Loved our stay at the Forest House in Coleford, Gloucestershire. Perfect for large groups of family or friends. Each room has an en-suite bathroom which are very clean and looked after. Kitchen is a commercial set up and works really well in cooking large meals. Comfortable and enjoyable - my only request to the owners would be a few more sofas in and around the ground floor would be a welcomed addition to relax! Great walks around the area, you’re right in the centre of the village with perfect amenities and supplies on your doorstep. Happy New Year!

Thank you for your response! I agree totally about the sofas and have a 3 seater arriving next week for the small lounge and a corner set arriving in 12 weeks for the games room together with a couple of giant bean bags! As you know we are just changing from a guest house to a holiday let and the needs are slightly different. Your feedback has been invaluable and we have acted upon it immediately. So pleased that you enjoyed your stay Best Regards Barbara & Simon

What a fantastic place for a Christmas meal with friends. They catered for 30 of us and served everything perfectly. The food was served on time and tasted fantastic. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

We attended a group meal here for our Badminton Club to celebrate Xmas. We were given a room to ourselves, which allowed us to relax and be ourselves. The food was served fresh, hot and as ordered. The menu for their Xmas Dinner was varied enough to suit all tastes. Drinks are reasonably priced and served by staff who are friendly and proffesional. The atmosphere is good, as is the setting; with quiet mood music lilting in the background. Be aware that the car park here is quite small, but the property is just across the road from the town car park, which is free to park from 18:00. A great evening with friends. Glad we chose this for the occasion.

I have recently moved to the area and came across the Forest House on Trip Advisor. It's a hidden gem, a place that you don't notice instantly as you drive through Coleford. Having wanted to go there for a while we finally got a date in the diary, and it didn't disappoint. Lovely meal, great service, and a nice atmosphere. It's hard to get taxis in the area at short notice so the evening was topped off by the owner driving us home instead! Not often you get service like that. We did only live 1 mile down the road though so don't expect it for every booking!

We stayed here having never visited the forest before. It was a good choice, the bedroom was big enough to sit in as well the furnishing was lovely. Breakfast and dinner where excellent There is a bean to cup coffee machine in reception which you can use whenever you like. I would certainly recommend it. The only thing I would do is replace the bathroom pull cord in room 2 and put a nice wooden knob on the end.

We have just returned from a two night stay here. We had a lovely time and the staff were wonderful! Breakfasts were delicious and we also had an evening meal which was very tasty. We stayed in room 1 and were very comfortable. I would highly recommend it. It is a great base for visiting Symonds Yat and the Forest of Dean.

We visited here for dinner one evening. The decor is lovely, and we felt right at home as soon as we walked through the door. The lady ( assuming the owner ) was very friendly, welcoming and efficient. There were six of us and we had a variety of items from the menu, all were fantastic, i can highly recommend the Crackly Pork, it was amazing, and large. What a great find, and if we lived near we would be returning again and again. We didn't stay in the hotel, but I'm sure its lovely.
