Detailed Reviews
Lovely location, off the beaten track in a quiet tranquil valley
Cottages are very basic, have not been refurbished since the 70's. Has almost everything you need.
Our unit only had a bath but there are showers and separate bathroom facilities which are more modern.
I think the price is a little high considering how dated the accommodation is.
None the less was good enough and had a lovely stay.
One note for cyclists, the MTB trail is no longer accessible from this location, it is a few km away at back 2 basics camp and is really an enjoyable ride for all levels.
I did enjoy the contactless check in and out

We were very impressed with our stay at Oak Lane Cottages. The cottage was charming with rustic feeling, and a few minutes walk from the farm lake - ideal spot for picnic, swimming and to canoo (boats and paddles free to be used by geusts). Each cottage is equipped with a picnic basket with blankets and pillows which is a really nice touch to an already great stay. It's a very quiet area which helps you relax, however each cottage is equipped with braai area to entertain. Overall perfect country escape in my opinion!

It has been a long time since our last visit to Oak Lane Cottages so there was an element of nostalgia to our stay. The cottage, Braeburn, was much the same as we remembered it, nestled in a secluded spot on the property along with sister cottage, Rosemarie with a shared braai area. Fortunately no one had booked Rosemarie so we had the place to ourselves. Note to self: book with friends or check that the cottage is free to avoid sharing the braai area with strangers. The little veranda provides a great parking off spotlight relaxing view down a gentle slope dominated by two magnificent oak trees. The cottage inside is basic but all we needed for the weekend. The only minor issues we had were a temperamental gas water heater (seems to be a thing with gas water heaters) and a fridge that seemed to have forgotten how to turn off. Overall impression: great value, old school, basic but comfortable, close to some of the best mountain biking trails in the western cape. We will be back.

Cottages were simple but perfectly adequate, beds very comfy. Staff were very attentive, even arriving with a tractor when we needed towing out of thick mud. A beautiful, peaceful setting on the farm, ideal for walking and riding. Rosemarie and Braeburn cottages set down by the river under oaks with plenty of birds are highly recommended.

We had such a lovely time from start to finish. The surroundings were breathtaking, even the ride to the farm was such a great experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our everyday walks on the farm and that we could explore the beautiful surroundings. The cottage was equipped with everything we could need and was received perfectly clean and in order. If there were any inquiries, Elke was just a phone call away. We enjoyed traveling to the surrounding markets and attractions in the area, it was close enough to everywhere we wanted to be. Without second thoughts, we will definitely return to Oak Lane.

Had a lovely relaxing time staying at the cottages. The host and staff were super friendly and helpful. The dam was such a heaven sent on the hot days, and cycling around the farm was great for the kids. We picnicked under the Oak trees, played frisbee and soccer. Less than half an hour's drive from Gordon's bay and Strand was great for getting to the beach.

Beautiful property, great location
Cottage is quite dated, cupboards don't have shelves or hangers. Lighting is dim.
But if you can put that all aside is a wonderful place. Take your bottle of bubbles to the dam and watch the sunset there

Cottages in serene beautiful location. A dam is close by, vineyard runs in the morning - birds chirping - perfect.
Our cottage was small yet functional and fully kitted. It was spacious enough for two (there are other bigger house options on the property). It's lush and green in spring.

The location is absolutely beautiful. The property is nestled between trees, and the it is really scenic. Beds were very comfortable and the unit was clean. Unfortunately, there was no shower in the unit and not enough hot water for three people to bath comfortably. Overall, the unit missed a homely feel, taking into consideration that it is a self-catering cottage. A bit overpriced compared to similar options in the area.

+1
We booked 2 days but were so disappointed when we got there. Our cottage were very run down, cant think that any maintenance was done in a while. The garden set was super uncomfortable. The microwave didnt heat the food. There is not even a fan to use during summer so we were very hot. No shower inside the cottage only a bath….
See the pics attached.
Sorry but we wont be back!
