We camped here for 2 nights. The camping area was very well situated and well set out, with level grassy campsites beside a small lake, each equipped with a good braai place (and electric light). The real star of the site is the ablutions block, which is not only very clean, but very well-equipped, with kettle, sink for washing dishes, microwave, washing machine, and freezer. There are attractive and well-signposted walks in the surrounding vineyards, and the whole place is a very pleasant stopover, and would also be a good base for exploring the area.

I spent 8 nights at Oaksrest vineyards with my wife and 3 kids and can honestly say that this place is a piece of heaven. The 8-sleeper cottage is tucked away in the mountains and besides the absolutely breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valley, it provides a wonderful sense of privacy. There are walking trails into the mountain and several areas where we could ride with our mountain bikes. The farm is close to scenic Klein Karoo towns like Calitzdorp and Barrydale which made for good day trips. A highlight however are the owners of Oaksrest, Phillip and Louisa Pretorius. These delightful people were always ready to help with any need we had and also to cook meals on request. Phillip has a recipe for matured steak which will stand its ground against any top restaurant.
Oaksrest is 'go again' destination of note!

We arrived with the first good rains in four years. Phil the owner/farmer was so excited to show us around that it was a great start to our stopover, We were in the Pinotage Farmhouse which is beautifully equipped and so comfortable. Unfortunately the very welcome clouds were too low for us to see the mountains so we will have to return. A great place!

What a wonderful time we spend on this haven.Absolute beautiful setting between the mountains at the foot of Tower kop just off the R 62.Camping site to die for with a top class ablution block. The attention to detail on this farm is absolutely fenominal.The chalet’s and old farmhouse is a perfect location for group gathering and business meetings. Bring your bath-suit to swim in the farm dam like when you where a child. Brilliant will see me again soon.

We enjoyed every minute of our stay in Chenin Blanc Cottage on Oaksrest Vineyards Guest Farm. This stylish but very comfortable self-catering cottage is set among vineyards, with towering mountains as a backdrop. Phillip and Louisa, the friendly hosts, have thought of everything guests could possibly need. There are hikes on the farm, and a sparkling dam to cool down in. Excellent value for money.

We were a group of four couples who camped at Oaksrest for 5 days and despite heavy rain for the first two days, we had a very enjoyable time. We were the only campers and enjoyed the exclusivity, however, the dam is used by non-camping people occasionally for swimming, tubing, etc., so a vehicle would drive past us to the dam's jetty and this was the only time we saw other people at our campsite, apart from the farmer and his family. The ablution block was modern with hot showers, fridge, washing up area and even washing machine. There are lovely walks/hikes around the farm, up the surrounding hills and along streams. One has to be self-sufficient as shops are quite far away. One day, we went into Ladismith to explore the town, bought cheese at the cheese factory, enjoyed gin tasting and a tasty supper at one of the local restaurants. We were able to take our Yorkie which was great. The croaking of the frogs at night was loud, but we got used to them eventually. This was a very relaxing, quiet and peaceful camping experience.

Excellent location, well kept facilities. Ablution were kept clean and tidy at all times. As there is NO cell phone coverage in the area the free wifi is a winner. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and will definitely visit again.

We had a wonderful stay at Oaksrest in the aptly named Chenin Blanc Cottage. It was so peaceful and quiet with wonderful views. We were lucky enough to have a lovely late afternoon rainstorm passing through, making everything sparkling clean and smelling of nature! The accomodation was spotlessly clean with a wonderful bed and linen. Lots of lovely personal touches in the cottage. Great place to relax and unwind. We did not even bother to close the curtains...

What a beautiful place. Sadly for me it never stopped raining and I had to cut the trip short. The campsite is very well arranged (mine is rooftop, but perfect grassy sites with braai areas, electricity and floodlights. The ablution block is the best I have encountered at a campsite. Totally sparkling and complete with hairdryer, hand soap and towel. Massive shower and modern design. Kitchen/laundry area with A microwave, kettle and a camping fridge if you need it. Great attention to detail and I can’t wait to return when the weather is better.
