Value
Heidelberg’s ideal location on the N3 highway between Johannesburg and Durban, only 50km from Johannesburg, 40km from the Johannesburg international airport, 50km from the Vaal river and makes it readily accessible to and indeed part of, the entire Gauteng, the heart land of South Africa. The town has excellent medical facilities, caters for all religious denominations, has 5 shopping centres and boasts an exceptional range of sporting and recreational facilities. Heidelberg sits nestled at the eastern end of the Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve, a large tract of land that is home to Gautang’s highest point, almost 2000 meters above sea level. Heidelberg developed as a typical rural Victorian town. Any buildings dating back to the period between 1890 and 1910 have been preserved. In addition, Heidelberg was home to G Visser a well loved medical doctor and famous Afrikaans poet. His home only open to the public by appoint, can still be seen situated close to the main road through town and our neighbours!

We had a very pleasant two night stay at the above guest house. It was very clean and the service from the receptionist / manageress was excellent. The initial booking process was very smooth and efficient, but I did have to follow up a few times for confirmation of the second nights stay which I booked after the first booking had been confirmed. However, it was sorted out. One of the rooms required minor maintenance, which was seen to as soon as we reported it. It was overall, a good stay. thank you.

Reserve 3 rooms . Reques confirmation and only find one room booked. At stage of query before payment there was only 1 room available. Was referred to other geust houses at much higher prices. so i suggest to sleep as extra person in a dubbel bed room which was eventually granted and an extra bed was put in the room.

Disruptive Caretaker!!
We were woken up before 7am by the caretaker having a loud conversation with his girlfriend and a friend. They were in the room next door and the friend was in the corridor with the door half open. His voice echoed through the entire place and woke everyone up. When I went to ask them to keep it down, there was no apology, they simply closed the door and kept going with the laughing and loud conversations. It went on for an hour! So rude and don’t care about the guests. Won’t ever come back here
…also the door handle isn’t secured and the bathroom light doesn’t work. The price changed from what the lady said on the phone to what the caretaker charged us ok arrival. Not worth the money.

DSTV was not connected.
Bath room needs a revamp.
Breakfast was tasteless, the crockery was chipped.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
The room was clean but the ceiling fan was noisy and could not be used.
Overall it was a place to sleep but nothing more.

We spent 1 night in the family room with 2 kids. It's a nice place in a very good location for a stopover. The staff was very helpful and welcoming, she made us feel at home. The beds were nice and comfy.

Room was dirty, previous guests leftovers left in fridge, rat traps under the bed. The staff asked us to pay when we had already paid online, and then didn't ask to see proof of payment. Very disorganized. Situated close to the centre of town so not a very safe area.

We stayed here for one night on our way to Durban. The welcome was frosty, staff do not speak English well and have to ask the owner via phone for everything. The rooms are clean, but very small, the narrow queen bed is not comfortable for two adults. The pool is smaller that it seems on the photos, it’s a bigger bathtub. But the garden offers several nice places to sit. Parking away from the street was good. Breakfast was ok, but staff in general seems to be disturbed by guests, they are not interested to provide a good service. Very positive was the young technician, he came to the lodge to solve problems with our car, we was really interested to help and find a solution, that’s what we will keep in mind from this lodge. There are several restaurants in the close vicinity, Heidelberg Club was really good.
