In the heart of the Amalfi Coast ( half way between Amalfi and Positano) the Hotel Torre Saracena is situated in a strategic position in the green landscape of the beautiful coast and directly on the sea. The family management offers a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The private descent to the sea, the gardens in the shade of lemon and olive trees gives relax and romantic atmosphere. Stayed here for 5 nights as our base whilst on the Amalfi Coast. We arrived around 9am on the bus and the hotel staff kindly let us drop our bags off and have breakfast before check in. The bus stop right outside the hotel is very convenient. Found the hotel quite old fashioned but clean and tidy. We booked a family room with a sea view. The room was spacious with a double and single bed. Lovely balcony with an amazing sea view. The breakfast buffet was lovely with a large selection of food and the view from the breakfast area was my favourite thing about this hotel, beautiful 🤩 Staff were polite and helpful. They also booked our transfer from the hotel back to Naples (€150) There is a shop next door to buy drinks and snacks and restaurants within walking distance. Marina di Praia beach is only a 10 minute walk away. There is also a bathing area and access to the sea in the hotel grounds. Would definitely recommend staying here!

I could write a novel about my experience here, but in order to keep things short, here's two lists.
THE POSITIVES:
*The staff. They're all lovely!
*The view. It's great.
*The breakfasts. One of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever had. So many wonderful pasties.
*The nearby beach. Pebbly and crowded, but worth a visit.
THE NEGATIVES:
*The location. The 25 minute walk to town is not an easy one.
*The decor. The rooms are pretty small and drab, but the attached outdoor areas are great.
*The beds and pillows. Hopefully you like very firm ones.
*Potentially, other guests. I guess if you book a relatively cheap 3 Star hotel, there's the chance that people you wouldn't choose to associate with will do the same. That's what happened to us. On our first night some people (an Irish father and son and the son's Australian girlfriend) were in the Jacuzzi at midnight, swearing loudly. When I asked them to please stop swearing, the son went to punch me and he and his girlfriend used really foul language. The father then stood near our room talking about his son's plans to "murd*r" me until 1.30am the next morning, until another guest finally persuaded him to shut up. We tried to find alternate accommodation after this with no success. The hotel staff did what they could, and started putting a cover on the Jacuzzi at 8pm each night to stop these people from repeating their appalling behaviour. Hopefully you'll never encounter these three charmers in your travels, but sadly they did spoil our stay at this hotel.

We stayed at the Hotel Torre Sarracena for 7 nights and we really enjoyed it. This hotel has the perfect location, between Positano and Amalfi, away from the crowd and right next to it there is a bus station. The terrace with the swimming pool was just perfect. The room with sea view was beautiful, cleaned everyday, nicely decorated, comfortable bed and the aircon is a big plus. The breakfast was amazing, great vegetarian options and delicious sfogliatella. The entire staff is extremely kind, very hardworking and helpful, they all speak english and they are very attentive. Big thank you to all of them for our beautiful stay. We really recommend this hotel!

How this hotel is reviewed as excellent is beyond me. How this hotel is three stars is beyond me. Reading reviews from 2014 it seems that the place has not changed whatsoever. We were shown to our room by Lorenzo who is a great member of staff and was informed that we had been upgraded to a family room. What that meant is that a Sofa bed was placed in the so called lounge that held the wardrobe and separate bedroom with a double bed that I have to admit was quite comfortable. The toilet / Shower room smelt of drains and during our stay was permanently wet with condensation despite opening windows thus leaving the towels damp at all times. At daytime we viewed the entrance to our room as a shed similar to the Pontins chalets in the 60's. I cannot blame the hotel for the rain most of the time but, when you wake up after a stormy night and have to place your bath towels on the floor in the lounge to soak the water up, when you have been awake most of the night listening to the drip of water from the broken guttering or the water running just outside the door from an open drain from the floor above, you understand water torture. It advertise a kettle, yes but you have to ask for it, and any cups and spoons required. If a family stayed here it would mean that the sofa bed would block any access to the wardrobe so good luck with that. We were surrounded by lemon trees so you would think that you might get a slice of lemon in gin & tonic, not in this hotel. The bus stop for both directions is handily outside, great you would think, when the third bus goes flying past after waiting 90 minutes because they are full you give up and find a bar. This stay was booked by Trailfinders, they really need to revisit this hotel before sending another poor soul to stay here. I was told that the hotel was named after the Saracens invasion, it's possible that it's had no work carried out on it since then.

Great service, friendly and very attentive.A clean environment with beautiful view.
A massive breakfast buffet with delicious food and special local dishes.
It’s a friendly family run business, everyone runs the extra mile to make sure their guests are happy.

Unfortunately it appears this hotel has not seen any maintenance for 20 years. Smelly rooms due to plumming issues. Toilet broken. Dangerous electrical wiring. Moldy airconditioning. Recreating area dirty. Hostile staff when we tried to cancel our stay. The sea view was nice though.

Unfortunately torre saracena turned out to be filthy towers. By far the least maintained hotel I ever stayed. Lounge area collapsed and overgrown with weeds. Lamps falling from the walls. Elecriical wiring looks dangerous. Needs a thurough renovation.

We come to Italy every year, and love to spend a few days relaxing on the Amalfi Coast. This hotel has nice rooms with comfortable beds and A/C, an awesome view, nice American-style breakfast, easy parking, crystal-clear water access, a hot tub, and various sunbathing areas. It sits on a cliff, right on the water, so you will have do a few steps even to get to your room, but definitively worth it. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

The experience of waking up to such a peaceful and beautiful view, having a nice breakfast upstairs, then walk two-hundred or so steps down to the water, jumping in and swimming to the grotta next door, then just relaxing by the water or sun tanning among beautiful lemon trees... this went down in my book. My only suggestion is that if you do plan to go swimming, bring with you a small air mattress since you cannot touch bottom when you jump in. If you are looking for a place to stay on the Costiera Amalfitana, off the busy touristy path, yet close enough to Positano and Amalfi... this is it. We will definitively be back!

I encountered several serious problems with this hotel and am very dissatisfied with my stay. First, I experienced a bait and switch. The photos on the website and on expedia are not indicative of the room I was given. The photos are lovely; the room I was assigned was small, dark, and smelled dank and musty. Only when I complained vociferously and decided to move was I given a room that resembled the online photos. The hotel itself is not charming. The hot tub was closed and the steps to the water were full of debris and litter.

Second, the hotel is on the very busy and very narrow Amalfi Coast highway, and walking anywhere felt like I was taking my life in my hands. The hotel is not in the center, but a 15-20 minute precarious walk away. If you don't have a car, this is not a convenient place to stay.

But most serious, after checking out, several fraudulent attempts were made on my American Express card. I had not used the card at any other place than the hotel, and am convinced the hotel was at fault for the attempted fraud. I have rarely been so disappointed by a hotel experience as I was with Hotel Torre Saraceno.

What are the transportation options from Naples and the cost? Thank you
Answer from Chucka63

We hired a car from Naples and left it in the hotel carparking for the week, as Public transport was cheap and safer for the Amalfi coast roads Bus stop #10 is out the front of the hotel, and going through Sorrento will connect you to Naples if you chose to use public transport to and from Naples There is also a local bus for I think for 2 Euro that last the whole day and takes in all stops around the Praiano area
