guests should be advised that the road leading to the Guesthouse is a gravel path and not tarred.Owner needs to be aware of South African PASA rules with regards to surcharging guests for use of credit cards as it is not permissible in South Africa
