Mara is very friendly and helpful. The bedding were nice and clean. Quaint little room with small table. Nice. until....
On arrival we wanted to use the toilet, and it was as if someone staying there before us had an explosion in the toilet and it wasn't cleaned. I sanitized the toilet, basin and shower myself. The crockery and cutlery were dirty which I washed before use. We were very cold as there were no extra blankets in the room and there was a cold front. The bush kitchen was locked so we didn't have access to the utensils there. The two log cabins are connected with dry walling, so you can hear and feel what's going on next door. We didn't sleep at all due to the cold front and noise from the cabin next door and traffic on the road.

Wow what can i say about La Chaumiere, its one of the most beautiful guest houses I've stayed in we as a family really enjoyed the serenity and tranquility of the place however we had terrible service from the moment we arrived, we where greeted with the worst attitude ever. We where told in a very abrupt way that we had to wait until they where done with lunch before we could get any assistance. We waited a while before keys where given to us. We had no assistance from anyone for the whole duration of our stay only of the morning of check out did someone scream at us to be out by 10 as they needed to clean. My kids still wanted to enjoy the facilities eg the pool area but i was told in a very rude manner to be off the properly by 10. We love the place but service is the worse i have ever experienced

Went with a team for a teambuilding session. We arrived to no welcome from the owners (husband and wife) who we were told had left since that morning. As such we were left to our own devices. We indicated we wouldn't require dinner as we would be having a braai (bbq) instead. The husband was kind enough to start the fire for us and set up two fire pits. However, we were surprised to be chased out of the kitchen when trying to make salads and such (with all our own ingredients)! The wife was extremely rude about it. I can get that we were in her kitchen but we were paying guests and I'm not sure how else she would have preferred we make the accompaniments to the meat!!!?? Worst of all was how she spoke to everyone. The worst treatment I experienced in a long time. And until we left, she never apologised. The rooms were old but clean (no surprises there as we were warned), could use a little updating. But the property is charming and peaceful. I will not be going back but not because of the property but rather the treatment we got which left a bitter taste in my mouth.

What an horrible experience and we didn't even get as far as staying at the Guesthouse. During our reservations process, after asking for assistance as we are not familiar with the area, we have a wedding in Hartebeesport and want accommodation closest to the venue and having struggled to find the exact location of the Guesthouse after already paying our deposit to secure our booking, showed that is was 22km drive away which is not a distance to travel after a night at a wedding. I kindly request for my deposit back and to cancel the booking. I myself work in hotels and I know the processes. I got a very rude and cheeky response back. I would not recommend this Guesthouse to anyone, right from the bookings process it wasn't pleasant.

What a horrible experience we had! Bathroom was dirty and full of hair, chaotic check in, the rooms were filthy... would avoid and insist on elsewhere if possible. did not feel safe at times.
we tried talking to some of the staff but their response wasn't pleasing, they were rude and harsh. we were told to pack our things and go if we weren't happy with their service. and lastly the food, was extremely horrible, I had to go out and buy food outside. you guys should consider hiring professional chefs.
I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

My wife and I stayed in this natural stone guesthouse last night prior to flying to the UK. We had a small, cosy room inside the main house, complete with underfloor heating. Lots of nice warm bedding and crisp clean sheets led to a good night's sleep.

We were up at the crack of dawn, still dark outside and the ceiling light in the bathroom blew, which led to a rather interesting shower by candlelight!

This is not a 5 star accomodation, but it was perfectly fine for a 3 star place and at R600 a night for 2 people, excellent value. We didn't eat breakfast so can't comment on the food.

Mara was really friendly and helpful and by the time we left I felt like an old friend. All in all a good stay.
