We stayed here at this wonderful spot in the hills of Italy. Our hosts were wonderful and became our friends. Many of the locals came to the spot for delicious foods cooked on-site by Monika and her mom. The family was very gracious and the accommodations were comfortable, clean and very scenic.
If you are looking for brilliant food, genuinely warm and friendly hospitality and an experience of rural Italy away from the usual tourist trail - this is the place to stay. We loved it and did not want to leave - two nights was not long enough so we will be back!
My family has stayed at Il Pellegrino twice. Jutta's and Marco's hospitality is fantastic and the Taro Valley is like a journey back in time. Small towns and villages with great food, coffees and siestas. Almost no tourists and beautiful nature, ideal for trekking, trail running, mountain biking ... or a donkey trip with Marco. Dinner at Il Pellegrino is very tasty Italian dishes with good wines... Like private dining with a twist. Il Pellegrino is truly a bargain and we'll definitely come back.
We stopped for a brief visit in 2010 and stayed much longer than we intended. And we have returned from Australia for another extended visit in 2013. We experienced a delicious meal and good company on Christmas Day, and an exciting, different New Year's Eve. The food once again was sumptuous and the many people blended well together. The rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed, but most importantly, Marco and Jutta are both welcoming and good company. They have donkeys, chickens and rabbits, not forgetting Zoe the dog, to lend a country atmosphere, and the views of the surrounding mountains and the River Taro are beautiful. There are many places of interest to visit nearby, but it is always a pleasure to return to this lovely home.
My family (wife and 3 kids) stayed with Jutta and Marco at Il Pellegrino in July 2012. We had the place recommended and expected a lot, but all our expectations were exceeded. The rooms are very cosy and comfortable with a great view of the green mountain sides surrounding the house. Next to the house is the River Taro, where we enjoyed swimming and playing with the kids, who also fell in love with Zoe the dog, the kittens and all the rabbits. We took day trips from Il Pellegrino into the mountain and visited old villages and we went to the sea side, but the highlight of the day was always returning to Il Pellegrino and enjoying a quick swim in the river before enjoying Jutta’s fantastic local cooking. She is brilliant in the kitchen and also makes delicious preserves, marmalades and such. Even more than a month after returning home, the kids are talking about Il Pellegrino and going back to Marco and Jutta everyday. The are the friendliest host couple you could imagine. We look forward to visiting them again next year!…
