We were on the first floor
Four poster room killed. It was really nice, very quiet, the question of a second pillow (these are thin and hard in my opinion) was done without any problems.
Friendly service - only an elderly lady blocked us twice when entering the hotel, although I already told her the first time that we are hotel guests. Somehow, I don't think she could remember that. I felt a little uncomfortable. However, the nice gentleman at the reception and the lady at the breakfast service have made this bet again.
Breakfast was served in the form of a buffet. Small, manageable, similar to home. Eggs were freshly prepared, coffee and other drinks were served at the table, the coffee was too strong for me personally, there was no milder version on demand, so I ended up with tea.
We were also at the restaurant one night for dinner - it was supposed to be my husband's birthday dinner and we were disappointed.
We were put in the bar without asking questions, where it was correspondingly loud. A nice conversation for two was not possible.
We shared the starter, three kinds of dumplings, yes was ok, nothing earth-shattering.
Then I had a schnitzel and my husband had the pepper steak.
This was “breaded” with coarse pepper and that was definitely too much of a good thing. There were also Curly Fries, who hardly felt that they had lost the heat. Same with my fries. Actually, a sign that the goods have been heated and cooled too often.
Since it was too loud for us, we wanted to pay quickly, with a card, but was not possible, as a large group was collected and even after that the lady in the service had to pour at the bar. Well, 20 minutes later, we were ready to go.
I didn't criticize it, as it actually seemed too inappropriate to say anything about the number of guests and the utilization of the service. I am aware that this is not ok, but the situation has not resulted.
By the way, I probably wouldn't have a direct comparison if we hadn't stopped the night before in a small, romantic inn with excellence cuisine a few steps down the road to the left. Unfortunately, the cuisine of the Terofal cannot keep up in comparison during our visit.
With the large number of guests, however, this may have been just a snapshot.
However, we will gladly stay here again.
Very good value for money. Located in the middle of Schliersee on the main street, outdoor seating at the front.
Reservations recommended. Despite it being full and raining, the staff tried very hard to give us a table. Very nice service.
The hotel owner is extremely friendly and accommodating. There was a parking space right in front of the hotel
Rooms are very comfy and spacious, with a great view from the balcony. The only disappointing thing was a half-broken shower, but i managed.
Oh yes, and weisswurst for breakfast - a comprehensive Bavarian experience!
I would highly recommend staying here. Great location, free bus pass to visit nearby villages. Thank you to all the team for making our stay with you so special!!
Menu was typical Bavarian fare but cooked to perfection. Simple food done well, pork roast with dumplings and roast beef with potatoes in onion gravy, both served with fresh garden salad. Staff were attentive, friendly and offered to explain the menu to us non-German soakers. Main dishes were so good we indulged in dessert and were not disappointed. Highly recommend this restaurant t
The hotel is rather old-world in stle and very cosy. The location near the lake is great.
We didn't have dinner in the hotel but the breakfast was good.
The staff was friendly and we had a very pleasant two-night stay during our week-long hiking trip in Bavaria.
Our room was at the front of the hotel on the third floor; and overlooked the Biergarten; although this area was being used as a Christmas Market. The room was quite large with a comfy double bed, a large pull out double sofa, coffee table and dining chair and a small occasional table. There was a large double wardrobe which had seen better days but was more than adequate for our needs. There was also an HD Flat Screen TV. It was clean, warm and comfortable.
The lady on reception when we arrived some 9 hrs later than expected due to aircraft delays was hardly receptive and quite aggressive. I had tried to phone earlier to say that we had been delayed but got nowhere as my spoken German is not as it use to be not having used it for some considerable time.
With little time to unpack we proceeded down to the restaurant where we found that a table had been reserved for us as requested in earlier correspondence. The restaurant consisted of several separate dining rooms running the width of the building culminating in a very long bar.
Our first morning we sampled the quite substantial German style breakfast of crusty bread rolls, cold meats and cheese and of course boiled eggs. There was also cereal and fruit available along with yoghurt, marmalade and pate. The coffee was made fresh and delivered to each table as required and the tea; if required, was a self brew made with the water boiling in a samovar. No complaints there.
Our family travelled from Switzerland to be with us over Christmas and we dined in the restaurant on both 23rd and 25th December with no problems. However, on 24th December we were surprised when the hotel closed the Bar and Restaurant at 12 noon without any warning. As we were dining elsewhere on Christmas Eve it wasn't really a problem for us however, on our return to the hotel at around 9pm that evening we found the place in total darkness and had to "let ourselves in" with the key provided with our room key. I have never known a hotel completely staffless anywhere else for whatever reason.
From 26th December is when the problems really started as there never seemed to be enough staff on duty to cope with the numbers in the restaurant. On several occasions we had to go an find someone to serve at the bar as the 'bar person' had gone off to take orders and deliver meals to the diners as well as producing their bills. This went on right through to our departure on 5th January.
On many occasions there was no-one in attendance in reception and I once found the 'bar person' actually dealing with a guest in reception instead of being behind the bar, it really was a nightmare at times trying to get served purely through the lack of staff.
We identified the owner early on during our visit and he made no attempt to interact with his guests, more concerned with providing for his mates in one of the dining rooms. On the one occasion he did attend us at a lunchtime he smelled of tobacco smoke so strongly that I had to leave and went elsewhere for lunch. Totally unacceptable.
There was only one issue of toiletries on our arrival and no tea or coffee facilities in the room. At Euro 130 per night I would have expected better than this.
This is a very popular venue for dining for the locals although the food is not especially better than anywhere else and there is not an extensive choice either. This being, it makes it very difficult for guests to park as if you arrive back after the restaurant has opened in the afternoon or evening then the chance of a parking space is minimal which led us to ensure we were back at the hotel early enough to be able to park near to the entrance. There are NO Disabled Spaces either.
Full marks to the young lady who was on reception on the evening of 4th January and again the morning of 5th January, she checked us out extremely efficiently was very cheerful and obliging and even arranged for someone to clear the snow from behind our car which a snow plough had piled up there. A lovely person.
This is not a place we would wish to return to.
This is the proverbial Bavarian guest house.
Everything fits together: the friendly girl getting us to the table and taking the orders in an authentic but stylish ambience; the comprehensive palette of choice (with a good list of specials); the full cellar; the joyful chatter of other delighted guests. (This time the modest dusting of snow even created a picture postcard.)
