Celebrating 40 years of welcoming guests as friends, the Ardagh is now in the third generation of the Bauvet/Berings family. Old fashioned rest, relaxation & the best food Connemara has to offer. One of the last small, family run hotels in Ireland. What was originally a quaint fishing lodge is now the 20 bedrooms of a four star establishment. The Ardagh has been lovingly restored into an unfussy, intimate hotel with individually styled guest rooms. Set on 6 acres of food and wild floral gardens offering both views of Connemara’s land and seascapes.

The Ardagh Hotel was our favorite place we stayed in during my husband and my 18 day trip to Ireland and Northern Ireland. It is in a beautiful setting on Ardbear Bay, just a few miles from the town of Clifden. I was pleased I had heeded the advice provided by other reviewers and chose a sea view room. We enjoyed a beautiful view of the bay. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed, flat screen and sitting area. The ensuite bathroom was adequately sized with good water pressure. The staff were friendly and very responsive to requests. Upon arrival, we were greeted, offered assistance with bags and taken on a tour of the hotel on the way to our room. Hot beverage and slices of cake were provided. The owner was helpful in offering suggestions as to things to see in the area and maps/ directions. You can tell the business is family owned and a labor of love. The food was wonderful! We had dinner one night, our best meal of the trip. The included breakfast boasts a generous buffet and a variety of cooked options. Everything we had was delicious. I highly recommend the Ardagh Hotel.

It was obvious a lot of thought had gone into this hotel: the location with a view of the bay, kettle set to boil for tea as soon as we stepped into our room, probably the best breakfast we had on our trip, a comfy lounge on each floor to relax. The hosts were friendly and knowledgable, and the resident dog Bruce was adorable. Wish we could have stayed longer

We stayed at the Armagh for a few nights last week. The owners are on site and are kind, welcoming, gracious hosts. The food is simply delicious, the vegetables are grown in the garden on site. The views are stunning. There are several areas to sit and relax outside the room that are cozy and quiet. Highly recommend!

Spent 3 days here as a solo traveler pros lovely hotel lovely food very friendly staff it's 3km to cliften Town however you would not walk to it the road has no footpath very narrow and winding way to dangerous to even attempt it I got 5 phone no to taxis I rang all five was told I would be waiting 2hrs before I could get picked up which is useless as a result I had to drive myself which if I had of known would not of stayed there. Driving out be very careful if your going to cliften its on a blind bend you have to listen if traffic is coming you cannot see at all I found it most uncomfortable food lovely breakfast lovely menu very limited and very expensive

We arrived in the Ardragh Hotel to be greeted with a very warm welcome and a tour of the Hotel, when we got to our room we got beautiful home made cake and they even put on our kettle for us. We went for drinks in the bar that evening before dinner, the atmosphere was so relaxing. The food was excellant with great choices from the menu. The view from the dining room was stunning with the evening sun setting. We had coffee in one of the sitting rooms served with home made chocolates after dinner. We would recommend the Ardagh Hotel for any occasion. We are looking forward to our next visit already. Ciaran & Evelyn

We had a lovely stay at The Ardagh Hotel last week. We were greeted upon arrival by Bruce - the resident dog and were given a very warm welcome - which included sticky toffee pudding! The room was very well appointed, with pretty decor and a generous sized bathroom. We were particularly taken with the hotel's interiors and furnishings - chic and warm. The staff were so kind and in particular Cynthia - who kindly took care of me though I was late to breakfast - such was my comfortable sleep! Belle, our little pug was thoroughly spoilt and the staff were very engaging with her. The hotel is in a charming location and it's the staff and surroundings that make it so special. We really can't wait to return - it's a hidden gem. Thank you. Samantha & Charlie Meehan.
