Our expectations were exceeded in every way. The atmosphere was warm and inviting; the decor sumptous. The staff without exception were friendly and provided excellent service. The room had all the luxury extras one would find in a 5 star hotel. We had our dog with us and there were treats and bowl provided for the 4 legged guest - brilliant extra touch.

Just spent 3 nights here for a short break. All the hotel staff at reception and in the bar/restaurant were all very friendly and attentive. The food was amazing and generous portions. It’s a great location for exploring the Peak District. Would definitely recommend this hotel. We will be back.

The people at the hotel and in the town are really friendly and for that alone we would return. Nothing was too much trouble and what a lovely small town with lots to see round about the area with Chatsworth close by

We popped in on the off chance last night to see if they had a dog friendly table available, which I’m very pleased to say they had. From start to finish everything was superb. The food was delicious, the staff were so friendly and the service was great. We will be returning very soon.

We just wanted one night away for a change of scenery. On phoning the hotel we were offered B and B at a reasonable price. The hotel was centrally located in a lovely old building in Bakewell. Car parking was is a small car park opposite, free on a first come, first served basis. Arriving at 2pm on Saturday,we bagged one of the last spaces. We had to cross a busy road to get to reception but our room was in an annexe which is where we had parked. The room was small but comfortable and nicely decorated. The beveages and other goodies in the room were avove average. The en-suite was a good size and well stocked with toiletries. The floor was a bit dusty but no worse than at home! We were even provided with bath robes, which we didn't use. We didn't dine in the restaurant as we had booked a table at a nearby pub, but we returned to the hotel for a drink at the bar, which was comfortable. There was a coal fire in a lovely old range. The bed was comfortable. We enjoyed a full breakfast the next morning. Bacon was a bit dry but that didn't put me off eating it. Overall, an enjoyable stay and we would recommend this hotel.
