Decided to have a weekend break here sue to a foreign trip being cancelled due to travel restrictions. Quite a queue at check in as a wedding part was checking in. Got through people quickly and Vera was friendly, efficient and informative. Room fine, pretty average, but had iron, safe, hair dryer and tea making facilities so reasonably well appointed. They has weddings on several days we were there, but the layout ensured that you didn't get disturbed by the partying. Overall fairly quiet. Had a health club which was partially operational, (pool and gym). Used the pool once and it was fine. It's a shame it wasn't open for longer hours. Breakfast was buffet style and usually quite busy. A fairly good selection. Strangely vegetarian sausages were offer on the in room breakfast menu, but weren't available at the buffet, only meat ones? Only moan was lack of housekeeping. A four night stay saw the room cleaned once. You had to use the room towels for the pool which we used first day. Left please clean room notice on door and it wasn't. So had to go to reception to change the wet towels used in the pool from the day before. They said they would look into it. The following day, left clean note on door again for the day and again, no cleaning down. The last day (of four nights) was the only day that housekeeping did anything! A reasonable place to stay if price is OK. Seem to be more geared to business and weddings.

We booked through Off Peak Luxury for a birthday night away. The deal included muffins and prosecco on arrival, meal in the evening, 25% off a wine by the bottle and breakfast. The room was average, very basic and the cleanliness was not great. I find the 4 star rating a bit of a stretch. We never received the muffins and only received the prosecco after asking for both items. The reception staff didn't seem to have any idea of the deal. We decided to go down for a drink before our meal, you could not order from the bar and we waited to be served while staff were taking to family members and giving free drinks aware. We even over heard the manager say it was not busy that evening, considering it took 25 minutes to get a drink that was surprising. We eventually sat down to our meal and order a bottle of wine, we wait and waited and after asking for it again we were told it was out of stock. At this point we had finished out mains and it wasn't worth getting it. We then asked for another wine by the glass to also be told this was out of stock. Disappointed, we called it a night. My partner used the pool the next day before breakfast, he said it was quite nice but not overly clean. We went down to breakfast, we were barked at by the lady taking room numbers down. As it was table service only it was difficult to get served as each server seemed to be only doing one thing (i.e tea or coffee or taking orders). Breakfast was average. On the whole the stay was okay, I would struggle to recommend the hotel and I would not return.

Good sized rooms, use of the gym and pool and a nice spacious bar and breakfast area. We also enjoyed an afternoon tea which was adapted for my gluten free requirements and very enjoyable. It’s a lovely night’s stay but not quite hitting the mark for a 4 star hotel in that the complements in rooms are quite basic. I came in wearing a mask and was surprised when, despite the signage everywhere instructing the opposite, the masked receptionist informed me (without prompting) that I ‘didn’t have to wear a mask in the hotel if didn’t want to’?

It's only the first night but I wouldn't say this hotel is four star. The hotel room is a fair size there is no mini bar or any water unless you buy some at the bar. There is also no air con just a fan that doesn't really do much. I also noted our toilet had a lot of limescale and the bowl was pretty much brown! On a good point was the friendly service and complimentary bottle of prosecco and muffins which was a nice touch. I personally wouldn't stay here again In the future

Our room didn't exactly look like the pictures, our bath had marks in the bottom, toilet looked unclean but the icing on the cake was the restaurant. I ordered the beef from the set menu. The menu suggested a red wine jus would be included. My food arrived and looked delicious. It was so bland and disappointing. Noone asked how it was or came over and I ate half of it because they were running behind so it was already getting late and I was hungry. When asked at the end how my meal was, I explained the issue to which the waitress replied 'ok, are you sure you want nothing to do with it?' She had such poor customer service skills I don't think she knew what to say. I just said no thanks and she left it in front of me and didn't pass the message on to anyone. I've never had to add so much salt and pepper to a meal that looked so good, just to make it taste like something. Won't be coming again. Photos = the bath, the toilet and the 'jus'/ gravy that was as clear as the water it tasted like- not sure where the red wine went!
