Detailed Reviews
After booking last minute with Alpine Elements we were looking forward to a great week in the snow.
The team at the Hotel Montana are excellent and very helpful. They all are really friendly and are always on hand to give advice about ski routes and local restaurants and cafes.
As a vegetarian the food in France can sometimes be difficult but the restaurant team provided wonderful breakfasts, afternoon cakes and great diners which had a good variety.
We stayed in a superior room which is marketed as in a modern and contemporary style - the furniture does have a modern look but the room was a little tired and some of the renovations such as the new lights were very poorly fitted and finished. The room was a great size and did have plenty of storage. We had a balcony that looked out on to the slopes which was lovely.
The communal areas of the hotel are very nice and has a quirky feel with a good amount of places to sit and catch up on the days skiing.
The spa and pool are a nice extra and the 13 person jacuzzi was huge but we were disappointed to find this broken as soon as we arrived and was not fixed until 2 days before we left.
The location of the hotel in Courchevel La Tania is ideal for skiing the whole 3 valleys area. It truly is a ski in ski out with the boot room opening straight onto the slope with a 1 minute ski down to the main gondola. The boot room has separate lockers for each room with each locker having enough room for skis/boards and boots although the addition of boot driers would be good to help dry the boots each day ready for the next day’s skiing.
As a beginner I found lots of skiing in Courchevel 1850 and it is possible as a semi novice skier to ski into 1850, it is also just as easy to catch the free ski bus from outside the hotel right into 1850 centre.
All in all we would use Alpine Elements again and I am sure we will be back to the Hotel Montana soon.

My husband and I have just returned from a weeks stay at Hotel Montana in La Tania. Hotel and staff are so relaxed you feel welcome and chilled as soon as you arrive. The location is fantastic, ski in and ski out right by the bubble lift to the slopes.
Staff are so friendly and helpful.
The food was so delicious, excellent portions and hearty meals after a day on the slopes is exactly what is needed.
Rooms are spacious and very clean with great views to the mountains or to the slopes coming back into the La Tania village.
Only improvement I would suggest would be an improved layout for the boot room as this can get very busy and tight for space when the morning rush hour hits. Or even having some benches outside would help free some space when getting your ski boots on.
Would highly recommend and can’t wait to visit again. Beca and her team were superb.
Thank you all

The Montana is excellent value for money. Ski in ski out, snow permitting, and central to the 2 ski lifts and all amenities.
We went at half term which is obviously the busiest and most expensive time to go which should be kept in mind in regards to this review.
Positives: spotlessly clean, spacious rooms, nice young staff who are really helpful, positive and courteous, big bathrooms with endless hot water, loads of wardrobe space, friendly atmosphere, well run, decent food well presented.
Negatives: rooms and balconies bit dated/tired. Could do with a re-Dec, would be great if it had tea and coffee making facilities in rooms which is standard in most places.
We usually self cater and will continue to do that But can’t really fault the Montana and the Alpine Elements team at this price.

+1
We have been to Hotel Montana twice now, during the school half term.
Whilst considerably more expensive during the half term break, compared to other times in the year, we were still happy to return.
The hotel is comfortable and provides everything needed to keep you relaxed after your day on the slopes.
The hotel is set in the centre of La Tania, and is writhing a couple of minutes walk to the ski lift, and directly on the slope, so you can ski right back to the boot room door.
Personally I think the hotel could cosmetically have a spruce, but otherwise, it is a nice space.
All of the staff are welcoming and helpful, creating a nice atmosphere and always accommodating.
The hotel provides set seating times for evening meals, there is no choice on this, and you will be allocated your time when you arrive.
The food is good and well prepared, every meal was enjoyable, and there was always a choice from a couple of items for the next days meal when filling out the menu form each previous evening. The 3 course meal was always good, and always tasty.
You are allocated a locker in the boot room, which can be hectic first thing, but is manageable. The lockers are snug when attempting to fit snowboards in, but a bit of carful packing, and your in.
We are a family of 4, with a 9 & 12 year old.
There is a chill out area for the kids next to the pool/jacuzzi/steam room/sauna area, which is open from 3-7, so you can enjoy a soak whilst the kids are playing pool.
The hotel transfer bus stops outside the hotel, there is a hike up some stairs, or a lift, however the lift isn’t very big, so there is a queue when arriving or leaving, the stairs are quicker, but if your carrying all your own gear, a definite workout!
If you are hiring ski/snowboard equipment from the local ‘Skiset’, the hotel can arrange the booking of this when booking your package, which is very helpful. They will be very busy on arrival day, so be prepared to queue.
All of our ski passes were also arranged when booking and they will be given to you on your day of arrival.

Overall had a very good stay at Hotel Montana. Easy and friendly check in and check out service. Our room was not one of the recently refurbished rooms and was therefore a bit dated and therefore not representative of some of the images viewed on Alpine Elements website. However it was a decent size, quiet and clean which is important. I do think this room should be refurbished ahead of next season to provide a bit more comfort. The hotel had good facilities - really enjoyed the spa - hot tub out of service for one evening but was fixed quickly. Had to pay for the pool tables which i think is a bit of a shame since would have got a lot more use if free and i think guests paying enough to get this benefit. Hotel put on some evening activities - a quiz night and live music evening. Did not attend quiz but live music was good fun and good artist I thought the restaurant food was good, not excellent but for price paid it was very solid. Service was quick and friendly and there was lots of choice for the evening meal. Special mention to restaurant Manager James who seems to run a tight ship and is very friendly. All restaurant staff i came across were chatty and looked like they enjoyed being there which made it nice place to be. Breakfast was good with wide choice of cooked options. Only complaint is that the patries seemed to run out very fast and there rarely seemed any left for rest of service. Very good afternoon tea with excellent cakes and savouries daily. Staff were very good. Our ski passes were sorted quickly by the Ski rep (apologies i have forgotten his name).
In summary, really enjoyed our stay. Don't expect luxury but you will have a great stay at Hotel Montana.

We travelled to La Tania and Hotel Le Montana last March (2023) with a large group of adult friends and had a great time.
Easy access from the coach/bus stop; just a trip up the elevator and you're at the hotel's front doors. The 'welcome' meeting on arrival was very helpful and informative so you got your bearings straight away. The staff were friendly, accommodating and attentive. The rooms were uncluttered and clean with a kettle and piping hot showers. The bar was a great place to make friends or relax with a book.
We enjoyed the food and my plate was cleared every night. You had to choose your meal for the following evening at dinner so, in the unlikely event that you didn't fancy or couldn't eat any of the options, remember to ask as the staff offered us a simple alternative or there are other restaurants just a short stroll from the hotel front door if, for example, cheese is not your thing on Savoyard evening and you didn't fancy the alternatives. The entertainment and events were plenty and lively.
The locker room does smell like a locker room but it's as clean as it can be with folks traipsing in and out in ski boots and functional with boot dryers, locks and access straight onto the snow; I don't think that anyone intends to spend too much time in there.
The pool and sauna area had a great view from the large hot tub on a snow day but the hammam did tend to need repeat repairs but it was great when it was behaving.
I like the fact that we're not kicked out by cleaners and could do our bit for the environment by reusing our towels etc but you could ask for service if you needed it.
It has something for everyone in our group, young and old, and we're looking forward to our return this ski season.

Our second visit to this excellent hotel.
It has good sized modern rooms, with plenty of space to dry ski kit, and they have a truly fabulous shower!
The staff are friendly and helpful, the food is good, and there is a sauna, steam room, pool and hot tub for recuperating after hitting the slopes.
The location is absolutely perfect, being ski in - ski out for the awesome 3 Valleys ski area, while being right next to the restaurants and shops (including ski hire) of La Tania, a village which appeals to me as it has great food at affordable prices, and useful shops. La Tania sits between Courchevel and Méribel so has good access to both, and for the more adventurous it is possible to ski across to Val Thorens to enjoy the slopes there for a few hours before you have to journey back.
I enjoyed my first stay so much that I came back, and I was not disappointed!

This was our 3rd visit to the hotel and once again it was excellent.
The location in La Tania is the best, ski in ski out and close to the main lift to take you up to the slopes.
We had a triple room with a balcony overlooking the piste. The room was very spacious with lots of storage, always warm and the bathroom and shower had plenty of hot water.
We made use each afternoon and evening of the spa area which has the largest jacuzzi, it was a little cold when we first arrived but this was soon fixed by the engineer.
The bar and lounge area is warm and friendly and the bonus of happy hour each evening between 5 and 6!
The food both for breakfast and evening meals were delicious, as a vegetarian there was plenty of choice and a nice balance of local and familiar dishes.
A very small negative would be the “afternoon tea”. When we stayed at the hotel in 2020 the afternoon tea that the hotel provided was plentiful with hot and cold savoury and sweet treats as well as hot drinks. Last year (January 2023) a very small area in one of the doorways to the breakfast room was set up in the afternoon with a hot drinks machine to dispense drinks and cakes. This year the afternoon tea consisted of a tray of sliced cakes in the bar area and no hots drinks only those you had to purchase from the bar! I’m not quite sure you can advertise that the hotel offers “afternoon tea” anymore.
Not withstanding the afternoon tea the hotel and its staff are excellent and we will definitely return hopefully for many years to come.

We stayed at the Montana for a week from 6 January 2024. We could ski right back to the hotel ski room and the gondola that quickly takes you up to the top of La Tania was a short "push" away.
Once at the top of the gondola access to Courchevel, Meribel and the rest of the 3 Valleys is easy while the red, blue and green runs back to the hotel are fantastic.
Our room had a balcony and was overlooking the piste. Unlike some "ski hotels" our room was of an excellent standard and was well equipped with plenty of storage space. We had a powerful shower over a large bath so we had the best of both worlds with lots of hot water at all times.
The ski storage room has lockers that will take 2 sets of skis and boots - there are 2 sets of boot warmers in each locker and they work really well. Warm, dry boots every morning!
The bar area is spacious with a nice open fire and drink prices were very reasonable.
Breakfast was a good selection of pastries, cold meats and cheeses, cereals, waffles, crepes, eggs, bacon, sausages etc, lots of coffee and tea options.
Dinner was served at the table with a selection of starters, mains and desserts and every meal we had was of an excellent standard.
The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful and our room was kept clean and tidy every day.
We didn't use the spa area - it's not our thing - but we did take a look around it and it all seemed to be fine.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for really good quality accommodation, excellent food, great location and wonderful staff.

We stayed at the Le Montana Hotel through a crystal ski package as a group of 4 and we had the BEST time.
The hotel areas were all well kept and the rooms were to a high standard also very well cleaned and the showers/bath were fab. They have a beautiful spa area that was always well maintained and it was fab to be able to use this in the afternoon after a days skiing.
The staff at the Le Montana were all amazing but we would like to give a special shout out to Leo, Julian and Emelie who went above and beyond at all services and really did make our holiday that little bit more special
No request was ever too much regardless of how busy they were, with everyone always willing to go above and beyond to help. Very polite and courteous staff all working well together to create a great atmosphere throughout.
Great ski in/out, a good ski area for people of all abilities.
Food was super with good options every night. The standard was high and again service was amazing at Breakfast and dinner.
The area was perfect for us and with the Ski Lodge only a stone throws away we had everything we could ask for & we will definitely be re booking as soon as we can!

I did this with our family in December as such a good deal, less than £3.50 per night. Restaurant is on same level as the bar and lounge so going to dinner very simple. Bathroom good for the pool as someone else mentioned and the bubbly in the room made my wife smile. We didn’t eat the cheese as had so much food before that so often asked them not to bring it. The hotel is great and the staff lovely and you’ll be lucky to find a better ski in ski out location. Have fun.
there is a very good ski hire shop outside the hotel. Just at the bottom of the nursery slope. Very friendly and fast.
