We had read a lot of reviews and where very worried about our stay, so we rang the hotel before our trip. They where aware of the bad reviews and had lots of management meetings to address the problems. When we arrived the Hotel was a castle with a hotel within it, the building it self was beautiful. The weather was wonderful and we had lunch in the courtyard which was within the castle grounds, this was first class. We also booked our evening meal in the restaurant, which was also first class, from attention to detail to the taste of the food. Breakfast was one of the best we have had and nothing was to much trouble for the staff to sort out. There was a wedding on at the Hotel while we where there, but again this did not have a impacted on our enjoyable stay at Lumley Castle. Well done to all the staff members who worked very hard on the smooth running of Lumley Castle.

Dear Lynne B Thank you so much for your kind review and for taking the time to provide feedback around your stay. Receiving a 5 Star review means a lot to the team. Regarding previous reviews, as with the majority of hotels currently, we're subject to the spontaneous removal of young staff (that are partially or non vaccinated) from the hotel due to positive Covid tests and isolations. It doesn't happen often but when it does it presents issues we can't plan for. On these occasions most guests have been wonderful and supportive in understanding the issues at hand, issues that are also affecting so many other industries. The good news is that we're all fit and healthy currently which is why we're now delivering 5 Star reviews across all of our online review platforms, and why you enjoyed such an enjoyable stay with us. Long may this continue. We hope to see you back at Lumley at some point in the future. The Lumley Experience Team

splendid hotel. I can't remember the name of the room but there is a picture of it The ambience of the room felt like staying an actual castle, not just in a modern finished room fitted into a castle. The whole place is just gorgeous - and also a little complicated at first. On our way navigating to reception through the courtyard we passed another couple trying to find their way somewhere else. Were either of us put out? Not in the least, we were all clearly actually enjoying the experience, such is the wonder of this castle. The stairs to our room were even the old stone spiral stairs that one usually finds in the old castles (of course furnished with rugs and banisters). Staff were all excellent and helpful. Every single room and corridor simply overflowing with ambience. One of my wife's best memories of our 'round the country' holiday. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Dear JulianM70 Thank you so much for your kind feedback which was fully appreciated by the team. You're absolutely correct to point out that we are definitely an authentic castle and not just offering a Castle exterior. The team were delighted that you found them friendly and helpful. We do put a great deal of time into training the team and so receiving positive feedback is especially helpful. We hope to see you again in the near future. The Lumley Experience Team

My beautiful Fiancee organised, quite secretly, a stay in The Queen Anne Room at Lumley Castle. Simply looking at the place left me open-mouthed, and I don't think that look changed throughout our stay. From receiving a birthday card from the staff at reception upon check-in, to finishing our stay with a fine Full English, our stay was exemplary. Staff from the get-go were happy, always greeting us cheerfully as we explored the stunning halls and grounds, and couldn't do enough for us. The Queen Anne Room is stunning! My partner recorded my reaction as I entered, but it's not for young ears! A bath you could swim in, a Four-Poster to spend the night... Sleeping! The toilet door inexplicably locked itself from the inside at 1am, yet 5 minutes later opened of it's own accord. Take from that what you will, but it only enhanced our stay. Food was perfect, I like a rare fillet and it was done to perfection. The missus' lamb, well done, again perfect. I honestly couldn't reccomend Lumley Castle enough. Just do it!!!

Dear Willytuggz Thank you for leaving such a super review which has been shared with the hotel team. The Queen Anne room has incredible character and we're delighted you enjoyed it, including the slightly ghostly goings on with the toilet door. Lumley is a prime venue for major birthdays and celebrations and we do hope to see you again in the future. The Lumley Experience Team

Popped in to arrange forthcoming visit for October, was shown around by Dean who was extremely helpful. I spoke to someone after my visit by phone who was helpful too but when I couldn’t speak to them I managed to re speak to Dean who managed to book what I wanted and could not have been more helpful.
