I will highly recommend Dorschfontein Guestfarm if you are looking for a tranquil stay in the beautiful Karoo with excellent hospitality and lots of opportunity for outdoor activities. During our stay we did trail running, hiking and went on a game drive. Following all our activities we were able to relax in a clean and cozy home with everything we needed. We also in advance ordered a braai pack with high quality meat as well as side dishes prepared by Karen which were outstanding! We will definitely return!

Dorschfontein is a special place. A most beautiful, working Karoo farm. Lots of stuff to do for adults and kids too, like shooting with a kettie (sling shot), playing "klei lat", rides on a donkey car, picturesque walking trails and much more. They also have a busman cave with ancient rock art

If you are looking for peace and quiet and recharging of your batteries, be sure that you will find it at Dorschfontein Guest Farm. Wide open spaces, great cuisine and friendly people. Went on a beautiful game drive and love the scenery!

I have already stayed more than once on Dorschfontein Guest Farm and plan to continue doing so because it is an incredible experience.
We live in the city and whenever we need a complete change of scenery where it is calm and quiet we go here. It has an incredible peaceful and old school feeling. It is still a working farm where the gracious and friendly owners Karen and Lian Erasmus live.
They farm with sheep, goats and cattle.
There farm is surrounded with mountains and is paradise if you are into hiking with many trails to walk. The beautiful and rugged landscape offers so much to see - from rare succulents and wildlife like Kudu, gemsbok, dassies, baboons, springbok, wildebeest. There are a few caves with rare Bushman paintings.
The farm is a mere 40 minutes drive to the Addo elephant farm.
They have restored the original farmhouse which was buildt by Lian's great grandfather and filled it with beautiful antiques and this house can be rented. There are 3 bedrooms and they use good mattresses and linen.
Karen is a fantastic cook and you can book meals with them which I can highly recommend. There is a very well equiped kitchen if you prefer your own cooking. I would recommend that you buy their organic free range lamb to have a braai under the star filled Karoo sky.
If you are into 4x4 exploring there are many incredible routes on the farm itself and in the area. Lian who is a 4th generous farmer has a wealth of information of the area and is keen to share it with their guests.
The main house is very close to the guest house where there is a pool that can be used on a hot summers day.
There is just so much to see and do on this farm and at the same time you can just do nothing and stare at the beautiful scenery.
Highly recommended.
