This is a brand new hotel and is decorated to a very high standard. The staff were welcoming and efficient, with check in and check out being quick and easy. We stayed in an immaculate, small room with en-suite costing £115 for one night. It was spotless. The toiletries were excellent and were additive free - no parabins or environmentally harmful substances. Each room has an Ipad to use for the hotel information and to order breakfast and when I fedback about an issue I was having, staff very quickly and satisfactorily dealt with it. The room was too warm for our taste but we were able to adjust the thermostat and open a small window. The room was bijou but the bed was deliciously comfortable with high quality pillows and bed linen. We didn’t have breakfast, though it was reasonably priced at £14. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Richmond. Thank you staff for looking after us on Tuesday and Wednesday. Wonderful service.

My husband and I had a fabulous stay at The Selwyn. The check-in staff were all so welcoming and helpful - many thanks to Jessie and Daniela! The Selwyn room we stayed in was delightful with an extremely comfortable bed, great shower and the all-important Nespresso coffee machine, and breakfasts were delicious with an extensive choice of continental and hot food plus charming and attentive staff. The decor throughout the hotel is tasteful, luxurious, and immaculately presented. The location is ideal for strolling into Richmond to restaurants, cafes, shops and walks by the river, or a short walk to the station. We look forward to returning to The Selwyn and thoroughly recommend it!

Very comfortable hotel, right in the centre of Richmond. It looks like it's been recently renovated, and it's stylishly decorated with still photos from old movies. The room was very clean and comfortable, with all the facilities you'd expect and a few nice additional touches (e.g. a Roberts digital radio by the bed). The breakfast is excellent, with fresh pastries, plenty of yogurt, cereals and fruits, and lots of care and attention to detail in preparing the cooked dishes. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. You can really see that they put in a lot of effort to make staying here a special experience for guests.

A nice hotel in a good location.
The reception staff were very welcoming and friendly, the hotel is clean and well appointed.
The standard room is very small, only just large enough for the bed. The bed and linen were comfy. Very limited space for baggage and belongings, we only stayed 2 nights so did not have much with us but was still very cramped. The air conditioning was very welcome especially as the windows only open a small crack. The noise from the rooms above carried through even just walking around and doors opening and closing.
The rooms are only serviced daily if you specifically request by hanging out a sign - we forgot to do this so no room cleaning for us. For a higher price point 4star hotel i would have thought this service should be standard. It is disguised as environment saving where really it is cost saving for the management.
tea/coffee in the room which was nice although only 1 teabag in our box. No glasses etc for water or to stand toothbrush in. Toiletries basic and no extras - shower cap etc. which is normally standard in a 4star hotel.
The breakfast really let this hotel down. The pastry selection looked fantastic but was truly horrible, tasted stale as if they had been stored in a fridge. The cooked selection was poor, the scramble eggs on our first day were a very odd colour (brown!) and tasted awful, the other options had not been seasoned at all and dressed with a bit of limp parsley as if a throwback to the 80's.

A good hotel which could be great and needs to improve on the little things for the price they charge.

The Selwyn is a fantastic hotel for anyone planning to visit Richmond. We stayed for two nights with our family of three in room 210. It was one of the only hotels we found during our stay in and around London with two good size beds and additional space for hanging out in the room. The amenities provided in the room were fantastic. Excellent tea coffee and biscuit options as well as full size bottles of both still and sparkling water. The check-in process was smooth and the staff was courteous and professional. Anytime we had a request they were prompt in addressing it. The rooms were updated and clean as was the entire property. The location is an easy walk from the rail station and sits right on several key bus routes. You can walk to most of Richmond's sites from the hotel and there is excellent food and grocery options very close by. Highly recommend for both business and personal travel.

As others have mentioned the hotel is in an excellent location and well appointed with tasteful details and decor but the size of the rooms and functionality make this place a real challenge. We had a luxury room and travelling internationally and we had absolutely no space for our luggage. Not to mention the lift was broken with no one to help with our large bags up or down two flights of stairs! And a rather nonchalant apology for the major inconvenience! The place has a bit of a pretentious vibe. Trying to make coffee was very difficult because of the tiny space and the bath has very limited space for toiletries for more than one person. This hotel would be good for single business people or a couple for a weekend with very minimal cases but definitely not good for international travelers. We called for an Uber and the front desk said they pick people up a few doors down but that was not the case and the Uber came to the hotel which was quite frustrating and we had to run find him and direct him where we actually were!!!

This is a beautiful stylish hotel, with lovely clean, modern rooms. The staff were particularly helpful. Keith, who runs the breakfast ensures there is meticulous attention to detail and was happy to serve me coffee in the lobby. Nothing was too much trouble.
The bed was comfy and the shower was hot and powerful. Good tea and coffee facilities in the room too and a nice big TV. All lights can be operated from the bed. The air conditioning was excellent. I had a lovely quiet room. All in all a great place to stay. I would highly recommend.

We stayed at the Selwyn as we were visiting to see a show at the local theatre. What a beautiful hotel!! The hotel had only been open for 2 months and it has been refurbished to a very high standard. Room was fabulous with all mod cons including a tablet with info and ability to order pillows/blankets/drinks etc. Great heating/air con systems and underfloor heating in the bathroom. Plugs and mirrors in all the right places for convenience (which is always an issue in other places we have stayed). Beds and pillows super comfy and nice big TV with Chromecast to enable you to watch Netflix etc.
Breakfast was wonderful. We had eggs Benedict and Omlette. The chef even popped out to check it was to our liking.
Andre was a fantastic host. So much so, we have rebooked to return in June.
Nothing was too much trouble and all staff were friendly and attentive.
Well done on a great hotel xx

This renovated hotel is an excellent place to stay for those wanting to visit London easily and inexpensively, for the station with tube and surface rail connections is only a 5-minute walk from the premises. The rooms are tastefully furnished, the beds are comfortable, and the staff are welcoming and motivated. The only drawback is the lack of a lift (perhaps it's a listed building?), but the efficiency and friendliness of the porter made up for that!
