Very nice and clean rooms with view of the sea. The owners are very friendly and will accommodate you with any requests. The breakfast was very nice. We were very close to the beach. It was easy to get around by car. The highway was easy to get to. All the rooms are renovated to a modern look. The bathrooms were spacious and comfortable.

Superb clean hotel. Rooms immaculate with a great view of the sea. We requested sandwiches in our room as we arrived late and they didn't let us down. Very friendly helpful staff. Thoroughly recommend.

If you want to pass an excellent days and nights for your vacation go to caravel hotel in vasto. You will be most pleased from the behaviour of the staff and from the owner of the hotel who are very interested and devoted to their work in order to offer all the facilities to the customers so to have a pleasant time. There is an extraordinary cleaning of the rooms and the hotel , you enjoy all the meals and beside this the special meal on sundays. It's got a large sandy beach with own ombrellas and seabeds.

We recently stayed at the Caravel hotel whist travelling through Abruzzo (April) ; we were looking for a coastal location around Percara and Vasto appeared the nearest town with a sandy beach. It was still low season and few hotels were open. On checking out a few we opted for the Caravel beacuse of the very helpful staff and they remained helpful through out our stay. I should add that that there were no more than 3 or 4 other rooms being occupied because the hotel wasn't fully open; I guess they were getting ready for the summer season. We paid 50 euros for a front room had a balcony with slight sea view, though the hotel is one road back from the sea. The room was comfortable with on-suite facilities; it was clean and had all the basics. The cost included breakfast which was basic but ceratinly adequate. The room being at the front could probably be noisy in high season with traffic but wasn't particularly at this time. The hotel is 3 star and we would certainly stay there again as it was value for money. We would add that Vasto is not the place we'd want to stay for more than a few days. Vasto does a have a very long sandy beach and a few pleasant restaurants. In fairness, Vasto does have its older part of town, high above the beach front which we didn't fully explore dut to time and our moving onto the Abruzzo National Park

We needed a hotel for one night in Vasto as a stopover before driving to Sorrento from the Adriatic coast. TripAdvisor had few listings for Vasto and even fewer in English. The Caravel seemed to be OK and they had a decent website, so I booked. On arrival, the Caravel seemed to be reasonably well kept and it was clean. But it was very basic, e.g., didn’t even include a hair dryer, and it still had a toilet “down the hall“ presumably for rooms that didn’t have private facilities. But the biggest issue was noise: street noise until about 1:00am and noise from adjacent rooms (you cold hear TV’s, conversation, snoring, walking, etc.). There is no AC and we had to close the windows and roll-down shutters to abate the street noise, so the room was very stuffy and hot. I can’t imagine what the hotel must be like in the summer. Breakfast was minimal fare even by Euro standards. The staff were friendly, spoke some English and I think were competent. I‘m not sure what the story is with Vasto Marina, but the area appears to be a rather failed resort area possibly from the 1970’s to 1980’s. Many of the hotels appeared to be run down, as does the beachfront. However, there were some decent restaurants specializing in fresh local fish. I can’t recommend Vasto generally and would definitely not recommend the Caravel.

Response from Histonium, Proprietario at Hotel Caravel
Responded 28 Jun 2010
Thank you for coming to stay in Vasto at the Hotel Caravel. However I do not agree with what you say about the hotel and especially about Vasto. The Hotel Caravel is officially classified as a 3 Star hotel. It has 18 rooms, each with perfectly working air conditioning, private bathroom and balcony, so you can imagine how comfortable it has got to be even in summer. Each room is supplied with a hair dryer which is kept in the drawer of the writing table, along with the remote for the AC. I'm sorry for you if you couldn't find them. Down the passage there is no bathroom for the guests whose rooms are already provided with a bathroom, but there is a facility room for the house staff who are responsible for keeping the hotel clean and I marvel at how this room attracted your attention by night. Our breakfast is the typical Italian breakfast based on cookies and fresh produce, in fact on the buffet we serve:5 types of fruit yoghourt and 2 of natural yoghourt, 2 types of tart and fresh croissants, 3 types of cereals, fresh milk, 2 types of fruit juice, 6 types of jam, butter, rusks, fresh bread, biscuits and cereal biscuits, expresso coffee, cappuccino, tea, hot chocolate and milk. Vasto, contrary to what you say, is a modern well known holiday resort, well set up for tourists who come from all over Europe and who are awe struck by the beauty of the places around here. The hotels are all rennovated and well kept, the promenade by the beach was rebuilt just 2 years ago. To end off, I just wish to say that I am quite amazed how after just one night in Vasto, in the off season besides, you were only able to see negative aspects, leaving you with little or no enthusiasm to recommend Vasto or the Hotel Caravel. Kind regards,

We have had a very nice stay on Hotel Caravel. The hotel has a very good standard and the meals in the resturang was very good. Its a very short walk to the nice beach. For us with our daughter 2,5 years old (all meals free for her) this was a perfect stay. The only thing ewich we missed was a pool, but you cant get everthing for this good price!
