From the time we checked in to our departure every staff member treated us amazing. We want to mention some very special staff members who shared care and interest in not only serving us, but knowing who we were as people. Big shout out to the pool staff members: Brandon, Victor and Marvin. While we were served by others, we found them to be the best of the best. Also kudos to Vaughn who also was super friendly and engaging while dropping off our food. Housekeeping was amazing, our room was top notch! We frequented the lobby bar (which we wished opened before 4pm) and loved the greeting and interaction each time with Daryl, Dustin & Patrick. They made the experience that much better. We hope to be back soon.
This is one of the most fantastic properties I've stayed at in the world. I've been fortunate to stay at some of the best properties in the world but the Ritz Carlton in Kapalua is certainly among the very best. I stayed here many years ago when it was first built and then again in August 2022. We retained several rooms for my family. All were newly renovated and had magnificent views of the ocean and pool area. The food and hospitality at this hotel were also outstanding. I'd highly recommend this to anyone wanting a trip of a lifetime.
Just spent 5 days here with my family of five. Staying in Kapalua vs the other areas is a no-brainer. I’m sure Montage is really nice but 4500/nt when you can stay at Ritz for less than half that is an easy decision. The hotel grounds are amazing and the service was unbelievable! Angie at check in was great. Kim took care of booking zip lines and a last minute luau (these sellout quick), Pablo, Jessica and Alberto in the club lounge spoiled us. The valet even went above and beyond to find us some chairs and sand toys for our trip to the beach. I have stayed at probably a dozen Ritz properties, but I put the service and the club lounge (which is brand new) as the best I have ever seen. The rooms are showing some age, but clean and spacious. Looks like they are doing some renovations to a section of the rooms now, but you wouldn’t notice the construction so don’t let that deter you. This property is on 50+ acres. Make sure to get club lounge access. It is totally worth it just to have breakfast and drinks all day. They even helped us pack snacks and lunch for a trip to Hana. Also, beach on property is very rocky and water was choppy. Makes for great tide pool exploring, but take the 5 min shuttle down to beach in front of montage for swimming and snorkeling. It’s calm and great for snorkeling. Last thing… buy a full face snorkel for the entire family! I saw a few people using them so I bought them and they are absolute game changers!…
Service: The reason this places ranks a 5 star is because we noted that most staff try to do something within their power that exceeds expectations. Whether it is Kim at concierge, Lynnette at front desk or Nate at the pool (and there was more but I don’t have every name) we found that most staff was trying to give the best experience. We also had to get hotel help with toll free calls (incompetent United Airlines) and with a very suspicious recovery but all went well in the end. Location: Unlike many other properties close together on the Lahaina beach strip, the Ritz enjoys a relatively large, secluded spot near the Kapalua trail and the PGA golf course the Plantation. There are some places that are nearby which you can access by their shuttle which will take you anywhere in Kapalua, but in general, you will need Uber or a car rental for many activities outside the property. The Rooms: Rooms are mostly the same except for larger seaside ones. They are clean (but don’t look under the bed). They will have a nice bathroom, a coffee machine, a safe and television with many free streaming options. You will also have a balcony. Noise; As a general rule, the farther you are to the ocean side, the quieter it will be, regardless of what side. The reason is you are farther from activity, and elevators, and amenities. You will still be able to hear noise through the door - especially if you have an adjoining door. For the most part people were considerate, but I have read people can have issues, if for example, they are close to the pool. Note there is also construction going on on one floor and outside on one side. We did not notice where we were at but it could be a factor for you. The Property: When you walk in you will immediately notice a lobby lounge and bar open to the ocean side. When you look out there is a cascading three pool arrangement surrounded on three sides by the hotel but open on the ocean side. Under the lounge is a restaurant open for breakfast. Outside there is a bar and restaurant open for dinner. There is a spa, workout room, and various shops in the building if you need beach wear etc. The property has its own beach access too. Towel service is provided at beach and pool until about 5pm. If you are leaving the hotel you can pick up and drop off towels with the guys who handle the cars at the main entrance vehicle turning circle. They can also give you cold water to go. Food Options: In addition to the breakfast full service restaurant, there is also a cafe in the lobby area for takeout and coffee but they also do snacks and breakfast items too. This is a great option. They open from 6am to 4pm. The restaurant the Banyan Tree is good to try at least once. Service is good and they have a good seaside view. You can also walk a really short distance to some places just outside the Ritz such as the Honalua general store that does coffee and hot food takeout until 2pm. This also includes breakfast if you want a change. There is also a bar and burger shack near the beach with seating which closes promptly at 4pm. Activities: Read the hotel activities and take part in a few. Staff are good and many times there are few people participating so it’s almost like a personal session. If you came without activities booked, the concierge desk can do a lot for you from snorkeling excursions to helicopter trips to a Luau, and even rent a car directly from the hotel/Hertz. They also have a basketball court and a children’s outdoor education centre. Overall: A good trip.…
Our visit to this wonderful hotel in July was during our first time in Maui, Hawaii. We appreciate its excellent service and high-quality and well-trained staff who were cordial, polite and serviceable. The view of the ocean from the hotel is magnificent. We love the bar looking over the beautifully designed swimming pools. A very terrific and enjoyable moments of our stay in Maui.
The accommodations and staff at The Ritz Carlton Maui are outstanding. The lobby and lounge offer stunning views of the pool and ocean beyond. Our rooms were well appointed and house keeping didn’t miss a thing. Every employee we have interacted with has been caring, friendly and extremely competent.
Poor value for your money. First, the good: great customer service from the concierge staff, housekeeping, and valet. Besides these departments, service and attitude from the staff was very mixed. Several times, I felt like I was bothering the staff with a question (my questions were usually quite simple). Our room was an ocean view suite. There were carts rolling by so often quite noisy, although I appreciated being on the 6th floor so we didn’t have to use the elevator. Extremely windy in this part of the island, even in June, which made the beach and pool experience unpleasant. It was difficult to relax at the beach with sand blowing into my eyes and my kids’ eyes. Beach chairs and umbrella cost extra too, no other major resort here charges extra like this. Not a family friendly hotel, no welcome amenity for the kids at check-in and very few on-site classes that other resorts would often have.…
We truly enjoyed our stay at Ritz. Kapalua is very quiet, and the hotel is a treat. The hotel did not provide an ambassador upgrade due to suite renovations, but the standard room is spacious. We love the small pool and the story behind the Kapalua area. The service is awe-inspiring, and we hope to come back in the future.
Recently enjoyed a week at the Ritz Kapalua to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The team went over the top to ensure we had a very memorable stay. Our room was on the 8th floor with an excellent view of the pool, ocean and stunning sunrises, along with access to the Club Lounge. FYI - They are creating a new club lounge that should open soon and the photos look incredible. We utilized the lounge every day and the staff, especially Laura & Albert, provided 5-star service with every visit. I definitely recommend the Club level if it is available. Our thanks to Andrew Rogers (GM) and his entire team for a vacation we will never forget!!
Trying to make up for the past two years of COVID-19 by charging way to much for everything. Cigar lovers find another place to spend your money. Fisherman, same thing...bottom fishing with kids for 4 hours shouldn't cost $1,600 anywhere in the world. There are much better alternatives.
