One night €156 Breakfast included. We spent the following 2 nights, during the week of course but like at the Athena, at the Mercure 4 * at €119 continental breakfast included with a luxury room, very good bedding, large double sink bathroom, view of the mountains and the elegance of the welcome and comfort of a palace which needs to do work on the outdoor swimming pool and the spa, but all the same, not comparable!!

It is easy to get to the hotel in Brides-les-Bains, in the winter I recommend snow tires and a four wheel drive though, as you need to get up and down steep, narrow roads. Free parking is provided.

The reception is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are ok, clean and well heated, perfect for a ski holiday.

We loved the restaurant. I can definitely recommend the daily menus, as they are the reasonably priced and offer the freshest and best quality. You always get the wonderful cheese selection with it! From the a la carte menu we tried a salad (very good), a tarte tatin (can recommend!) and a sirloin steak (slightly disappointing, especially the meat quality). The waiter (the young man) is super quick, professional and seems so effortless ("No problème, Madame"). The waitress seems to help out when he has his free days, but she does a good job as well.

The area is suitable for a rather quiet ski holiday, if you like a more exciting apres ski programme, there are other more suitable places. Dining is a lot cheaper in Brides than in the ski area itself. Getting to the cable car towards Meribel is easy and practical. For ski rental and accessories I can recommend Skiset, the first ski shop when you walk into the city.

Have just come home from Brides les Bains the Hotel Athena...The hotel itself is very nice and clean, lovely 4 course dinner every evening and a buffet breakfast. Very very quiet. It is about 15 min walk to the gondola but they have a courtesy minibus that will take you there between about 8.30and9.30and pick you up between 5.00and6.00. They also gave us a key for a locker under the gondola so we never had to lug all our stuff back and forth, therefore leaving time to go to the pub...teehee. Not a lot to do on an evening but we nipped to the local spar to get some beer and wine and had it in our room after enjoying a nice bottle of wine at dinner. I would recommend this if you want to ski ski ski and not want the nightlife..We thought it was nice although the 20 min gondola ride does get annoying after a few days as the lift stops at 5.30 so you will have to find another way of getting down if you miss it. We bought an area lift pass but felt there was no need there is so much skiing to do in meribel all we needed was a local pass.. Great holiday really for the oldies like us hahahaha

This Hotel was the worst experience that I had the last 40 years in traveling!
The people from the management don‘t care what ever problem comes up. I stayed for 12 nights — and from the 1st to the last day the heating in the bathroom did NOT work! I complained to reception every day: „The technician will come tomorrow.“ was the answere in a very unfriendly way. It was never repaiered! After 1 week they even took the 4 german TV Stations out of their TV Program!
For Breakfast they offered hard/old baquettes. If something of the buffet was out - they didn‘t care of refill! On some mornings they took croissant from the disconter out of the cellophane and threw them in the basket! Or when bread was out they brouhgt it in their hands! The tables stayed dirty for the whole breakfast time!
On the website of the hotel is a restaurant - but they sent the chef on holiday and wanted us to confirm a daily menue with 1 soup, 1 main course and 1 dessert.

A scam hotel. Chef left for several months. Dietary label removed for 2023. During my 3-week stay, several chefs and several directors followed one another, all of them lousy. We were sent to dinner or lunch in town on many occasions. Upon my arrival, an attempt was made to make me pay for the entire stay with a 40% increase compared to the same stay a year earlier. It was necessary to hold resident meetings to obtain reductions given the services unworthy of a 3 star. Almost nothing on the plates, black water in my bathtub (video available on request), arrogance of certain staff, spa still broken, library (?) and billiards in the basement from another age, no real maintenance, etc...
Absolutely avoid!

Run away, the food is disgusting. We took this hotel based on the photos of the chef where we thought we would enjoy our stay, but the chef had left following a change of ownership. As a starter a small carrot after the dishes were not more hearty and to finish the dessert 3 half apricots. It is certain that by not eating almost we were going to lose weight. The same problem in the kitchen every day. We never smelled the good smell of cooking in the restaurant room. The omelettes in the morning were weird, I think they were ready-made containers of liquid eggs. In short, move on and go elsewhere.

To flee! False ad: it’s not a 3*! The regional staff are charming but are not enough to compensate for the fact that the hotel needs to be renovated. Pestilential odors at level 0 every day. The kitchen has lost the Dietetic Label and we fall into an improved canteen range.
Hotel. Restaurant nothing matches what is advertised

Just returned from three and a half fantastic days skiing in the Three Vallies. What made the trip even better was the great little hotel Athena and the friendly manager Gautier. Nothing was to much bother for our group of ten with him even lending his ski gear to one who lost his case in transit flying into Lyon.
Our rooms were of adaquate size for a ski hotel, very clean with views (and sound) of the river which runs through Brides-les-Baines.
The small sauna & steam room in the basement were perfect at the end of the day to rest tired legs. It really was great value for money however most of all it was so nice not to be recognised.

Visited in Jan 2014 for a four night stay with a group of eight. Four years running with groups ranging from two to twelve. This year nothing has changed which is exactly what we wanted as the value, cleanliness and service is excellent. The mini spa in the basement is excellent at the end of a days skiing. Great location with a short walk to the lift, pub, restaurant and casino. Oh yes, the sleepy old town of BLB has we are told the sixth best ski resort casino in Europe. Great place to stay!

We stayed here for a week's skiing in february. We had a family room which was more like a mini suite, with a hallway, main double bedroom, bathroom and a second bedroom with bunkneds. This works brilliantly when staying with children, which we were. The room was comfortable and had a balcony. We were on the second floor and it was very quiet. Everyone at the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and plentiful, a choice of two starters and mains most nights and fabulous desserts! The hotel was a great place to come back to after a day's skiing and it works really well using the free shuttle bus to the olympic bubble/cablecar up to Meribel. The spa/sauna was lovely, great to relax tired legs! We would thoroughly recommend Hotel Athena.
