Detailed Reviews
We had a lovely stay at Carmel Cottages. We had a wedding in Elgin so just slept there. The bed was cosy and clean. The room and bathroom was clean from top to bottom. Had a nice warm shower after a long evening. Would like to stay there a weekend and do the farm walks.

Booked months in advance for the accommodation. On arrival the person that was meeting us to show our rooms stank of booze and nothing was check that it was working properly.
We had to phone cause the lights in all the rooms was off. After we found the electric board we were able to get the lights on ourselves. The geyser was not working. So we had to bath my two year old two hours after bedtime cause we had to use pots on the stove (which also did not work, only after a phone call a we were told to set the time on the stove to make it work!! This should have been done at check in by the staff not is!!). Needless to say the rest of us went to bed dirty.... as the water was almost at freezing point. Once in bed we had some creature in the roof that fought with some other animal. So not only did we go to bed dirty, we also got no sleep and with toddler!!! When addressing the issues with owner he said it’s farm life (I grew up on a farm in the Namakwaland so I know farm life very well) And that he will give us a box of apples to say sorry.... next night and day went exactly the same!! No refund has been issued. I would not recommend this place to anyone wanting a good nights rest and a warm shower.
Other issues:
Bedside lamps was unplugged and no plug near to even plug them into....
One of the bedroom doors locks’ was broken, so it would bang throughout the night if you did not put something there to prevent it.
You can see at the finishings in the place was done on the cheap and poorly.
