We’ve had another brilliant stay at Wharton Lodge and can’t wait to visit again!
The wonderful 5 start cottages are absolutely immaculate; everything possible has been thought of. We felt very reassured by the excellent attention to sanitation measures during these challenging times of the Covid pandemic. There is secure, gated parking with a car charging point; the courtyard is great for children to play in too!
They are perfectly situated for visiting the Forest of Dean and surrounding areas. The new secure bike store is a genius addition. There are some superb eateries nearby; we particularly enjoyed Leonard’s at 39 in Ross and the Moody Cow in Upton Bishop.
The facilities at Wharton Lodge are fantastic with gardens to rival any National Trust property.
Nicky, George and their beautiful dogs make the perfect hosts!

Returning for our ninth successive visit in as many years, we've found that the same excellent service, welcome and facilities, remain a constant delight.
We had thought that the present circumstances could have caused difficulties, but Nicky, George and their Staff have rose to the challenge of Covid 19.
They have completed risk assessments, rigorous health and safety requirements and put in place procedures that will make your stay, safe and painless. All this done with their genial and hospitable graciousness we have come to expect. Best wishes for the future.

Dear C & D, We can't tell you how much your very kind feedback means to us. It has been a tough year for all of us but life at WL has been particularly strange and unsettling without visitors to our cottages. Nothing is more important than keeping a safe environment for our team and our guests and it's great that our efforts are appreciated. Please stay safe and we look forward to welcoming you back to WL when life is a little more back to 'normal'. With big thanks from Nicky, George and the WL Team xx

You couldn’t ask for more! We arrived in the pouring rain, to be welcomed by a cheerful Nicky. Nicky and George could not do enough for us, the cottage was inviting with all the mod Con’s you could ask for, including a well stocked larder.
The cottage itself, is idyllically situated, with a delightful outlook and many walks. The restaurants and pubs around and about serving great food. Nicky had ensured every concern Re COVID protection had been covered, and being our first time away from home it was very reassuring!
We’ve have had to cancel many holidays abroad this year, but if we can come to places like ‘Wharton Lodge’ then we will be more than satisfied.
We were concerned about staying in a hotel, re COVID but staying here we defiantly got all the comforts of home and charm thrown in!
Will we come again? You bet if they have a vacancy!

Lovely cottages in stunning surroundings!
We came as a family of four plus a dog and the cottage was the perfect size for us. It’s in a great location and we visited many local towns and villages.
The property owners are lovely and very welcoming and knowledgeable about the local area.
Would highly recommend!

Wharton Lodge has 3 superb holiday cottages and we have had another fantastic stay in Grosvenor. Everything about the place is top quality and the owners go above and beyond to make their guests welcome.
The cottages are kept spotlessly clean and the gardens are immaculate. It is obvious that the whole team take great pride in their work. It is a fab place to stay and relax at any time of year and I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
It is in a fantastic location, lots to see and do locally, lots of nice walks & it is also nice just to chill out in the beautiful gardens.
Thank you to all the team at WL, we had a really enjoyable stay and we really appreciate the effort you all put in to make it such a special place.

DO please read other all other reviews? They are very accurate in their descriptions of Wharton Lodge and its ambience. The cottages, whichever you select, are delightful. Nicky and George have created three lovely self contained pretty homes. From the warm greetings from your hosts, the generous welcome pack to their (V well behaved!) waggy - tailed pets, you'll realise that your stay here will be special. There's so much to do in this lovely part of UK, that is IF you can break away from the beautiful gardens, the glasshouse, the local parkland walks and.... your comfy (sparkly clean!) home. (PS There's a charging point for your car if needed).

If you are reading this review then you may be considering a stay at Wharton Lodge. Do it. Do it now before you lose your preferred dates. Honestly, you don't regret it. Mr Grey and I stayed in 'Elgar' and it was FABULOUS. I am a bit of a diva when it comes to cottages, I have a very high standard and expectations (Mr Grey just 'loves' how fussy I am!!) but he has to admit, I find some cracking places and this one is going in my Hall Of Fame. Nicki is a fizzily gorgeous hostess :o) and absolutely nothing was too much trouble. Have you booked it yet ?? Please don't miss out! Gorgeous cottage, stunning countryside, peace and quiet but with restaurants and shops and towns easily reachable. Mr Grey thoroughly enjoyed his birthday at Wharton Cottages but there WAS one problem..... I didn't book for long enough !! Hope this helps, it is gorgeous. Thank you Nicki and George for a wonderful stay!

Have spent three blissful nights at Elgar Cottage. This property was simply amazing and it was so much more than what we were expecting. We were very impressed with the level of communication from the owner when booking this cottage.

Property is very spacious, exceptionally clean, well appointed. We absolutely loved the most incredible four-poster bed! It was ever so comfortable! Could have stayed in bed all day if we could! Kitchen is very good and has everything you could possibly need.

Our welcome pack was very welcome indeed! Fresh bread, butter, eggs, marmalade, milk...

We were greeted by the owner Nicky who could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable.

This cottage is located in a very beautiful grounds. All we could hear at night is the sound of sheep!

This holiday let is FIVE star plus - without any doubt. We would recommend it to anyone without any hesitation. Very impressive.

Just home after spending a most relaxing week in Harewood cottage. Nicky and George are the most wonderful hosts and so welcoming. The cottage felt like from home and had everything you might need including a starter pack hamper, a very nice gesture. Our dog Toby loved the grounds and fields beyond. Overall a real 5 star luxury location.

Anyone who is planning to run a self catering business should invest in a stay at Wharton Lodge because Nicky, George and their team give a master class in how to do it. We have stayed in self catering accommodation all over the UK and Wharton Lodge is definitely the very best we have ever seen. Thank you very much for a most enjoyable stay.

Hello Maurice J, Thank you for your enquiry about Grosvenor vs Harewood's garden. They are very similar in size both having a round table and 4 chairs and during the warmer months, some reclining chairs. I was hoping to send some photos but I don't think it is possible via TA. A bonus to point out is that guests are welcome to use the main walled garden and furnished glasshouse. Being walled it's sheltered but also a sun trap any time of the day. There are plenty of seats, tables and benches. It is a large garden but it is never 'busy'. On my opinion I would suggest Grosvenor for your stay. Both cottages are lovely but Grosvenor has amazing views from all the main rooms. Hope this helps with the decision making but please do let me know if you have any other questions. We look forward to hearing from you Kind regards Nicky
