Msandile River Lodge was more than pleasant from start to end. The responsiveness of the booking office, the courtesy of the frontline staff, the neat and clean appealmof the accommodations and the expert sfari giode who took care of us are ut a few of the joys of being a guest here.

We were able to findnour way to the lodge easily with both text and pictorial guides.

The syaff are friendly without being overbearing and all seem genuinely happy to host you. The position of the camp ensures you're entertained by wildlife encounters both in camp and also in the gane park. Our guide Ropbert Phiri was especially hard working and put hos experience on display as he helped us find and view game mych to our hearts content. We were able to catch a leopard on a prowl and another ona fresh kill amongst many other sightings because of Robert's tracking skills.

Our chalets were well adorned without losing the "safari feel". Plenty hot and cold water was agreat joy at the end of each day and the rest of the of the premises were absolutely clean and neat.

The food was good and each meal was welcome. My partner and I are foodies and we tend to prefer a richer food experience than was on offer but we cannot say the food was bad by any measure.

We'd highly recommend a stay at Msandile, it's great value for money without being cheap. I'd say the experience is definitely much better than advertised and the staff arw ahuge part of that great experience.

Happy yo go back soon! 😁

We went with Kiboko to the Msandile River Lodge around the New Years period. This was the second time this year as we liked it very much.
Although we encountered very heavy rain and floodings their staff offered us all the services we needed to get to assure us a smooth way out of the flooded area and even offered us an alternative accommodation at an other lodge.
This was when the whole area was flooded in South Luangwa and lots of lodges were closed and evacuated their clients out.
Amazing work done by Kiboko as otherwise we would have been in big troube in the flooded area.
We still saw a lot of game and went on game drives.
Very professional as always.
I will be going on safari with them again despite the heavy rains and flooding this time as I believe this was beyond their control.
Desiree was a wonderful host and did everything to make our stay as pleasant as possible even when the area encountered the heavy rains.

We had a wonderful time at Msandile River Lodge. It is located along the river where elephants, giraffes and hippos cross beside your tent! Frank, Sabine, Helen and Mel are very friendly and gave us a warm welcome. The place is luxurious, beautiful and very clean. We stayed for five days at ensuite tents which we could recommend to everybody, they are spacious and very comfortable to stay. They serve high quality food which is fresh and delicious and diet preferences are no problem. We really enjoyed our time and only had to think about relaxing, what a treat for us! Isaac the guide is very experienced, knows a lot about the animals and has a great sense of humor which we really enjoyed. In between the gamedrives it was so relaxing to dive into the pool while enjoying the wonderful view of the animals crossing by the river. With the guards we felt safe all the time, they picked us up before breakfast and brought us to our tents after dinner. This place is very focused on the wellbeing of the guests, they think along and it is even luxurious in the details! Msandile Lodge is budget friendly, prices are very fair and you’ll get even more than that!
To everyone who has plans to visit South Luangwa: don’t look further and go to Msandile River Lodge!

A gorgeous Riverside lodge with fabulous staff and a comfortable chalet and relaxing space. The pool overlooks the river where we often saw elephants and hippos at the same time. Food is lovely but drinks are the most expensive we have seen them along our trip. Guide Isaac and George were fantastic and we loved the snacks and sundowners refreshments - a chance to stretch your legs mid game drive. The wildlife was incredible and we learned so much from our guides. They made a huge effort on our last night of our honeymoon with a BBQ by the river with lanterns to light the way. A very friendly and brave night guide collected us from and escorted us to our chalet when dark- sometimes having to herd some hippos out of the way. River crossing fee of $15 we found to be quite expensive in addition to the park fee!

My sister and I spent 3 days in this beautiful lodge! The team, the place, the food, the safaris everything was exceptional. We lived an unforgettable experience, they have so much attention to details, you feel very safe with the day and night guards securing our way while animals pass by the camp.

I originally had made reservations with another lodge and I happened to speak to another traveler the night before I traveled there who raved about her time there...just a few days before. I was to arrive on Christmas eve and I really wanted a special Christmas trip. Frank, the owner and I, m
essaged back and forth the hours before I arrives and I hoped that I was making the right decision canceling my reservations to go with a place I wasn't able to read reviews from the bus. Frank was patient with all my questions and arranged for their driver to pick me up. It turned out to far far exceed all questions and become my favorite stay in 6 months of Africa of travel!! The personal care of the owners Frank and Sabine, each one of the staff were over the top. The attention to detail for elegance in the bush were noted from the sheets..the soap, greeted with cool wet towels after each game drive...and the food! I got my yummy Christmas feast and then some!! The chef and Sabine planned many surprises for the feast! Isaac the game driver made sure we saw plenty of everything..hippos on the boat drive to and from the park twice a day, elephants galore, lions with cubs, giraffe, a leopard hyena different antelope and hes quite the bird spotter also. But the highlight was making sure I saw my favorite animal..the spotted dogs! 6 months and 3 weeks worth of game drives twice a day I had not seem the wild dogs one time on this trip to Africa. We saw them every day and once a kill happened running around our vehicle!. The main lodge is beautiful and spacious with very high ceilings and you fall asleep and wake up to the sound of hippos. I am dreaming of coming back with friends next Christmas. I didn't get enough.

We visited South Luangwe for the first time April 2024 and stayed at Msandile River Lodge. Our experience was delightful. We have 3 children until 10 and the camp was most accommodating to us. We all stayed in the family chalet and enjoyed the treasure of finding towels wrapped like animals, notes, and water. The food was catered for the children and they took into our account our preferences! While there we saw MANY hippos and enjoyed listening to their noises throughout the day and evening. The guide and drives were full of animal sitings- lions, leopard, hippos, elephants, gazelle, waterbuck, crocs, etc... and many, many beautiful birds. The lodge was lovely and we look forward to returning one day.

We stayed for 3 nights at Msandile just before Christmas and had a fatastic time.

The location is amazing, right by the river and in the middle of the bush, with elefants and hippos visiting the lodge literally every day.

The tents and chalets are quite nice and in a good condition I would say.

Staff and camp management were excellent from our perspective, so was the guide Isaac who is very friendly, patient and knowledgable. We've also had great sightings and awesome night drives thanks to Isaac.

The food and service in the lodge is really good, we enjoyed it very much. And not less important, we felt very much welcome as a family with our two young (and very lively) kids. The staff was playing football with our boys and the management even did some "baby sitting" one morning, so that me and my wife could go on a longer walking safari. Staff and management also reacted promptly to our requests and needs.

So all in all a beautiful stay in Msandile, we will definitely come back!

A great camp - our "room" was some distance from the main area and several times we had to stay in in order to avoid elephants wandering through - it wasn't a problem at all. The room was very spacious and well equipped The staff were excellent and the food was top drawer. We always ate outside with excellent waiting on. We had to cross the river in order to get to the jeeps which was very good and safe! On the game drives we had an excellent guide called Lungi who knew everything including where to find leopards and wild dogs in addition to all the usual lions, hyenas and elephants. There were impalas all over the place as well as birds and we stopped several times to listen to Lungi telling us the things that only a knowledgeable guide would know. All in all a very good stay.

Recently opened and owner run by lovely Frank and Sabine, this new camp is sure to a fast favourite. Its perfect location on what seems to be an animal highway is one of its best selling points. You see crossing of elephants and hippos at dawn and dusk and have so much game right in front of the lodge and camp on the river bed below it. I stayed in one of their Ensuite family chalets, and undoubtedly felt like I was one with nature with amplified sounds of the night drifting into the room from the open front of the chalet.
