Absolute perfection! What an astonishingly beautiful place. From the moment the gracious Patrick met us at the door we knew that this was going to be a special stayover. Beautiful buildings, in equally gorgeous surroundings, that are maintained to the highest level. The attention to detail in the wonderful decor is at a ridiculously high level. We absolutely loved all the memorabilia and the way things have been repurposed. All those fabulous old encyclopedias in the reception area and on the tables, the old luggage wall (my favourite), the old biscuit tins ......... too many to mention.

Every single staff member that we encountered was delightful, helpful, courteous and couldn't do enough for us. Special mention to Patrick (who is definitely the face of the place) and to Melinda who served our dinner.

Our room was a small standard, but had very comfort that we needed for a one night stay over. Impeccably clean and we even got a chocolate when they turned down our bed for the night.

Our dinner was fabulous. Both my husband and I had the Line Fish with veggies and declared it one of our best meals ever. Service was excellent.

This is a gem of a place in a lovely area and very close to the George Golf Club. When we return to George we will, without a shadow of a doubt, stay here again.

Highly recommended.

We loved this hotel in George, the decor was beautiful, our room was large and well equipped with a view of the mountains. The breakfasts and evening meals were delicious. The best thing, however, was the wonderful staff from Patrick on the door who helped us with our bags and golf clubs, the lovely reception staff, our waitresses, bar staff and housekeeping. Everyone had a smile and was warm and friendly. They organised a cake for my husbands birthday and then sang Happy Birthday at breakfast much to his embarrassment (& secret delight!)
oh and not forgetting the amazing peacocks that roam the grounds!
We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and are already planning our return visit!

We stayed for one night and everything went well. Hard to find flaws or defects, you have to be very very picky.
The room was large, spacious, clean and heated. Excellent breakfast with a good choice of savory and sweet. Possibility of free and secure parking.
All the people on staff were very sweet and caring with our 10-month-old daughter. Thank you.

Superior King Room - large and clean, everything new, perfect technology (2 USB, RSA and EU plugs, light in the toilet with motion detector. But no windows at all (just a glass door to the small balcony), open wardrobe with drawers as a closet, no pictures on the wall, ugly view of the outside area, poor sound insulation to the hallway and the next room (passage door not soundproof).

Beautiful old garden with 20 peacocks. Next time I would take a garden suite with a view of the pool, but it wasn't visible as a category on booking.com.

Very nice restaurant with open windows to the garden - excellent food with very friendly, professional service. The chef's instructions in the open kitchen, however, are a bit too loud...

Today was my 5 th visit - this time with an elderly friend who accompanied me to have morning coffee and cake. Once again the experience and inter reaction with all the staff from the welcome at reception to the waitress serving coffee was absolutely outstanding, all the staff were warm friendly and extremely caring toward a very elderly woman. It was much appreciated.
I cannot recommend this beautiful hotel highly enough

We four elderly gentlemen had an excellent lunch at The Hawthorn Boutique Hotel Restaurant. We are all well travelled in the Southern Cape, and for many years have had our monthly lunch at restaurants there. This place is rather special and is bound to be highly rated. It has only been open for a short time, but the ambience and service along with the cuisine make it stand out. George is lucky to have such an upmarket restaurant

The most wonderful hotel stay i have experienced in a long time. This place has excellent written all over it. I’ve been to George South Africa over 12 times and so glad I found this hidden gem. From our arrival we were greeted by Tamhi. An excellent and well mannered young man who gave us a full tour of the hotel and the facilities. Not to mention his help throughout our stay in organising a golfing trip at kingswood to being on hand if we needed anything in the room. To the bar staff in the evenings the two young gentlemen were absolutely first class and took care of all our needs. The staff were amazing and some of the best I’ve come across. Breakfast, what can I say wow, so tasty and prepared to perfection. I’ve stayed in many places across George South Africa and I can assure you this is the first place I would check out when returning again. Thank you for having us and I look forward to returning again soon.

What an absolutely amazing stay. Probably one of the best overnights we had. Congratulations on all staff that made us feel at home and gave their best efforts to make our experience one we will remember forever.

From the fantastic dinner with chocolate and wine pairing to the barman that gave outstanding service.

Rooms are comfortable clean and we had the forest view which enhances the tranquil atmosphere of this pristine boutique hotel.

You will definitely be seeing us in future.

What a beautiful hotel and wonderful staff. It felt as if we had stepped back in time in a great way.
From the moment we arrived we were treated so well. Patrick dealing with our bags and serving some lovely cold bubbly. Cindy Ann swiftly checking us in.
The room was tastefully decorated and really comfy. Beautiful view of the mountains and lots of peacocks to be seen.
We stayed here for 6 days using it as a base to explore. So central.
This hotel cannot be recommended highly enough. The staff provide a masterclass in service - exemplary in every way.
