For the second year in a row, we stayed 3 weeks at Le Aquarium. Excellent stay. The Management and all the staff are attentive to make the stay as pleasant as possible. Beautiful rooms, comfortable, quiet, with very good bedding. Large bathroom, well equipped. Excellent cuisine at the hotel restaurant. With fresh products. This is a strong point of the establishment.
We recommend this establishment, without reservation.

Great little hotel. Staff and location absolutely superb.
Food excellent, value for money really good.
Only real criticism is the room could've done with a bit more hoovering but this won't stop us from staying again.
Well done Le Verseau.

Very nice smile upon arriving, went to the room, nice quality of the small tv.
The matress has been killed for years already, my back is so painful now, the middle of it is like the summit of a volcano ! On top of that, it is partly covered with old Blood!!!?
Sorry but this is the Most important Item in a hôtel.
Le matelas est foutu depuis très longtemps déjà ! Plein de Sang et fait la cuvette au milieu!?

Stayed here for our first time skiing experience in France and loved it. Walkable distance to the cable car that takes you to Meribel Center. Honestly, this hotel has the best food. Really enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff and very nice owner, he gave us lots of good tips.

Great hotel with extremely pleasant and caring staff, who knew how to make us smile from start to finish.
The hotel is very well located although it is at the top of a climb which, over time, can become quite tiring.
Everything was done so that we could have the most pleasant stay and that is what happened. I recommend.

Booked with Ski Weekends who own this hotel and stayed for 2 nights. This was my 5th trip with ski-weekends and my third stay at this hotel. On my first trip I stayed on the first floor. Great room with an enormous balcony however, it was right above the bar and the smoke seeped through all evening. Not pleasant if you're a non-smoker. The noise and music also blared through so no sleep until the bar closed. Having learned my lesson, I now request a high floor. The room size is on the small side but all rooms have a very large bathroom. A bath is great if you have skied all day. The rooms are clean but the carpets could do with a deep clean. Our curtain linings were ripped and patched in several places. However, beds were comfortable and the bathroom was cleaned well. The breakfast is buffet style with fruit, yoghurt and french bread and croissants/pan au chocolat each day. Plenty of fruit juice and tea/coffee served by the British staff who run the hotel. Dinner there is a real treat. Good quality food and plenty of desserts. The ski shop is now in the lobby of the hotel and the service is quick and efficient. The hotel staff are all friendly and seen to really enjoy serving you. On the down side, there is a very steep climb up to the hotel from the street. It's only a 4/5 minute walk to the Olympe chair lift and the hotel does run a shuttle bus service. But if you miss the morning bus, and want to return before they start the evening run, you will have to be fit. Not great after a long, hard day on the slopes. That is the only down side. If you don't mind grubby and patched curtains, stained carpet but clean bedding, you'll be happy here. The staff and the food make up for these shortcomings. Be prepared for the hike from the street and you'll enjoy your stay.

We've just returned from a Weekend Ski Break which we booked with www.skiweekends.com. We had a great time, the slopes were great andbut had a few issues at the hotel (Hotel le Verseau), mainly concerning food and the restaurant.
Our expectataions were mostly met, I've stayed at Hotel Le Verseau twice before with Ski Weekends and my friends who came too for the first time this year had booked a 'Cheap Ski Weekend' so weren't expecting the Ritz! The room was comfortable and although a little dated, we like the authenticity of the hotel especially the bar and lounge.
A cooked breakfast isn't included but is available for a small fee. Similary at dinner time, there's the option to 'upgrade' to a Sirloin steak. During our stay, we 'upgraded' at breakfast and at dinner on a number of occassions, and everytime this was dissapointing. On the day of arrival, I ordered a Bacon Baugette. I was presented with a hard baguette with a few peices of cold, hard bacon. I put this down to it being later than usual (as we'd only just arrived and breakfast had nearly finished) and decided not to say anything.
The following morning most of group arrived for breakfast at about 08:10, one of my friends ordered some scrambled eggs as soon as he sat down. I came down for breakfast at 08:30 and he was still waiting. I ordered a Bacon Baguette again like the morning before, it look a little longer this time (15 mins) but again it came with overcooked bacon which this time was warm. My friend however who only ordered eggs, twenty minutes before me was still waiting. He had to repeat his order and after a further 20 mins of waiting decided just to leave. He'd waited nearly a whole hour, just for some eggs!
That night five out of six in our group decided to pay the supplement/upgrade fee for the steak. Not one of the steaks were served hot and at least three were overcooked (at least well done instead of medium rare!). When serverd, we asked if the steak came with a sauce to which the waiter replied "I'll get them to bring it out". 5 minutes later, we asked one of the other girls who were serving. She explained that the Chef had forgotten and that the sauce would be about ten minutes if we still wanted it. She apologised and walked away, she could have at least offered some ketchup or an alternative, it was also annoying that she knew there was an issue before we'd asked, but avoided mentioning it to us.
During that same meal, once we'd finished our steaks the couple sat on the table next to us were served their main courses. They finished their mains and recieved their deserts before our plates were even cleared, which makes us feel as though we were being avoided due to the issue with the steak and the sauce. To make matters worse, there was another party of 5 sat to our right who also ordered steaks, they recieved theirs just after us with sauce and steak knives! The waitresses returned to check on that party a number of times but seemed to completley ignore us.
We never paid the bill for the steaks nor did we think we should of had to, this was never questioned despite going to the bar and paying only for the drinks. Had their have been a member of staff who had asked, or even asked how our meal was we'd have been very willing to let them know! We also sat in the bar for the rest of the evening (with the restaurant ajoining) and saw the same staff at breakfast the following morning, never was the issue brought up. We feel that what was first a small issue was made greater by the staff's attempt to brush it under the carpet. It's put a real downer on our whole perception of Ski Weekends.
Aside from the food issue, only one of the five or six lights in our room worked (Room 28). This wouldn't have been an issue though had their have been a little more attention to detail.
Overall, the break was certainly good value and we probably would consider booking with Ski Weekends again.

I have never travelled with Ski Weekends before, but it was recommended to me by a friend, and i am glad i took their advice.
The Coach was spacious and comfortable with friendly coach drivers, Kevin and Adam.
On arrival at the hotel we were greeted by the Head Rep Holly, who then went on to sort me room ski and ski hire from the hotel. Breakfast was already set up with a selection of cereals and croissants. During the week there is a selection of cooked items as well.
The Rooms; They are basic rooms with on suit shower/bathroom, all with an outside area. The rooms were already made by the time i had eaten breakfast. Beds are made everyday by the hotel staff, but only hoovered at the beginning of your stay. Also i would advise, bring a spare towel and i stayed for a week and had to keep the same towel.
The Food; Breakfast is a substantial amount for a long days skiing with the option of taking away bacon/sausage rolls for the mountain. Lunch is provided at an extra cost of 8 euros, which consists of a baguette, crisps, fruit and a drink, but this has to be ordered the night before at dinner. Dinner was never the same each day!!! Food is basic and enough on the plate to fill you up. The only problem i have with the food is that some of it was cold on arrival to my table. The Resturant is also closed on a tuesday so we had to find elsewhere to eat. The Barman, Matt, recommended a pizzeria in town which was cheap and served amazing food.
The Staff; All the team that make up the Hotel Verseaus Staff are friendly and helpful and they are all willing to go the extra mile to make sure your stay is enjoyed. If you have any problems with your stay they try their best to sort it.
I have only one complaint about the staff, and that is when we were sat down to dinner on the Wednesday of our stay, we were witnessed to a older gentleman, who was sat eating and drinking on the table next to ours, stumble outside and urinate outside the restaurant in full view of other people eating. It then sounded like he got into a car and drove off. I am glad to say that not all the other staff behave in this manner and i hope it was a one off.
Entertainment; There was supposed to be live music on wednesday by an artist called Nick the fish, but we were later told that he had been double booked. There is a TV and pool table which can keep you amused for a good while, there is also music played through speakers during dinner and whilst at the bar chosen by Ollie.
The gondola, which takes about 25 minutes to get to meribel, is a 5/10 minute walk away from the hotel but the reps run shuttles in the morning and evening.
All in all a great stay at the Verseau hotel. I have already recommended it to my friends and colleagues.
Thanks to all the staff there Holly, Gary, Amy, Sam, Ollie, Gabby, Nic, Laura, Essie, Matt, Natalie and Danny.

This hotel is the club hotel for Skiweekends.com & provides a very good budget place to stay for a ski holiday. The organisation & transport etc is very slick & efficient. Despite arriving by coach after an overnight journey at 8.30 am, everyone is able to grab a quick breakfast, get into their room to dump their luggage, get into their ski gear, jump into the hotel's minibus & get onto the slopes without any delay. The staff then finish off preparing the rooms ready for everyone's return.
Food in the hotel restaurant is pretty good for a budget hotel, especially the buffet breakfast. They will also prepare packed lunches if wanted.
The hotel itself is looking a little 'tired' now & the grounds could do with a bit of TLC. I think also that the bathrooms could do with a 'deep clean' rather than the 'quick flick' that obviously happens. There is no room clean or change of sheets or towels during your stay (I was there 6 days) although I think you could get fresh towels from reception if you asked. The only attention to my room during my stay was bin emptying.
Beds were comfy & clean & sleep quality was good. The room was lovely & warm & had a radiator which was great for drying things. There were good views from the rooms. The TV's in the rooms had the advertised satellite reception but it was all in French. You couldn't even get CNN news in English. There was Sky on the big TV in the guest lounge area. WiFi reception was excellent throughout the whole hotel (& free).
On our final day we had to vacate our rooms by 8 am. This was quite fair as it meant the incoming early arrivals would be able to do what we had done & get into their rooms on arrival. Our luggage was stored in the lounge area for the day, while everyone headed for their last day on the slopes. Adjacent to the lounge was a shower/toilet area with several showers available for the returning skiers. We were only a small group of about 20 so there was no problem getting through the showers. I think it might be a bit more difficult if the hotel was full (40 rooms so probably 80 guests).
Staff in the hotel were all very friendly, helpful & fun.
I think the hotel is advertised as a French 3 star hotel but I feel (as other reviewers do) that it maybe should be a 2 star.
All in all, I enjoyed my stay & would be happy to return & would recommend it to others (so long as you aren't expecting The Ritz)

Hi Linda, yes there should be a hairdryer in the ensuite bathrooms. If not then please ask one of the Skiweekends team who will be happy to help.
Hi Minnie009, sorry to hear you had a problem with the beds. So far the renovations have been to the ensuite bathrooms, as far as we are aware the beds are the same. Best wishes, Ski Weekends.

"all rooms seemed to be the save size however if you can get the 3-4 th floor with a garden/mountian view its the best i would say rooms was also always being warm so dont worry your socks off it be a great holiday like mine was however the coach was a bit of a bummer though !"Read full review
