Detailed Reviews
We had often wondered if this place was open as driving passed at night there was very little lighting to see. It had been closed for 4 years, but yes it was open so
my husband booked a table for 2 to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were greeted and shown to our table where we ordered drinks. There was a Christmas menu or the table de hote to choose from, we chose the latter. I must admit we were a bit worried we would receive slow service as there was a large party in the function room, a party of at least 16 at a table near to us and a few smaller table also occupied. Worry unfounded. Our drinks arrived promptly with a complimentary bread dish, and our choice of menu was taken. We waited about 20-25 minutes for our starters. I had mussels in a sweet & sour juice - interesting & delicious. My husband had the battered calamari, or was it squid, didn't matter he said the batter was really light and equally delicious. Our main course of lamb rump was beautifully cooked and was accompanied by a fondant potato and nicely crisp green beans. For dessert I chose the Chocolate Brulee whilst my husband had the Chocolate Fondant & was it Orange Sorbet. Both top notch. All in all a first class meal and congratulations to those in the kitchen. The waiter/waitresses were friendly, helpful and efficient. We will certainly go again.
One negative - the lighting in the car parking area and in front of the entrance was poor, especially, if like us, you are old and your eye sight isn't what it was! There were lights in the car park but they were not switched on! But all in all a good place to recommend.

Attended a recent retirement do at the picture perfect Clwyd Gate.
Beautiful place with a lovely bar and seating area. The function room is impressive and was very well presented.
Food was Cavalry style served by the Chefs. A wide choice was offered and was well presented and full of flavour my favourite was the Chinese Salmon.
Ideal if you are looking for a quiet night out or to arrange a function with friends.
