I decided to stay for one night with my GS Adventure motorcycle group. Great place to stay over. accommodation was comfortable, clean and there is a generator for load shedding. Showers were great. nice bedding and linen It was 43 degrees with we arrived, rooms were cool, the little plunge pool and beer service around the pool as most welcomed Service was good, food was okay, lamb tasted like older mutton, but it did the job, was tough and tasted like it was old ish. the staff were great and i will definitely stay there again. (i wont be eating the lamb chops again :))

The Royal Karoo Hotel was simply lovely. The rooms were big, and well equipped with everything you could need for a getaway. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and the staff were accommodating and helpful. Breakfast and supper was incredible. I highly recommend the lamb. Thank you for a wonderful stay we look forward to coming again soon.

As an English tourist I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Royal Hotel. Lovely rooms arranged in a quadrangle around the swimming pool. A wonderful experience of a delightful, small town, country hotel

Having read the reviews perhaps our expectations were too high. We arrived to an empty reception with no one to check us in. Were shown our room which was really well appointed. Had a drink next to the pool - idyllic. Had booked for dinner at 7 pm Went to the restaurant at 6:45 and stood waiting for someone to appear. 10 mins later we asked a passing waiter about seating. He said we were welcome to seat ourselves which we did. After another 15 mins without any sign of a waiter I went to the bar and asked for a bottle of wine and two glasses. The person behind the bar had no idea of the wines available but when I explained that we were waiting for service she took it upon herself to get us our drinks and to take our order. Eventually at 8:00 pm we were served our dinner An unacceptable wait To her great credit Blossom kept her head and did her best to manage the situation. Such a shame. With a manager present all the issues could have been avoided and we would have gone to bed well fed and content.

Die Rotsformasies by Draaikrans was fantamagories. Miljoene jare gelede was die Algoa See hier. Dit klink ongelooflik maar dit is waar. The rockformations were formed miljon years ago when the Karoo was at the bottom of Algoa Sea and the high-water temperature caused the rock to become soft and bendable. As the earthplates moved, interesting formations were formed, eg, Waaikrans and Draaikrans. Sien klomp vlae geverf teen die rotse. The Valley of Flags is part of the R 329, colorfully adormed with flags that have at some stage been National flags of South Africa. The flags were painted by a nearby Farmer pre-1994 and update after South Africa received its new The Lady De Waal Bridge was built in 1911/12. Dit lyk my Steytlerville is 'n plek van geskiedenis. Die mooiste skoonste dorpie, uiteindelik stop ons voor die Royal hotel. Ons akkommodasie vir die volgende 2 aande. Natuurlik is hier 'n swembad waarin ek gaan afkoel. The Royal Hotels decor is nicely done, and it lets you feel welcome. Each space was nicely done. The rooms were also classy and redone. The menu is good and there is a variety of food to pick from. The veggies are nicely prepared and worthwhile trying. The hotel is in the main street and walking distance of shops and the bridge. The staff treated us like royalty. We could even took our doggie with. Thanks for the treatment we received. It was very nice to learn more of Steytlerville.

Our last minute decision to drive out to Steytlerville for New Years Eve, turned into a perfect way to start 2024!! Brian and Blossom truly are amazing staff and from the minute we walked in we were welcomed, showed to our lovely rooms and were served and looked after all evening. They really have a passion for what they do and is an assett to the Royal Hotel Steytlerville. We will be back soon. Thank you for a memorable stay.

I reserved a self-catering cottage for our anniversary with specific requirements. On arrival we were informed that the aircon broke earlier in the week. It was 32 degrees. The Ashtrays outside the cottage was not cleaned. I also informed them that it was our anniversary. No personal touch. not even a printer happy anniversary card on the bed to make it special. A special personalized experience always ensures a return Guest. The gm was not on site the Friday of arrival +/- 14:30. And the staff had to move us to a room that was very claustrophobic. two twin beds were pushed together for us just to have aircon. We did not have supper or breakfast the next morning. On Saturday morning we were confronted by the GM - Johan Trollip in a very unprofessional and aggressive manner. No other solution was offered but to refund us and we returned home. Our whole anniversary weekend was spoiled. This was our first time to visit Steytlerville, and i can honestly say that our whole experience was spoiled. For us, it was never about the money, it was all about the experience and celebrating our wedding anniversary at a place that we thought will be special. This was our 23-year anniversary, and also the worst celebration.
