#1 of 16 Speciality lodging in La Chapelle-D'Abondance
Chalet Cannelle is unassuming from the outside, but step through the door to be greeted by the magnificent mountain views from inside a 200 year old cowshed that has had a complete renewal. The spacious open plan living area boasting original features and exposed beams is perfectly matched with a comfortable and contemporary interior, uniquely designed and created, much of it by us. Our guests always tell us that they love the calm and quiet surroundings of the chalet. Chalet Cannelle is situated in a secluded and peaceful hamlet overlooking the Abondance valley, in between the alpine villages of Chatel & La Chapelle d'Abondance, both pretty villages with restaurants and activities and not far from the Switzerland border. It is a great location to enjoy two countries and the Portes du Soleil for all the outdoor mountain activities. Each bedroom is unique and has everything you would expect for a luxury stay; fine quality Egyptian cotton bed linen on super comfy beds, sumptuous towels, gorgeous toiletries & bathrobes. The bathrooms have a mix of walk-in showers and baths to suit everyone. Chalet Cannelle is a catered ski chalet in winter and B&B in the summer.

We had a fantastic stay at Chalet Cannelle. Lorraine and Andy were great hosts and we loved the little touches like the drinks fridge and snack hamper. They were always on hand to assist - for example they helped us find last minute snow shoe hire and provided a little BBQ so the kids could roast some marshmallows. We also absolutely loved the food, which was delicious. We really hope to return!

We had a fantastic week at Chalet Cannelle. The chalet itself is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and positioned with a stunning view over the valley. Andy and Lorraine are great hosts – they had really thought about the little things that made our stay enjoyable and relaxing and were always open to helping us with questions and plans. Andy’s cooking is fantastic, he takes a huge amount of care over sourcing good quality ingredients and makes everything from scratch. All of our meals were delicious and way above the standard usually provided in catered chalets. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be coming back.

We have just had a wonderful family summer holiday at Chalet Cannelle. Lorraine and Andy were extremely kind and welcoming hosts and helped us plan and tailor our holiday around the children. The food they prepared was truly delicious. The chalet is homely and sophisticated, and has a wondeful space for the children with stunning views. We will be returning soon!

We returned to Chalet Cannelle after four years only to find ourselves in a new, recently decorated room, with that fresh, mountain smell. If anything, Lorraine and Andy have refined their offering, with a more diverse but equally exquisite cuisine served on 5 out of 7 evenings. They are super-nice and helpful people, with lots to say but always in a discreet way. The idea of a shared table with other guests (we were 6 + kids in the chalet for the first four nights and than 10 + kids) worked perfectly well and gave us a chance to meet great people. Breakfast is hearty and gives enough energy for an active morning in the Alps, with a nice, cooked option each day. Shuttle service to the slopes made a big difference in a week with varied weather. Finally, the lounge is beautiful, spacious, with a fire-place and drinks. We made the most of it, reading and chatting all evenings around. It was really hard to leave...

We just returned from a wonderful family ski-holiday in Chatel! Andy and Lorraine are the most welcoming hosts and the food they prepared for us everyday was just simply delicious. We unanimously agreed Chalet Cannelle should be awarded at least 3 Michelin Stars.. The chalet is very spacious and breathes a wonderful and zen atmosphere. We would definitely stay again!
