I've never stayed at such a poor hotel. I'm not actually sure if I can call it a hotel... On arrival - the lady behind the desk was rude (in French and English), I was in room7, the floor was dirty and the curtains were filthy. To add, there was no hot water in the early morning (left it running just in case for 10minutes!). The hotel wifi won't stretch to this room. There is no lift, with 4 floors of staircases. I didn't bother with breakfast. Apparently some of the higher numbered rooms are slightly newer. Please don't go to this place. It's unhealthy for your health and well being!
Never seen such a blatant discrepancy between assigned rating and the true situation. No elevator in 4-floor building, no night porter, no restaurant – lack of all the ordinary amenities we had in truly 3* establishments in Angers, Rennes, Saint-Nasaire, Vannes and Quimper during the same trip – all cheaper than this awful place! An attractive “salon” instead of lobby we’ve seen only in their booklet and through the closed door: the receptionist leaves early in the evening and locks it... Our room looked frustratingly basic, bathroom equipment - cheapest that you can imagine; only one bath towel for two of us. The hotel is good placed: on the main street in the very center of Lorient. On the reverse side of the coin we had the incessant noise from the window, in addition to hubbub from the corridor and adjacent rooms. This is an unfortunate situation: the window should be open due to lack of air conditioning. All in all to say the hotel is average would be an understatement, expensive for what it is and with many choices nearby (like Vannes, 55 km), should be avoided at all costs.…
The accommodation is clean, comfortable and good value. It is well located, being close to some good restaurants and the railway station. The buffet breakfast (9 euros) had a good choice of breads, fruit, yoghurts and compotes and was also reasonable value. I had a warm welcome and the concierge was very helpful in suggesting local restaurants and booking a taxi for me. I can happily recommend this hotel as a short stay location.
Veronique the owner has been so helpfully, kind and careful It was like staying at home. Couldn't do enough for us and breakfast was just delicious. Thanks again for everything, it has been a pleasure staying at your place. We will be back!
This hotel is very close to the train station, and within a short, 15-min walk to everything in town, from supermarkets and bistros to the marina & the ferry terminal. It's on a main street, but is quiet at night. The concierge was very helpful--she provided us with maps, recommendations for restaurants, and even gave us breakfast to-go for the train ride on the morning we left! We had dinner at the L'Eveil des Sens on our first night, one of the business cards we picked up at the hotel. It was absolutely amazing--the food was one of the best meals I've ever had, and the couple who runs the place were fantastic. So friendly and patient, as we tried to order in 'franglais' :) Such a wonderful night--really looking forward to coming back!
