We spent two nights as a family of six and had rented three rooms. They were all placed in one area next to each other which was great. All the rooms (or suites) are very well appointed and incredibly comfortable. Our rooms were huge and each had a kitchenette, microwave etc. They were able to accommodate my daughter's dog for a small fee. The Hall is five minutes walk into Bakewell and has on site parking which was a little tight but perfectly adequate. This will not be the cheapest stay in Bakewell but it will certainly be the best and most comfortable. Highly recommended. We will be back the next time we visit the area.

Thank you for your review Steve. The three suites work well together and with two of them having an inter-connecting doorway between two of the suites, and a third suite next door in the same area of the hall with its own entrance lobby, which creates a private wing. The comfort in our suites is important and include a dining table, kitchenette, sofas, and super king-size beds. We look forward to your return to Bagshaw Hall.

We loved the Hall with all its charm. A hidden gem indeed, with friendly staff and very close to Bakewell town centre, which was a stroll away. The Manners pub was top notch lunch and we dined out at The Woodyard in the evening which had great cocktails!

Thank you for your review Jessica. The Hall does have a romantic setting and in particular the French Chateau style rooms are very popular as honeymoon suites and we very often have anniversary returns. We also offer a range of romantic packages which add to the welcome on arrival.

Just spent two nights at this vastly overpriced and unfriendly b &b. Nice house, nice room, very nice helpful chap called Nigel. BUT, the two women we had the misfortune to speak to and see were awful ! We arrived about 5.00pm and our room wasn’t even ready and the bed wasn’t made. The TV didn’t work either, until Nigel came and fixed it. One of the women arrived and immediately was ONLY interested in the MONEY , full payment there and then. Money, money, money. The shower was ridiculously bad and dribbled out over the top of the shower head. In the first morning one woman came to our door with the breakfast which was a pretty rank cooked plate and a continental breakfast consisting of one croissant , an apple a yoghurt pot and for some reason a small plastic covered chilli flavoured cheese bit. When we got back from our day out, the bed was unmade, the towels were on the floor and the dirty breakfast things were still there. When we questioned this we were rudely told by a Scottish woman “ the room isn’t serviced “ “ I can’t be responsible for you not being told that “ COVID was the reason for the breakfast stuff not being collected even though she insisted on barging into the room to give it to us, whilst my wife was in bed ! She said they wore gloves whilst they cooked it 😂, yeah, of course they did !! One of the women questioned how we got on there and was quite put out when we told her. She said she’d tell the owner but we think she was the owner. These women ruined a couple of nights we had looked forward to. Appalling ! And cost us £170 per night !! Sooo overpriced !!! Never go back.

Arthur seems to use the word "nice" a lot which is a good start, but the nice helpful chap called Nigel, is actually called Martin, who is my son-in-law. This is very much a family business and we pride ourselves on being extremely friendly to our guests, as you will see from the many Trip Advisor reviews and particularly in our visitors' book from the many people who stay with us; and being open since 2008, we have also established a wide range of regular guests returning to Bagshaw Hall. Nigel, sorry, Martin, showed Arthur how to work the remote for the TV and explained that we had been so busy the laundry company had not managed to deliver before 5pm, but this was soon resolved and the bed had been made ready to take the missing duvet cover as soon as it arrived. Money is an essential part of running a business and our usual payment terms are the day before arrival. As this was a last-minute arrival we quite rightly requested payment on arrival. We have checked the shower, which works fully when the control is put on full and not part way, it seems Arthur has a problem with controls! Not sure what was “pretty rank” about our cooked breakfast, which I serve to the rooms at weekends and I, therefore, know first hand that it is greeted as excellent by the guests I have served, even to the extent of receiving a tip on most occasions from our normally friendly guests. The continental breakfast has a fuller range of contents including orange juice, croissants, toast, cereal, fruit, etc, etc. We do explain that we are not servicing the rooms at the moment to avoid the risk of spreading covid, and as there is a mini-kitchen in all our suites, our guests actually wash up their breakfast things if they wish, or place the tray outside the room for collection by staff. Arthur refers to being rudely spoken to by a “Scottish Woman” why mention that she was Scottish? Is this a problem? Carol is our receptionist who handles all enquires and guest requirements and she is very friendly and efficient. Arthur seems to have a problem believing anything he is told, even to the extent of stating that Linda our housekeeper is the owner, when my wife and I were having a break in Spain during his stay.

We Stayed for 3 nights, room clean with fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. There was a Tv, hairdryer and radio in the room. Also table and chairs. Very comfortable. Very short walk down hill to Bakewell. The location was very quiet, no noise from the other rooms. We would stay again.

The furniture and fixtures in this beautiful old stone building were completely inappropriate, in my view. I think the designer was aiming for quirky but it was more like bizarre. Modern, plasticky built in kitchenette plus mirrored vanity unit and glass table. A free-standing bath in the room added to the strangeness (and I know it's supposed to be trendy). Having said that, the bed was big and comfortable and the shower was good, once it was working (the boiler malfunctioned on our first morning and we only had cold water). Tiny bars of soap seemed a little inadequate too. The staff were very friendly and helpful and most apologetic about the cold water . The parking was very tight indeed though we did manage to squeeze in with a bit of effort. A good location though, just out of the town centre. Considering how much this cost, we found it very disappointing. Such a shame.

I am the perfect person to answer this review as being the owner, and an Interior Designer I can answer the décor comments. Whilst I appreciate this is a personal view of this guest from Harrogate, that is a great coincidence as I won the Northern Interior Design Award for the best hotel interior for The West Park Hotel in Harrogate, and have worked on many hotels in the North, including the iconic Midland Hotel in Manchester. I, therefore, feel I don’t need to comment any further on this guest’s views on Interior Design. I personally went to top up the combi-boiler within 5 minutes of this guest informing us of boiler malfunction and it was rectified straight away. Your appreciation of the large super-king-size bed and the walk-in showers and our friendliness shows we make every attempt to satisfy our guests comfort during their stay at Bagshaw Hall.
