Nkwazi has been the best backpackers I have been so far. The farm is beautiful, amidst fruit trees and all kinds of vegetable plantations. So fresh products like papaya or eggs are available to buy all time! Clean rooms, a huge kitchen, a pool, pool table... there is everything you need for your stay. And all is shared with super lovely, welcoming hosts, who create a family like atmosphere. Definitely will come back!

The past week at Nkwazi with Mike and Courty has been a truly special experience.
We have been on a culinary journey that has covered all genres and style of food from local asian, homemade vegetarian, sustainable eating and even traditional homemade pizza making to name a few.
They have shared so much about sustainable living and lifestyle practices, and about how permaculture is such integral part of our future.

As for the wildlife, it was out of this world! The gardens are full of local bird-life which is testimony to an ecosystem that is healthy and thriving.
Whale watching from Zinkwazi, which is the local blue flag beach, was out of this world. On the Sunday afternoon we spent sometime with family as we watched whales breaching and playing out at sea. This all while sipping a cold beer from the deck of the local ski boat club.

This entire embodiment of a lifestyle is where living is true to its form. I could not recommend nowhere better to unwind and reconnect with nature and ones self than Nkwazi Eco Backpackers.

A true pioneer in sustainable living...

This is the place where I have begun my permaculture journey at, just finishing volunteering here for one month. Such a great place with beautiful gardens to get stuck into and learn about permaculture hands on. Mike and Courtney are lovely, warm and welcoming people, with lots of knowledge to share! I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to learn and experience more about how to live a sustainable life, in harmony with nature. I'm wishing you guys all the best for your future endeavours in turning this backpackers into an abundant permaculture paradise!

The place was very clean, I was disturbed by the music which was blasted by the owner until 2 am. The breakfast was not worthy the price charged. an additional sausages, beans and bacon would really do wonders

This Review is for a very special person - Sarah Kathleen Long

Lets stop sipping from the cup of electric Kool-aid momentarily and lets start talking of a perma plot space holder.. namely Sarah Kathleen Long Garden Manager and Resource Volunteer Co-ordinator at Nkwazi Eco Backpackers.
To say she’s far beyond her years and natural ability to excel in this sort of environment for the betterment of her surroundings, I will indeed take my hat off to her and bow my head. She is graceful with so much love to offer in her immediate placement, Nkwazi Backpackers is one of the most progressively beautiful bountiful sustainable permaculture farms I have come to hold so dearly in my heart.
Sarah Kathleen Long has a insightful longing to proof herself in her abilities, and I wish to state and show my unwaivering support in her endeavours in this field as she has brought this place true unconditional love which shines through everything she does, she’s distinctive and not your A-typical character especially because permaculture isn’t a 4x4 box of universal plug-n-play solutions that will work anywhere, it takes someone dynamic and driven.
Sarah makes the most incredibly delicious veg meals straight from the garden and works incredibly hard. She deserves appreciation with the highest regard.
Sarah I wish you success in everything you do.
The volunteers are coached, they learn, they love, they become one with all they do, TEAM-ECOFORTHEWIN <3 you strive for excellence and I want you to know you doing an Amazing job!!

ECo-Centric ECo-Divine.

We stayed there 2 nights and we really enjoyed: Courtney and Mike were very friendly, always up to chill and recommend us places and activities, the whole hostel was clean, the kitchen was well-equipped (we could also take advantage of their fabulous sustainable garden by using their self-grown herbs and veggies), the pool was perfect for relaxing before enjoying the beach (5 mins by car) in the afternoon. In sum, it is a compulsory stop if you plan to travel close to KwaDukuza. We will come back for sure either as customers or as volunteers since they offer you the possibility to learn about permaculture and sustainable life in general.

Me and my girlfriend were lucky enough to stay at Nkwazi Eco Backpackers for 2 nights back in May. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home and warmly embraced. Mike and Courtney went above and beyond in making us feel part of the family and quickly got us up to speed with everything going on at the farm and we quickly brought into what they're trying to build and achieve. The rooms are spacious, clean and vibey with everything you need to relax and unwind. Food was absolutely amazing, fruit and veg picked from the farm straight onto the table and both mike and courtney rustled up some culinary delights.

If you're looking to embrace the natural surrounds the area has to offer you won't be disappointed, Mike is a super passionate and knowledgable birder and will spend time pointing out the feathered locals. Just a 5 minute drive down to a stunning beach

Of all the backpackers we stayed in on an 8 week trip this was by far our favourite and couldn't recommend this place enough....check it out and see what you've been missing!

What a wonderful surprise to find a guest house, not a backpackers! This team is definitely taking backpacking to the next level! Stunning, clean, spacious rooms! Beautiful grounds and garden, very family friendly! Their permiculture project is fantastic and has huge potential, you should go stay just to learn more about growing your own food! It is a fantastic facility for functions! Looking forward to going back soon!!

I expected less, but the establishment is excellent. The room was very nice, very neat. The people are very very polite, they interact at a personal level, which is way better than any customer service. The yard might require bit of paving, perhaps few carports, but that's not a deal breaker. I definitely will visit again.
