Agree with most reviews noting that this is a nice, charming, quirky place - it's historic and an older property so not for everyone. We quite liked it. Our room (first upstairs on the left) was very good sized, though the bathroom was tight and kind of "janky". The room was big enough for a small sofa. It was reasonably well appointed. It's in a great location, and as of right now - there is a parking arrangement for free parking about a short block away. As far as older reviews which mention food though...This property does not have a restaurant or pub or anything, maybe it did at one time?

I liked it a lot. But it's older and the edges are a little frayed. It's not "fully staffed" though there is someone there for check in hours. It's basically a come and go kind of place with a door code, and an old school key to the room.

There is a nice roof top garden area which you should take advantage of if you have time.

From the moment I made the phone call until I departed I found this place absolutely top notch.

It is an ancient building that has been beautifully preserved, the owner is very passionate about the place and rightly so.

There is a nice courtyard and a sunny, elevated garden with beautiful views.

The room was spotless, well appointed and very stylish.

For the quality of this property and the experience I would have expected a bill in excess of double what I paid, will be back many thanks

A quirky property which wouldn’t suit everyone. A great location on the high street so handy for shops and restaurants. A nice garden . 2 flights of stairs up to bedrooms . Room 1 was a good size with a sofa. The bed was very comfy. A small tv and very small bathroom . My problem was that it was freezing cold and no heating . I spent the evening wrapped in a blanket. We parked around the corner as no obvious car park although the owner later said we could use his parking if we wanted to

I can't recommend The Old Court House strongly enough. Christopher, the owner, was extremely welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The guest house is ideally situated in Ross on Wye. Our room was absolutely delightful and the breakfast, cooked to order, was delicious.

Andrew You seem to have booked about five minutes before you arrived and your booking did not get through the system to me until the next morning: I cannot be held responsible for events beyond my control. I am sorry for the experience but it was beyond my knowledge at the time: I would have been delighted to welcome you as I said in my email next day.

We booked the old court house for one night in august but the owner rang to say he. Couldn't accommodate us however he had reserved a room at another bed and breakfast for us . I thanked him and asked if I needed to do anything regarding the original booking ..He said he would send me an email with all the information I needed . A week later having not received any information I emailed him to which he replied "It must have got lost in the ether . He did include the address and phone number for the accommodation he had reserved for us . We rang and confirmed the room and enjoyed a lovely stay at the alternative bed and breakfast but when we returned home I received an email informing me that £125 had been taken from my credit card for one nights stay at the old court house !I phoned the owner straight the way (10pm) and after explaining the reason why I had contacted him , he refused to discuss the payment and said "no comment " to me pointing out that he cancelled the room adding that he couldn't deal with this so late at night ! (10pm) and was terminating the call . I said I would ring back tomorrow but he replied that he was busy all day but then said he would contact me ! I received a curt email the next morning which was titled WITHOUT PREJUDICE saying that he had sent me an email regarding cancellation as I needed to cancel the room with booking .com and because I hadn't done this I blocked anyone else from booking the room for that night and he had incurred charges of £45 . No offer to refund my money so I rang booking .com who were brilliant and after they had spoken to the Owner I received a full refund but no apology for his mistake . He sent me a copy of the email he alleged he had sent with the cancellation information but I checked it and saw that the email address was misspelt hence the reason why I didn't receive it ! I pointed out that the room had been cancelled by the owner so how could it have been available for others to book .The reluctance to address this mistake and rudeness of the owner has lead me to wonder whether this is a scam that he has got away with in the past and was hoping to do so again !

This is a complete and slanderous misrepresentation of the truth especially that booking.com did not speak to me and it took a day or so to sort out the mess and I secured a full refund for you. I have never had such a rude and inconsiderate response for all the help I gave you to find suitable accommodation. Fortunately you are the only case ever to behave like this!!

I stayed this guest house in July and was very disappointed with the premises though Chris was pleasant, the place was the least pleasant b&b I have stayed in. though it was convenient for the town. I hope the property has been made more habitable since we stayed there.

A comfy bed, a snuggly duvet....hang on I'm not Lenny Henry and this is not an 'out of the box ideti-kit hotel' but a lovely B&B in a 400 year old plus building in Ross-on-Wye that offers the above and so much more.
The Old court House is a delightfully individual building with lots of beams and creaking floorboards. The welcome is warm and the smiley owners are more than happy to chat and make you feel welcome throughout your stay.
Bedrooms are cosy and the beds are good quality with pristine white linen. The shower room was small but more than adequate with plenty of hot water.
Breakfast is one of the best that I have tasted in any UK hotel and sets you up for the day exploring the locality.
The Old Court House is a B&B that does just that. There is no evening meal option but they do provide sparkling chin, knives, forks and wuine glasses should you wish to bring back a take-away from one of the several in the town. They even provide an in room fridge to chill that bottle of wine or lager.
I visited in the summer but will be back for a winter visit when I can enjoy a real log fire in the open fireplace in the room
