Cottage was nice but could be better. Never been before so when we arrived at 2.45pm a little earlier than expected we went to reception and saw sign saying closed till 4pm for non residents we didnt feel v welcome. Wording might need to be revised. i decided to go in any way... The lady sitting just off reception wasnt sure our cottage was ready. After 10 min we found out it was. we were directed to park out front then move to the side car park. No other conversation. This is where i would have liked to be told if you want to eat we're v busy, please book now (yes i ignored email saying to book online as i didnt expect mid-week to have no availability) or im really sorry the restaurant is fully booked for next few nights... we can recommend a few places locally... Nevermind. On getting to our cottage the door was very stiff. If my disabled mother or son had been on there own they would have complained but my husband and I managed to push it open. The place was simply furnished which we expected due to some Covid restrictions still being in place... there was no welcome pack or info in cottage so we had to go back to reception for wifi code... the ladies there conferred and gave code saying there should be a plaque wigh it on... there was not. On inspection cottage No.5 was light and airy. Enough space and kit for our stay but some diy needed bathrooms and bedrooms as look a bit worn. A lick of paint and some of the cracked bathroom tiles need replacing... . Wonder what they did during the months they couldnt open... didnt really afect stay. Bed was comfy. My thrid visit to reception in the afternoon is where we found out that the restaurant was fully booked for next two nights... They offered to check Friday but we though if fully booked on a Weds and Thurs not much hope for a Friday night so we cant comment on the food or bar service as we ate elsewhere. We discovered very hot at night so a fan would have been nice in bedrooms... We left on Sat morning and returned key to reception for checkout and got a thankyou. Nothing more. Customer service is the only thing we found lacking... Maybe we were unlucky with experience but it could have been a hidden gem if greeted as a valued customer... thats why only 3 star given.

Second time on business in the local area in the last 4 months. Found the place on google. Called and spoke directly with Caroline who couldn't do enough and even called to check if we wanted a table for the second visit due to covid restrictions. She did this off her own back knowing they’re busy and we had travelled from Dorset. So to arrive and not have had a table booked after a 6 hour drive wouldn’t have been great! Attention to detail and a lovely appointed room. Everything you need for business travel and I’m sure the family rooms / set ups will have similar quality! Lovely place. The choice of drinks and food also surpasses expectations. You won’t be disappointed. The GM is a great guy also. Likes to chat. Friendly and does a good job guiding a hardworking team! Well done all of you at Longlands!

Thank you for leaving us a 5 bubble review and your kind words and compliments. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and Caroline will be delighted with the name check. We pride ourselves on good old-fashioned Northern hospitality so thank you for your comments. I will pass your compliments on to the whole team - who will laugh at your comments regarding my 'liking a chat' - perhaps an understatement!? We hope you will visit us again when you are next in the area. Warm regards Rob

Stayed for two nights with some friends so we could complete the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. Wonderful cottage, very accommodating staff, we were too tired to eat in the restaurant and despite having a wedding party and being very short staffed, they made us fish and chips to go! Could not have asked for better service and the breakfast was also fantastic before we left. Will definitely visit again....

We have just spent a wonderful weekend for our "3rd" wedding! Our original day was the 12th June 2021 due to having to be postponed last year. We hired the room and had our legal ceremony with covid restrictions and Rob and the team made it a lovely day. We came back on Saturday with more guests and celebrated properly with our evening do and everything was set up wonderfully. We had a brilliant time and Rob couldn't have been any more helpful. We stayed in the cottages both Friday and Saturday evening and had a evening meal on the Friday and breakfast both mornings, all of which were lovely. Due to them working on very minimal staff, there was a delay on breakfast on sunday, but this is understandable due to the current circumstances. The only thing I would say is that we were told that there would be an additional linen charge of £30 on a zed bed for my son in my mums bedroom so we just brought our own, which again wasn't an issue and would expect to pay a small charge for laundry costs, just thought £30 seemed steep! But other than that, everything was wonderful!! Thank you so much for making our wedding amazing!

Thank you for leaving us a five bubble review - we really appreciate it and are delighted that you enjoyed your wedding. The £30 charge is for the z bed hire and linen on it - it is a service charge and includes breakfast which is normally £15 per person. We hope this was made clear to you on enquiry but you were very welcome to bring your own linen. Thank you for the name-check and I will pass on your compliments to the Longlands Team. We hope you will visit us again - maybe a regular anniversary jaunt?? Warm regards Rob
