Old world charm at the newly restored The Craiglynne Hotel. Our Victorian granite hotel, situated under the majestic Cairngorms, has just been restored and refurbished to the highest standards. With 82 stylish rooms and superb grounds, relaxing here during your stay is irresistible; however we also highly recommend visiting the beautiful villages, mountains, rivers and forests nearby. After a day exploring, there's nothing better than sinking into an armchair by one of our roaring log fires to share stories of Lochness, Inverness and the hugely popular whisky trail. When you are looking for hotels in Grantown-on-Spey, near Aviemore, stay with us and be one of the first to enjoy our restored hotel.

You can have a decent stay at this hotel that is if you are able to get one of the renovated rooms. If not book a room elsewhere. The old rooms are nowhere near 21st century hotel standards. Staff were friendly (but mostly untrained) and tried to make the best of it but the hotel in general is in a downwards spiral. Breakfast organization is chaotic with a constant lack of supply. We did not dine here because we didn’t dare. Instead go tonThe Wee Puffin, a great place. Avoid this hotel if possible.

Great staff and super room, clean and tidy and modern. However the food offering was not good. Presentation of food looked amazing. I had the Chicken with Haggis. The Chicken was overcooked and partly chewy. For over £20 not worth the Money. I opted for the Cheese after and this was perfect. As for breakfast I would have gone to McDonalds! All the food was in warmers and not very hot. I left most of it as it was inedible. How can I hotel like this get it so wrong. To sum up. Fantastic staff at front of house. Modern room. But I won't be returning as the food served is very poor. Lots in the kitchen area of this hotel requires improvement.

Although the hotel was clean, the staff lovely, the hotel was let down by its dated decor and several things needed repairing. We know because of having a dog it would be basic but peeling wallpapered ceiling, mould in bathroom, holes in duvet cover and stained chairs. Good job snooker was on bbc1 as only station you could get. Forget Internet hardly any signal. We were left disappointed as such a beautiful building in a good location.

Our second stay in this lovely friendly hotel. We stayed here for four nights as part of a Highland Coach Tour. We were in room 209 overlooking the front of the hotel, the bed was comfortable with extra heating available in the room if required. The food was very good both at breakfast and dinner, staff were efficient and friendly and there was entertainment three out of the four nights.

I must admit I was a bit dubious about staying, after I read some of the reviews. It just shows that I think they were in a different hotel. We were in room 58 and then in 61. We only moved because the people in the first room had the television on loud. Both rooms were tastefully decorated. A nice shower, new furniture. The beds were really comfortable as were the pillows. The breakfast was plentiful and there was a great selection. Staff very obliging so al in all a great stay. Thank you.p

Granted got a Groupon offer, with £30 towards food and drink but the prices for a 3 star hotel are astronomical. £15 for a burger and £2 if you want to add cheese, £30 does not go far at all. Rooms are basic, cleanish and large. Receptionist was very friendly and welcoming. Girl on the bar, not so much. Bathroom grotty and although I get that grout can discolour just makes it look unclean. Parking is shocking, very tight and not a lot of spaces, but there isn't a lot they can do about that. Probably would not return but it was good for what it was, but only because we got a Groupon offer, dread to think what full price would have been if the food prices are anything to go by.

Pulling up to the hotel, it’s a beautiful Sight. That’s where it ends, the hotel Despite a recent “renovation” presumably the dining area, was flagging, basic, and in need of upgrade. The light was on show with no cover and the paper on the ceiling coming off. The mattress - A slab of Steele The town has little in the way of later evening take always or food outlets, we went back to hotel to get something to drink and eat around 10pm - both bar and restaurant were shut!!! The bar doesn’t open until 5 and shut around 9pm. Despite plenty hotel guests! We stayed two nights, I had to ask for milk / coffee refreshments and clean towels. No one looked in our room for two days. Poor standard. However , the evening meal was nice, and staff pleasant.

I had two reschedule our visit twice due to different circumstances and they extended our voucher we had passed the due date. My son then took Ill on the day we were due to go and the first thing they said when I called was ‘when do you want to reschedule?’ - no hassle or anything. I ended up giving the stay to my mum in the end but I felt that the effort and response we got every time we contacted them was brilliant and hopefully we will be able to stay there some time soo.

Disappointed … to be told that I have to let a shower run for over 30 mins to get hot water ?? Really in this day in age what waste of water and energy .. and it still didn’t work … again as others have said all sorts of promises made and no one ever came to tell us anything .. then for it to be blamed on us .. not good… we did get moved to a much better room… but the shower fitting in that room was broken and the water pressure didn’t exist .. Also the wardrobe was broken .. the first room we had was so dated .. had wallpaper coming off the walls .. and was in need of major TLC… the towels and bedding were clean … the prices at the bar are silly .. over £11 for 2 drinks .. and we didn’t eat cause we never once felt welcome in the hotel .. if your going to charge top prices for food and drink the very least u should get is hot water … all in all a very disappointing break .. and there is no way we would ever return
