We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary here even though we live locally. Our room was perfect. Extremely clean and very spacious. The view was lovely. I could’ve sat for hours watching the world go by The food in the restaurant was spot on. We enjoyed an evening meal and breakfast the next morning. The staff were polite and made sure we had a pleasant stay.

Excellent. The service was first class. The food out of this world. The menu is excellent and the standard of the cuisine was faultless. We arrived by boat and were fortunate to moor up directly outside. We will all definately be revisiting this restaurant again.

This proved to be the ideal venue to take a guest for a business lunch. Sat overlooking the River Stour, the service was friendly, timely and professional. The quality of the food and presentation was superb, with an excellent choice of wines and drinks. Have no hesitation in recommending.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your review Mike following your recent "superb" business lunch with us. It is fantastic to hear that you loved the quality of our food and the friendliness and professionalism of our service team. That is our aim and it is wonderful to receive such comments and a real boost for the crew. Being a Christchurch man yourself, you know how beautiful our little town is but it remains special to be able to have a work meeting next to such a glorious backdrop. We very much hope to see you again soon...

This experience of the Captain Club is just unbelievable! My friend and I tried to get a drink Saturday afternoon around 4.30pm, the guy on reception told us a convoluted story. We only wanted a quick drink and were dressed more smartly than others in the outside space that was about 30% Full tops He said there were no spaces for “walk ins” because people who were eating inside might want to then eat outside. This establishment used to be Pontins when I was young. Far better service then I can tell you! There are other better places to enjoy an early evening drink!

Thank you for taking the time to post your review after passing the Captain's Club on Saturday afternoon. One of the things that it gives us no pleasure to do is to turn away people who want to visit us and we are sorry that this had to happen to you. The truth is that we have to look after the guests we have booked and the residents we have staying in-house. We manage our staffing levels accordingly and if we took too many 'walk-ins', and our service suffered, it is not fair on those who have booked in advance and you would be the first to complain. I have been working in the hospitality industry for over 30 years and the current climate is the craziest ever to hire new crew members while also balancing the increasingly demanding expectations of guests. At the Captain's Club, we pride ourselves on our service and the happiness of the people who work for us. The last thing that we want to do is to upset either party by taking extra guests (like many others do out of greed), and not be able to service them properly. I really trust that you would take the time to understand our situation and consider removing this negative review. We really hope to be able to welcome you to the Captain's Club Hotel in the future and wish you a wonderful summer until then…
