Il Rondò Bed & breakfast is located near the historical centre of Montepulciano, in the middle of olive groves and vineyeards which distinguishes the countryside of the Renaissance town. It is surrounded by a large garden which grants its guests quietness and fresh air, even if it is only at 500 mt from the walls of the town, easily reachable by a short walk. The hotel has also a private car park which is reserved to its guests.

We spent 10 days here in mid-May at the end of our 5 weeks in Italy. We had heard raving reviews about ll Rondo through a work acquaintance of our daughter’s, and we are so glad we took their advice! Nicolo, along with his parents (both of whom speak very little English) were some of the hardest working people we have ever seen! As has been mentioned by others, the gardens are phenomenal. My wife and I pride ourselves on our yard but they put us to shame. After serving breakfast, mom and dad were literally working outside all day and into the evening, and it shows. Be sure to allow some time to sit and relax in the garden with your itinerary and/or a glass of wine. We first stayed in the garden bedroom and then moved into one of the 2-bedroom suites when our daughter and fiance joined us, where we had our own living room. We can certainly say that all 3 bedrooms that we had access to over our time there were clean, roomy with plenty of storage, decorated beautifully, and very comfortable. The breakfast selection was by far the best of the 3 B&Bs we stayed at in Italy. The service was also wonderful! Nicolo’s suggestions on places to go were perfect, and he made our dinner reservations also. This is a very central location for driving throughout Tuscany and some of Umbria. Our first day going into the old town of Montepulciano we purchased bus tickets to the top and back. We never used the return ticket and never purchased any others. I am 72 and my wife is 65, and the walk up the hill was no problem. Making the leisurely walk up and down all the streets of the town is how we saw the many sights, many of which are not at the top anyway. We would definitely stay here again and recommend using it as a home base to explore Tuscany. If you only stay here 1 or 2 nights, you will wish you stayed longer!

We spent five nights here last month on our tour of Tuscany. We mainly booked here because of location and parking. Hotel was nice, our room was a good size with plenty of storage. Breakfast was more than enough to get the day started. Surrounded by well maintained gardens which was nice to sit out with a glass of wine after a busy days touring. The owners and their son were really nice and hospitable. Hotel is in a quiet location with a less than 10 minute walk to the walls of the Town (Helpful Hint) Take the five minute up to the bus station and buy a ticket for the mini bus up to the top of Montepulciano for €1.20 which we did most nights when going out for dinner. Would definitely recommend this hotel when staying in Montepulciano.

Very nice boutique B&B located just outside Montepulciano. Rooms are nicely appointed and quite. Family business and they are very friendly and service oriented. The family home is adjacent to the building housing rooms and the garden is beautiful! the walk to Montepulciano is a uphill for about 10 minutes but after a few times you get used to it. Besides Montepulciano itself is all uphill so its good training for the walking in the city.

My wife and I stepped into the hotel and the air was so full of BO that we turned around, lost the $130 we had paid for the room and left behind crowded, touristy Montepulciano for an agritourismo. The place struck me as not clean enough and it is down a long hill out of town so you must drive through narrow windy unpaved roads to get there. You have been warned.

I stayed in the two room suite on the second floor. It was so beautiful. We were able to sit on the balcony at night and view the stars. This was a family run business and the staff was so helpful. The breakfast was delicious too. The hotel was so close to Montepulciano. We were able to walk into town and back no problem. I will definitely rely be returning here.

We just spent a one night's stay at Albergo Il Rondo while travelling through Tuscany & Umbria. My first impression of the place when entering was how pristine clean it was. The second thing that jumped out was how pretty it was.
Upon arrival, after being offered a beverage by the owner, we enjoyed a beer and proseco in the lovely garden amid olive and fig trees and many pretty flowers.
We had a simple room that was beautifully furnished and decorated that shared a common sitting room with the room opposite to us. Tea was available in this room which was off a little balcony overlooking the garden.
The air conditioning in the room worked great, something that a lot of people seem to complain about when travelling through Italy.
The lovely breakfast served between 8 - 10am was just perfect as were the capuccinos! There were hard boiled eggs, cheeses, meats & yogurts to choose from as well as breads, cake and croissants, not to mention fruit and cereals.
To get to the town, we walked up the road to a building with an elevator that brought us to the upper Medieval town where we had a fantastic dinner at one of the three places that were recommended to us by the villa owner.
Although our experience at Albergo Il Rondo cannot compare in the least to the stays we had at two different castles during our vacation, all in all I was extremely impressed by how clean, beautifully decorated and well maintained the villa was and would recommend it to anyone who might be considering a stay in Montepulciano. We stumbled across the website for this boutique, seven room hotel in Montepulciano, Italy a few years ago. Since then, we have visited several times, referred countless people to visit and already planned three visits June/July 2015. The rooms are hospital clean, the location convenient and the breakfast out of this world. But the best part by far is the Banini family who own and run the hotel. Niccolo, Amerigo and Vanna have become our Italian family! They are so amazingly sweet and hospitable, you feel as though they are related. Niccolo is willing to do anything you request, from restaurant, winery and places to visit. In addition, he helped me arrange a surprise wedding vow renewal surprise for my wife and me in September 2013. His help and participation were invaluable for one of the most memorable and wonderful experiences of our lives. We cannot say enough about these wonderful people. Our trip this summer is with a couple who have never been to Italy, a group of 14 friends and a few days to ourselves. We cannot wait.

We stayed at Hotel Il Rondo after reading the positive reviews and planned to stay for four nights. It is a nice hotel without reception (this does not make a b&b in our opinion). Rooms are very clean and spacious and furnished with what a traveller would like to expect in a Tuscan house. Breakfast was good for Italian standards.
What really surprised us and led to our decision to leave after one night was the location and setting of the hotel. After looking at the website and reading the reviews we expected a nice and cosy house in a rural setting. The hotel is located in the modern outskirts of the pretty city, next to it is a sports field with floodlights, it's close to the bus terminal and tennis halls. This was not the setting we expected.
The hotel itself is nice and in 15 walking minutes along a road get you to the lovely town (10 minutes to the town wall).

We selected this hotel as it seemed easy to get to by car outside the walls, but within walking distance of the old town, and this proved to be the case. While it's a slight uphill walk to the park just outside the city walls, it's a lot less than what's required to properly explore Montepulciano on foot. The road to the hotel passes by non-residential properties that aren't particularly attractive, but this is of no great importance since the accommodation is within a garden setting that creates its own relaxing oasis.
We had a spacious downstairs room that included a walk-in wardrobe - rather nice to have our suitcases out of the way for a change. The room also had a sitting area shared with one other adjacent room. The rooms are personally and perhaps even eclectically decorated, but our room was comfortable and well-equipped.
On arrival, we were given a friendly and helpful greeting, breakfast was easy with good options, and checkout was straightforward. The hotel delivers particularly good value for money. We'd certainly recommend staying at Albergo Il Rondo.
