We had a chalet room and it was ok and comfortable. Heating was on and cosy when we visited (mid Oct). It was clean but a little dated, particularly the bathroom, though the shower was good pressure wise. TV had no remote though and despite asking we never got one!?
Location of the place is fab - 5 mins from Symonds Yat, 10 mins from Ross on Wye, less than 15 mins to the Forest of Dean.
Breakfast is included and the full English was ok (quality of sausages and bacon weren't great) and coffee was undrinkable, so next day went for tea with poached eggs and that was perfect. The meal we had on one night was typical pub fare, dessert was great, service was so-so (one new new lady that didn't have a clue what was going on and a guy that did but barely cracked a smile). They did however keep our drinks coming! :o)

We stayed here for two nights with our dogs, overall good. Staff seemed friendly in the day but with a bit of TLC it could be a lot more busier! We ate there breakfast, lunch and dinner! Breakfast and lunch was nice but the dinner needs improving! The staff at night should be more interactive with the customers than talking among themselves. Hope to come again and see if they have improved as the building and setting is lovely! As I said just needs a little TLC, fresh paint in the dinning room to make it a little more inviting and care in there food at night time. It was nice as they were dog friendly maybe put a few more touches ie pocket park where the caravan is for dogs to have a run! For what we paid for it did the job

Overall we had an enjoyable 2 night stay, no major issues but there were numerous 'littte niggles'. You wouldn't complain about any of these if they were the only problem, but together they became an issue.
The WiFi was slow and sometimes stopped.
Our evening meal food order was wrong, but they did sort it.
Very limited desert menu.
On the first morning, there were menus on the tables and milk was provided with the tea. Day 2, no menus and no milk.
Only 1 member of staff at breakfast, they took food orders from at least 5 tables before passing them to the kitchen. Service was slow. Baked beans & tomatoes were cold. Rest of the food was very hot. Not sure how you do that.
Heard other guests complaining, so all was not well.

Firstly this hotel has everything put in place to make it Covid safe, without it impacting on guests enjoyment. The hotel is in an ideal location for walking, canoeing, or just visiting nearby towns, and the scenery is stunning (Symonds Yat), and there is plenty of parking. The hotel is clean, and well decorated, and our room was absolutely lovely, with views over the countryside. It was light and airy and bathed in sunlight, and the bathroom had an excellent shower, with plenty of shelving. Free tea and coffee in the room. English breakfast was included and was plentiful and very tasty, as was our dinner in the evening. The staff were friendly and very helpful, as was the Owner who was always on hand. There was a large outside terrace which was a bonus in the hot weather! We can't wait to stay there again.

The location is great for some beautiful countryside walks.

The room we were in was a good size, had all necessary amenities and was pretty clean. The only thing in regards to the room that was negative was the fact the walls were rather thin, so much so you can hear the person in room next door urinating… made me think twice when I went haha.

Another thing to point out in regards to the room, as we weren’t made aware until we arrived, is their charges for dogs. They don’t charge for your furry friend to stay but if there’s any mess you are charged heavily. I completely understand wanting to keep mess to a minimum and being a base for walkers there’s probably a whole host of messes that have been cleaned up, but a heads up is nice. I believe they said it was something that was newly in place, so it may be mentioned now via emails or on their website. Luckily we had brought several blankets and laid them all over the floor just incase our dog had any smidge of mud on his paws to avoid a charge.

The only other problem I had was the food wasn’t amazing. It was alright and it filled a hole but overall it was rather bland and really dry. There is a good selection breakfast-wise but with Covid restrictions you order at your table (which is completely understandable) and you’re given a small full English or whatever you ordered, I feel maybe it would be better to just make those portions slightly larger, as I felt rude asking for more so went without.

Overall I would recommend the Inn on the Wye as its in such a nice spot

We stayed at the Inn on the Wye for 2 nights both evenings we ate at the Inn the food was excellent steak and ale pie to die for and a ribeye steak and hunters chicken were all delicious. The inn was lovely and clean the chalets we stayed in were a little bit old and tired but very clean. It would be nice to have an area of grass to let your dog do their business but overall a very good value for money getaway Thank you

Came today for a dinner , our food was cold and small and service was really bad! Wanted pudding and teas and coffee but didn’t get asked we left hungry! Also no pictures on the wall table was in a whole in the wall with chairs behind us like we were in a store room! The best think about it was the young lad with short hair and my husbands enjoyed his stake. He was friendly . Menu was limited definitely will not be going back!

Stayed here for a night while fishing on the Wye. On arrival the staff seemed disorganised and disinterested, it took a few minutes to acknowledge we were waiting to check in. We had a twin chalet room which was a bit tatty and in need of a bit of attention. The beds were comfortable and the shower was very good, but there is nowhere in the bathroom to place a wash bag or to place your shower gel and shampoo in the shower. The WC wouldn’t flush either. Evening meal was average, my haddock and chips was tiny and overpriced for £11.95, however the Butty Bach beer was excellent. There was a very cheerful and helpful lady in the restaurant, but the other staff seemed not to care about their customers. Breakfast failed the quality sausage test, but it was it was served quickly and was on a par with a greasy spoon cafe. I don’t think I would stay here again, as for £86 a night, you can get better value elsewhere.

Chalet was booked and was furnished with 2 very low single beds.
No fruit, raisins, prunes etc provided.Breakfast first day was fine, rest of the week not so fine, pot of tea requested, waiter forgot had to be reminded,
Breakfast day 2,3,4,5,6 were disasters, fried eggs burnt, bacon rashers became crackling and sausages so overcooked could not be cut. Glad the we did not use restaurant.
Double chalet only had 1 chair, en suite very cramped, 3 days only 1 hand towel provided.
When complaint was made, staff shortages were to blame. I have renamed it FAULTY TOWERS on the Wye because for service and food it was not worth 3 out of 10

We booked this country hotel on the basis of other reviews. Upon arrival from the car park entry is down some very steep narrow steps that are simply dangerous as you can trip very easily. When in the hotel is was evident that it needed a thorough clean. Our bedroom in main building was clean but unheated so the bathroom was cold and had a partially unlit mirror and tiling pegs in between some floor tiles. The hotel had problems with extractors in their kitchen so had limited food available so we chose to eat our evening meal in Ross on Wye. In the morning after a cold night our breakfast was offered in a large function room on scruffy wooden tables. The were no COVID precautions. Self serve breakfast items were offered on trestle tables where people jostled to use a half working toaster and to obtain tea etc.
The cooked breakfast was ordered and served quite quickly by a charming waitress but was greasy with hard bacon and hash browns oozing fat. The carpeted floor needed vacuuming and there was an empty plastic crate near our table.
There is a night access door used when returning late. This requires walking through a litter strewn yard to the car park. This hotel needs a complete makeover. The staff were friendly but clearly overworked. We were pleased to leave.
