I spent a week with my husband and our dog on the camping "Le Ranolien" in one of their cottages for two people (Cottage le Grand Large). The camping is nicely located, close to a hiking trail as well as to a couple of small towns. The cottage itself was really nice (even if it looked different than on the pictures from the website) and had everything you could need (kitchen supplies, BBQ, etc.). The camping has WIFI, although the quality is really bad. The access codes to the WIFI were included in the booking of our cottage, otherwise we would have had to pay 15€ per code for one week. This price is quite exagerated considering the bad quality of the internet. There is a little store on the campsite and a little newspaper shop. You probably need to go to a bigger store to buy all the essentials in the beginning of your stay, but the little shop also has quite a big range of products. The pool looked really nice and big. We didn't use the pool or spa area though, because there were too many people there. On the website of the camping you can read their sanitary mesures related to COVID19 and there is an information that says you need to download an app to your phone to book you spot at the pool (to avoid too many people in this area). Once we checked in, nobody mentioned this app or any particular rules or restrictions. Many people walked around with no masks, not keeping their distance. Even the cashier from the newspaper shop wasn't wearing a mask at all. This is why we spent most of our time in our cottage and didn't participate in any of the activities or used any of their services.

We stayed at the camping Le Ranolien in Summer 2020 for one week after reopening. First impression after arriving was a very proper, well managed Camping Site with good organized hygenie measures due to Covid19. Staff is extremly friendly and very fast in solving issues. We booked a Mobile home for 4 people and it was very clean and everything you need is in a good condition (except the barbeque). Landscape at cote granit rosé is gorgeouis and we took lots of hikings near by. We can fully recommend Le Ranolien.

We did the Dover to Calais crossing and nearly 9 hours later on a Sat evening in July 2020 we arrived. We should have done the Plymouth crossing but hey ho. We chose a modest 4 birth cottage given the next week it is my husbands birthday so we were moving to another Sandaya site further south and upgrading for the occasion. You get what you pay for and for 1000 euro's we have a tiny little place which was very clean but very basic. The weather was pretty cold and rainy for the first couple of days which limited the things we could do. All pools are heated to an okay temp around 31oC so the kids still swam and enjoyed the many pools, slides and splash areas. The kids play area is really very good, safe and clean. The kids club is easy to book through the app with plenty of opportunities. There isn't a drop off option, it is not on all the time, there are two main sessions 10-12am and then 3-5pm. They had a pajama picnic twice a week 7.30-9.30pm which the kids absolutely loved. The sessions are released on the app a day or so in advance and get booked up within a few hours so you have to be on it so you don't miss out. My kids befriended a kid down the other end of the site and we took her along to the club but their parents had not booked her in They didn't mind despite it being full and added her to the list. They are friendly and flexible. There are a couple of restaurant on site, very clean and nice, with an outdoor eating area near the play area which had takeaway outlets which did very nice pizza, all reasonably priced. So we could eat outside as the kids played and get a drink from the bar if you want. There is also an inside bar which has the evening entertainment on, it sounded very cheesy and not my thing but there if you want it. The supermarket onsite was also very reasonable in terms of price and had most things you need.. No one is trying to rip anyone off here. Oh one thing is that boys/men have to wear real speedo type swimwear or those tight shorts made out of the same material. You cannot wear swim shorts that are not made out of lycra type material because they say you could have worn them all day and it is not hygienic. They sell these types of swimwear onsite and range between 9-18 euro depending on style. The swim area was not busy (due to Cov-id I expect) however they were still monitoring the numbers by making you re-book your place in the swimming areas every hour via the app. One person from your group would have to get up, leave and re-enter the venue to trigger your new session. Once you understood exactly what you needed to do, it was not a hassle but at first it was a bit confusing. Should it be at capacity I can imagine you would not be able to re-book so easily and possibly have to leave and come back later in the day. We did not have any trouble. The camp site is very safe for kids, of course cars are coming and going since you park at your plot but they do go slow so my kids got on their scooters everywhere and I was never worried, it felt very safe. The best thing about the site I think is the location. Beside the site being right on the coast with a lovely coastal walk and steps onto the rocks/boulders which you can explore for days, you are a 15-20 minute walk in all directs to the most beautiful beaches with little restaurants and shops. The scenery is stunning. All in all a good stay. I gave a three because the cottage is very basic and although we managed and the site itself was great I still could not give any more than this.
