attention to detail is amazing.. welcome gifts of water bottles and beading, the service was respectful and prompt. The guide was evalyn whose knowledge of the area is exemplary and such fun to be with. The place itself is quiet and elegant in every way... a real luxury home from home i ant recommend it enough!
We had four nights at Encounter Mara over New Year. The camp is well run and the staff there were absolutely amazing. The game sightings were tremendous. We saw many lion sightings, cheetah and the elusive leopard. We were fortunate enough to witness two cheetah kills. One in very close proximity to the airport whilst we were waiting for our return flight.
This camp was very nicely tended, every detail was taken care of. Food was very good, couldn't eat everything that was offered. The tent was nice, the daily safari's were amazing. the sitting area was perfect. One day I said I hadn't had chocolate on the trip, next thing I know, they made me a chocolate dessert. Don't hesitate to ask for whatever you want. Lemme was very kind.
We stayed 3 nights in Encounter Mara and loved everything from arrival till checkout. The family tent we stayed in was huge but cozy. The food was very delicious. The staff was extremely friendly. The hotel helps arrange game drives and our guide was extremely knowledgeable. We got lucky and saw 25 lions on our drives! And on our last night, we saw a lion fight just 100 meters from our camp. The camp is hidden in the bush, almost impossible to find if you don’t know where it is. You truly feel like you’re camping in the middle of nowhere, except you have all the comfort of a luxurious hotel. Highly recommend!
My daughter and I just returned from Kenya a few days ago...our stay at Encounter Mara was the best part of our trip. The staff were beyond exemplary - the mpishi (cook), Simon, made sure to note all of our specific dietary needs, we hadn't eaten so much food that was so wonderful! Our wait staff (esp. Johnson & Julius) were wonderfully attentive and helpful. They were very patient with our attempts at learning Swahili, and we really enjoyed our conversations. Antony, the camp manager, made sure everything ran smoothly! Raphael, our guide, was top-notch - we saw every animal on our bucket list and his sharp eyes and vast knowledge made every game drive super educational. Lastly, the camp is 'fun'! It has great internet in the wi-fi tent and the main tent (which was so nice). Babboons frequently clamber by. The tents are super clean and the camp staff would turn down the blankets at night, provide hot water bottles in the beds if it would get cool, gave us Christmas gifts, and would fill our shower 'buckets' at night while singing. At night and in the mornings you would be lulled to sleep (or not) by the roars of lions, the laughs of hyenas and the songs of hundreds of birds. It was paradise!…
