Detailed Reviews
Can be a little hard to find, especially in the dark, but well worth the effort. Absolutely gorgeous place to stay.(wish we had been there a month earlier to enjoy the swimming pool) About 10 minutes drive from Ponticino, which is where you will have to go to eat. Owner welcomes you enthusiastically, shows you your room and offers you the use of the refrigerator and a bottle of local wine. Very quiet, surrounded by the beauty of Tuscany. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was fabulous. Thanks for your hospitality. Highly reecommended.

Emanuele is the consumist host/owner, providing the right balance of attention and privacy. Located an hour's drive south of Firenze (Florence), Poggio del Drago is an oasis of luxury in the Tuscan countryside. Its an easy drive to multiple towns and villiages in Chianti, Montepulciano, etc. Bring a GPS, however. Overall, my wife and I would highly recommend Poggio del Drago to family and friends and would definitely stay there again. A great value!

Stayed here with my wife for 6 nights in June 2012 and we had an amazing time. The room we stayed in (Ophelia) was finished to a very high standard and had plenty of space with a nice large shower and comfortable bed. The A/C was amazing considering the 39C temperatures outside which most units would struggle with, but not here. We really enjoyed breakfast as the food was fantastic with a good selection that never ran out, no matter how hungry everyone was, and the fact it was one large communal breakfast table meant all of the guests would interact and discuss plans for the day and places visited the previous day sharing maps and advice.
Our biggest highlight and by far the best part of staying here was meeting Emanuele. His English is extremely limited, but I'm the one travelling in Italy so didn't see it as a problem, and we managed to understand everything we said to each other (especially when Italy beat England in the football!). All of his recommendations were fantastic including places to visit and restaurants to eat at that are not in the guidebooks. The type of host he is was summed up one day when we arrived back late in the afternoon and there were no sunbeds available as there were only 8, yet there were 10 guests staying. The next day he had set up an extra 4 beds so that there are now 12.
For us, the location was fantastic as it allowed us to explore the area in the morning and then return to the B&B early in the afternoon to cool off with a dip in the pool. One point to note is that it is in a remote location so you will need a car to get out and about, but we were using it as a base to explore Tuscany so it was perfect for us.
There is no doubt that we would recommend Poggio Del Drago to anyone planning a stay in Italy and we will definitely, definitely return.

The rooms look much better in pictures than in reality, which is deceiving. A very bad smell in the bathroom which was going to the room also. Poor cleaning, we found stains on the pillow and on the bed cover on the arrival day. The cleaning ladies were superficial and did not even have a vacuum cleaner. Noise due to breakfast room being right besides the guest rooms, we had to wake up every morning when the first guests served breakfast as you could easily hear them. Also check in/check out formalities were done there and you could hear all the conversations from your room. No heating available as the air conditioning was already turned on cooling mode -heating would have been possible only through air conditioning. Average breakfast.
The only good parts: the hotel was in a nice quiet countryside area and the owner was friendly and polite.

In our 17 days in Central Italy we stayed in eight B&Bs most of them Agriturismos. As most of them were of an incredibly high standard it is disappointing to say that this one did not live up to the same standard. Good points: stunningly beautiful and well kept grounds, air conditioning, easy parking, a swimming pool, free wifi, close to Arezzo, a delightful and charming host. Less good points: small room with almost no furniture not even a chair, uncomfortable bed, a very average and unimaginative breakfast, very little English spoken, wifi intermittent except in communal area, and on the one hot day when we wanted to swim the pool was occupied by the host's family and friends, i.e. young men kicking a football and pushing each other in, thus not welcoming to us. Whilst this was quite a good place to stay it is not in the same class as the other Agriturismos in which we stayed and was one of the most expensive.

Yes, I can definitely recommend this very clean, cozy and friendly place! We just stayed for one night on our way to the Mediterranian sea and were very very happy to find this B&B.
Great rooms! Great sleeping comfort an very quiet. This is a perfect place for a short visit in Arezzo,

Poggio Del Drago is a very beautiful property, developed from a restored farm house of typical Tuscan construction. Despite being quite close to the A1, it's peaceful and quiet, and we heard no traffic noise at all, apart from the one or two cars which come up and down the track. It is immaculate, extremely well decorated, and spotlessly clean.
Emanuele is a perfect host, and was very gracious with my imperfect Italian, as was the charming housekeeper, Rose. Nothing is too much trouble for either of these lovely people and they made us feel extremely welcome. There is coffee and tea always available for guests to help themselves, crockery, cutlery etc for your use, and a fridge shelf is reserved for each room. Any problems (like the plug which would not come up to empty the sink) are dealt with promptly and efficiently.
We stayed in Ophelia. The bed is extremely comfortable, and I also found the pillows fine - which for me is a big deal because I have a damaged neck and the wrong pillows give my a 'hungover' headache for the entire next day. The flyscreens are in first class condition (also important to one who is a banquet for all biting creatures for miles around) and there is a door which opens to the garden. The bathroom is small, but the shower is great: hot and with a good force, with a choice of hand or overhead shower spray.
Breakfast was perfect for us. Fruit juice, bread, jam, cold meats and cheese, biscuits, cereal, fruit and local cake, and a great variety of teas and coffees.
The one small niggle was that it would have been nice to have a little more storage in the room, there being no drawers for clothing. We managed very well though, since there was a spare bed to lay out suitcases on.
All in all, it was a tranquil, lovely, stress-free week of peace and quiet, while still being close enough to any number of gorgeous Tuscan towns. Arezzo, the closest large town, has a great deal of charm and we visited the old centre twice.
One piece of advice: there are two gates to this property. Use the second! It is much, much easier and smoother. You need to ignore the sign which says 'Poggio Del Drago' and points to a right turn from the track, and proceed upwards until you see a large metal gate on your right which (when we were there) is always open except at night. This gate is also for Poggio Del Drago!

If you are looking for a reprieve from all the beautiful but touristy hill towns of Tuscany then you will welcome the hospitality of Emanuele at Poggio del Drago. This little villa sits on top of a hillside overlooking the beautiful countryside outside Arezzo. The B & B is impeccably clean. Ikea chic, crisp llinens and lovely bathrooms. The air conditioning works wonderfully but you also have terrace doors and windows with screens if you opt for the sounds of the country. My husband, our adult daughter and myself shared a triple room for a week and enjoyed the peacefulness of the B & B each evening after exploring the many hill towns around Arezzo. The garden like setting and tables and chairs around the pool made relaxing with a bottle of wine and watching the sunset a perfect way to end the day. Thank you Emanuele, A Presto!

We stayed at this beautiful B&B for a whole week in August and didn't want to leave...Emanuele does a great Job and is a wonderful and relaxed host. The house and its decoration is georgous. So are the surroundings and the pool with great country view. The breakfast was lovely and breakfast times flexible (great coffee - unlimited!)The rooms are extremely clean and tidy - the woman who does the cleaning is fabulous! We also liked the relaxed and informal atmosphere. The B&B is ideally located and you can reach many well-known places within an hour drive.
Grazie mille, Emanuele - we will come back!

We had a great time in this lovely B&B.... Emmanuel hosted us with a big smile and a will to help in any question or problem.
The rooms are clean and nice and the dining room is also very warm a convenient -there are always fresh flowers on the table... from the garden, and a good coffee machine.
The area is amazing- we went for a hike in the hills next to the B&B- very recommended! and the most important thing that you can’t ignore is the big fat and cute cat that welcomes you when you get to Poggio del drago :)
