Three friends out for a baby shower afternoon tea, 1 tea requested on booking as vegetation with no fish or egg either. Breakfast tea came without any milk served, no one then around to ask for milk, by which time the tea had gone cold so a whole new pot was required. Food took 40 minutes to come out after drinks, then the food wasn’t explained once it did eventually arrive. The vegetarian tea stand came with coronation chicken sandwiches which were sent back and replaced with poor vegan choices. Other two tea stands were great, nice to have ice coffee as an option on such a warm afternoon. Disputed the cost of the bill due to the service, the f&b manager was then argumentative and offered three proseccos complimentary, which we declined as all heavily pregnant. A real shame to a what could have been a lovely afternoon. Waitress Lilly (?) however was very understanding and kind so thank you.

I’ve always been a fan of this place, having been several times over the years - sometimes for lunch and sometimes afternoon tea. I was visiting Lymington with someone who’d never been before and I told them that Stanwell House was the place for food and atmosphere. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Both staff attitude and food quality have gone downhill. Everything average at best, which is a real shame. I won’t be going back.

We are a middle aged couple ( 55) , looking for a small wedding venue . We have looked at Stanwell several times over the past 5 years , today on a visit to Lymington we decided to call in for an afternoon drink . We were both in shorts , my partner in bermuda myself similar , we asked if we could just have a drink and the host said no i have literally no spaces at all , with no offer of they might have availability in one or two hours , it looked empty to us … but just no .. how disappointing they appear to judge by what they think is the “ right type “ of person at this establishment… Particularly as they also run the snake catcher in Brockenhurst that we have been to before a few times with an extremely warm welcome . Needless to say we will be looking elsewhere to spend our money and host our wedding , so disappointed

Went for afternoon tea after emailing a booking for 2 people! Was handed a menu and ordered 2 champagne afternoon teas and then had 2 extra glasses of champagne - was handed bill for £94!!!!! Dirty and scruffy garden, lack lustre food with one tiny pot of jam! Very sad to see our local hotel in this state! We used to be regulars - not anymore sadly! Now it’s changed hands it’s really gone downhill! Sad to write this as all the locals had high hopes!!

Stanwell House Hotel is ideally located in the centre of Lymington. We were surprised how lovely the garden was for a town centre hotel. It was easy to go for walks in the New Forest or around the harbour. All of the staff were polite, helpful and friendly. Special mention must be made of the receptionists who answered all of our questions about the area and of Damian and his team in the restaurant and bar. The chef produced wonderful meals every night. We look forward to coming back.
