Palace Hotel Vieste is in the town centre of Vieste, an administrative centre in the Gargano. Historians identify the town with the ancient Apeneste where the ruins of Merinum, another renown centre of the Dauni, are visible along the road to the Sanctuary of Saint Mary of Merino. The hotel stands out for its Liberty style testifying to its history. Indeed, the building dates back to the 15th c. and used to be the home of local noble families. It has recently been refurbished and turned into an exclusive hotel.

Old style, classic hotel. They’re probably saving light on low season, since the lobby was almost dark. I think we were the only guests. They have a nice restaurant, but it was closed. The room was spacious; the drapped bed and curtains gave a romantic touch. The TV is small, so we had to lean over to read the subtitles. The hotel has its own garage in the basement.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights as part of a Riviera tour of Puglia. It is a smallish, family-run hotel centrally situated in Vieste, close to the marina and beach and only a short climb to the old town and cathedral area. The hotel is somewhat dated in its appearance and amenities. Our twin bedded room was comfortable enough but on the small side and with no scenic view from the window ( which looked directly onto the balcony of a flat opposite across the narrow side lane, meaning for privacy reasons we could not really open the old net curtain). The air conditioning was difficult to regulate. The walk-in shower was good. Unlike the modern hotels, we stayed in Lecce and Matera, this one did not have tea/coffee-making facilities in the room which is a negative for us. We were not impressed with the meals we had in the hotel. The breakfasts had some variety but the cooked dishes were limited to fried eggs. There were some cold meats, pastries, fruit, and (plenty of) cakes. The coffee from the machine was not good. The dinners were for the most part also disappointing. On the plus side, we found that the staff, both in reception and the dining room, were efficient, friendly and helpful. In particular, they helped a great deal, when our Wizzair flight home was canceled (at 3.30 am) on the morning we were meant to depart Riviera managed to get us an extra night in the hotel and a flight back the next day on BA which reduced our inconvenience considerably as there were no hotel rooms available nearer the airport in Bari. The best thing about this hotel is the location, just a short walk to plenty of bars, restaurants, shops, markets, tourist sites, and the sea. If I was an independent traveler I would look for another town centre alternative.

The Palace Hotel is in a perfect location but is not a good hotel. Everything about it reflects that nobody cares if it is run well. The room needed painting. No one answered the desk phone when we called. The staff, when we were downstairs, couldn't bother themselves to make any recommendation for dinner.

I wanted to thank the staff who graciously helped me recover personal items I left in the hotel. We enjoyed our stay in the quiet, well-kept room. The hotel's location cannot be beat for coming and going around the charming historic center and port area of Vieste. There are good restaurants and gelaterie right outside the front door, and it's no more than a 8-10 minute walk to the top of the town overlooking the Adriatic. For great pastries and coffee if you want breakfast the way the Italians take it, go to Pasticcieria Matteosky down by the water.

This hotel is perfectly located for a visit to Vieste, situated within easy walking distance to the harbor area and the older portion of the city. The cathedral is also nearby, though a bit of an uphill hike. Our room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast had a more limited selection, but was certainly more than adequate. We were there during a local festival, which was fun to watch, though quite a few of the stores and restaurants were closed during our visit.

The setting of the hotel is at 2 minutes walking distance of the city center and the harbour. Convenient is also the private underground parking. Friendly staff and excellent breakfast with very wide choice served at thetable. We booked a junior suit but it's actually a midsize room with a small balcony.

We stayed here as part of a GRJ tour of Puglia and Basilicata. Our room was on the small side compared with other rooms on the trip but was perfectly adequate for the time we spent here We may have wanted a larger room for a longer stay. Staff were very helpful and friendly.I am amazed at the adverse comment from John F about the food. At no time did the food look like a supermarket ready meal and our fish which I think was sea bass was perfectly grilled. The only point was that it was served whole with head on which did not bother us but disturbed one or two. Breakfast was varied with both hot and cold dishes, including waffles. Caked and pastries were fresh and replenished when necessary.Coffee was good and there was a selection of styles available from the self service machine. Fruit was varied and in good condition. We did not have to hand in our passports so I fail to understand the comment about the photograph. Has John F confused this hotel with another? We enjoyed our stay at this well located hotel.

Stayed at this lovely hotel last week for three nights whilst on a tour of Puglia. A traditional Italian hotel elegant , lovely staff and central to the town of Vieste , near to restaurants , bars and sea front. We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and would like to thank everyone at the hotel for their kindness in making our anniversary so memorable . Grazie mille .

We were traveling in an organised group and were supposed to have two evening meals here. On the first evening the pasta dish looked suspiciously like a supermarket ready-meal. The fish course not fresh, most people sent it back uneaten. The breakfast consists of cakes and bruised fruit. I was rudely told to move tables because I sat in the wrong place! Their attitude to personal data isn’t good, I photographed an unstaffed reception desk with passports and ID cards within easy reach. The room was clean and comfortable.
