Many thanks to Helen and Judith for making my mother and me feel so very welcome when we visited last week - we felt like we were staying with old friends! These 2 ladies really understand hospitality and what their guests want, nothing was too much trouble for them but not in a fussy way. Unable to write anything which hasn't already been said about their breakfasts - *****excellence. We will return.

When we arrived at this beautiful guest house we were greeted with a great big hug off Helen and Judith, the two brilliant ladies who run this guest house brilliantly.we stayed in the room with a four poster bed which was so comfortable I think I could have slept all day,the furnishings in this room and in fact the whole house is to a very high standard, the room was en suite which was brilliant we even had a patio which was so lovely because the weather was lovely so we were able to sit on the patio and enjoy the sunshine. The next morning when we went down for breakfast we were treated like royalty, and the breakfast was fantastic,my husband had the full cooked breakfast which was so well presented,I opted for bacon and egg,the bacon was superb,we also had unlimited tea, coffee and toast.Helen and Judith were so knowledgable about the area and things going on,we were also told about the history about the guest house which we found very interesting. When the time came to say goodbye we were again given great big hugs,we were made to feel like friends rather than strangers,we are going to a wedding in September in the area so we have already booked our room,we both can't wait to meet these two lovely and friendly ladies again !!

The house itself is gorgeous, with interesting rooms filled with various artworks and objects, so much that you want to just wander and soak it all in. It has a definite unique flavour that is equalled only by the friendly and funny hosts that have their own wonderful style. Our twin room was lovely, with a really good, and pretty, ensuite bathroom. A bubble bath in the large tub was so welcome after long days of walking! The ladies even rung us up to see if we needed a lift at the pub later as it had started to sprinkle. Our breakfasts were superb the next morning and with the music, the so-cute dogs and the ladies, it was not just a meal but an experience that had I could, I would have lingered for hours to savour. To top it off they sent us off with hugs and great lunches. My sister and I felt so cared for here!

Its right across the road from the Wye Kerne Bridge portage point, chain your canoe here overnight, it will be safe. Friendly welcoming hosts, fantastic reception for a couple of wet and grubby canoeists. Lovely room overlooking the river. Dirty coat left to dry was washed and dried without a word being said. Best breakfast on the whole trip served in lovely surroundings. With a great pub just up the road it doesn't get much better than this. Stay here!

From our first arrival to leaving the welcome and attention we received was brilliant. Room was spotlessly clean and the breakfast was excellent. Location first class for Wye Valley or Forest of Dean walks

I have been staying at Lumley's for over 12 years now, sometimes with a few years gap in between visits, but the standard is unbelievably consistent. I cannot disagree with anything that has been said by the previous reviewer, in terms of the comfort, cleanliness, atmosphere and professionalism.
Lumleys has bags of personality; you really don't feel as though you are staying in a B&B. It's like staying with friends - just very professional ones.
Helen and Judith have a fantastic local knowledge and are always happy to help out with ideas for somewhere to go (not that you really need to ask in such a fantastic location!) or places to eat.
You really must try Lumleys!

On our 16 day LEJOG adventure, we were fortunate to stay in some lovely places but Lumleys stood out for all four of us - what a find!
Our hostesses are, at once, professional and yet the most warm and welcoming ladies you could hope to meet - going above and beyond the call of duty at every available opportunity.
Lumleys itself is a delightful blend of charm, elegance, whimsy and comfort - every room has a personality and the attention to detail keeps you fascinated in looking at the ornaments and other things in your room. Spotlessly clean and tidy, and so very comfortable - we wanted to move in forever!
The food was delicious, piping hot and plentiful with all tastes catered for - you can tell, with great care and, again, that attention to detail.
Fabulous grounds in a picturesque part of the country with plenty to see and do all around - the recommendation of dinner at a local hostelry was perfect too.
Lumleys sets a fabulous standard - other B&Bs should take note!
We all plan to re-visit and stay for longer - taking members of our families for a treat too.

We have just returned from our annual trip to the extremely attractive Wye valley with our fiends. This was probably our 10th consecutive visit to this fantastic B & B which is superbly run by Helen & Judith. Both are so friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Every year we have visited, the standard of the accommodation has been first class and the breakfast, all food sourced locally, is absolutely superb. We look forward to returning again in the near future.

Really fabulous B and B, stayed here the night with our 2 year old. Very accommodating and absolutely charming place. Beautifully decorated, clean, comfortable and nice touches throughout. Very friendly hosts and we will definitely be back if in the area. Delicious breakfast. Very handy for Ross on Wye, only 10 minutes up the road. Lovely part of the world.
