We camped at Oakrest in April. It is the most beautiful camp site, lovely grass on a sweet little dam. The views are unbelievalbe and the atmosphere is peaceful and inviting. Excellent ablutions and well equipped kitchen. Phillip is an outstanding host and nothing is too much trouble. I would highly recommend Oakrest to any traveller that enjoys the finer things in life : )

Beautiful hidden gem in the Klein Karoo. We camped for my 40th and will definitely be back. Well-equipped ablutions with a microwave, washing machine, fridge freezer, kettle. The lush lawns campsites are perfectly positioned in between the dam and the vineyards, which produce delicious wine :), and there are plenty of great hiking and mountain bike trails on the farm. Our time spent at Oaksrest was food for the soul. Thank you, Philip and Louisa! We cannot wait to be back on your beautiful farm.

We camped (much to short) at the Pinotage Campsite. Many thanks to Philip and Louisa and their sons, wonderful hosts, who share this valley with others. We arrived as clients and left as dear friends. Words cannot do justice to the quiet and beauty of this spot under the Ladismith Towerkop. Excellent ablutions and kitchen. With more than 50 years of camping experience at campsites throughout SA this one ranks among our top three. One we would love to return to. Two tips: Long and low clearance road caravans may have difficulty crossing the drift at the farm entrance. Wheel ramps help to level the van on parts of the sloping lawn.

The owners have large personal gatherings, up to 30 people in the small campsite. This spoilt our stay. Owner denies that these were day visitors and says they were all overnight geusts. Difficult to believe! Anyway we cannot use this facility again. This is absolutely unacceptable. Owners should refund us, although we can never be refunded the time.Sad, because this is potentially a very nice location.

Hi Best Camping,as mentioned before to all our camping guests is that stand nr 5 (Stands 1 to 4 is for Camping) is kept for the guests of all our other accommodation options to also enjoy the Dam and its facilities. Each stand has its own water entrance and facilities so that everyone can enjoy there personal stay with us.We as owners enjoyed the Sunday Braai with some of our other guests at stand nr 5 and we are very sorry that you felt intrusion even up to your stand nr 3.We did not offer a refund as you stayed 2 nights with us and we only used the allocated permissible extra stand for a few hours. You should have joined our Braai!!Greetings - Phillip and Louisa

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Oaksrest. The campsite has 5 pitches, right on the edge of Pinotage lake. It was super swimming in the lake. Rubber tubes are supplied too. Behind the campsite are vineyards. Ablutions are very clean and top class. Owners were extremely friendly and helpful. Electricity, Wifi and spectacular scenery. I would highly recommend Oaksrest to anyone.

Crimson cottage at Oaksrest is a must-visit for me when I travel from Cape Town to the Garden Route. The view from the porch is unrivalled and the spectacular light on the mountains never ceases to amaze. Every time I’ve been I wish I could stay longer. As soon as you turn off Route 62 into the Dwarsriver Valley you feel as though you’ve discovered an hidden gem. The cottage has everything you need, with attention paid to small details, and the owners are incredibly welcoming. Just go!

What a wonderful time we spend on this haven.Absolute beautiful setting between the mountains at the foot of Tower kop just off the R 62.Camping site to die for with a top class ablution block. The attention to detail on this farm is absolutely fenominal. The chalet’s and old farmhouse is a perfect location for group gathering and business meetings. Bring your bath-suit to swim in the farm dam like when you where a child. Brilliant will see me again soon.

My husband and I spent Christmas weekend at Oaksrest Vineyards Self Catering Cottage. The cottage was impeccable clean and had everything we needed. The stoep was a sure winner and most of our time spent here, if we were not out on the farm cycling, walking, running. I would surely recommend but most of all, will surely be back to this little gem.
